Perspective - I hadn't been to NYC in 10 years, and stayed a week at the Walker rediscovering the City. I booked as I thought it would be in lovely clean, neat Tribeca - it's on the edge, but it's just a block of Canal Street which is pretty bad (drugs, street vendors etc) - but has great Metro connections - so it's a trade-off. The hotel has unbelievably small rooms - shocking at first, but if you're on the higher floors with an 'air view', then you can get used to it. Definitely book a higher room. The tiny rooms that almost just fit the beds are surprisingly comfortable with huge tv's and tech featured to close blinds etc. The beds are extremely comfortable. I got used to this, and felt quite comfortable. overall. The cleaning staff were delightful, and replenished everything daily (water, slippers, shampoo etc) - which was much appreciated. The front desk staff are kind and helpful. You can park a block away for $60 USD/ night in a very nice valet underground car park. There was a great mix of young creative guests - and a good energy so would stay here again quite happily. Nice Mexican restaurant a block away to be recommended - Anejo.

There were a few surprises with this hotel, both good and bad. First, there’s a hidden facility fee that wasn’t clear when I booked—it’s calculated daily and is quite a high percentage, so the final price is not what you initially see.
The rooms are small, which is typical in NYC, but even so, I was surprised by Walker Hotel’s layout. The interior design isn’t very functional, with a large single sofa taking up a lot of space. The sofa isn’t particularly comfortable either, and moving it is a hassle—the heavy backrest can easily pinch your fingers. I had a painful experience with it, and what really touched me was my 1.5-year-old trying to “scold” the sofa for hurting me! My heart melted, but be cautious and don’t let kids play around with it—it’s very easy to get injured. The room is so tiny that even turning around is difficult.
Ultimately, you’ll probably just stay on the bed, which isn’t a problem if all you need is a place to sleep. After all, the hotel’s location is excellent—perfect for exploring NYC, not staying in the room.
The hotel isn’t very stroller-friendly either. The check-in desk is on the basement level, and from the first floor, you have to take the stairs up with your luggage and stroller before heading downstairs again to check in. There’s a man at the entrance wearing a flashy outfit, but all he does is point you to the stairs and then downstairs—he won’t actually help you with your bags. It’s just how some New Yorkers are: indifferent and cool.
On the bright side, the coffee shop on the first floor is quite nice, and I had a pleasant experience there.
Overall, while the staff could be more helpful and the rooms are not the most practical, the location and the café downstairs do add some redeeming qualities. Just be prepared for a bit of inconvenience if you’re traveling with kids or have a lot of luggage.

Dear Choi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. In regards to the size of your room. We sincerely apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience caused by the room's dimensions. While we strive to provide accommodations that meet the diverse needs and preferences of our guests, we acknowledge that our rooms may vary in size and layout. We hope that we are fortunate enough to welcome you back, if we are- we'd be happy to try and get you into something larger. Please rest assured that we will take your comments into consideration when evaluating future enhancements to our room offerings. I am smiling from cheek to cheek at that cute moment with your son. I am so sorry that you had anything less than a perfect stay. Please if you should give us another try, reach out to myself, reservations, or the any of the front office managers directly and we will be happy to do everything in our power to ensure you have a better experience. We stayed at the Walker Hotel from October 18-27th and I would not recommend this place for a couple for such a long stay. The hotel is hip and fun, and the lobby is great. I donʻt understand why the reception is downstairs and you have to drag luggage down to check in. The rooms are so so so small and with a queen bed pushed up against a wall, makes it really hard for two people to get in or out in the night. If you are a solo traveler, the room would be comfortable. But with two, itʻs impossible to get ready with the limited space or to store clothes and luggage. The cleaning was a bit spotty and items often werenʻt replaced (like toilet paper!). The location is convenient to trains and lots of places to eat nearby. But you are also right next to Canal so it can be loud and congested. But that is NYC.

Best experience I've had at a hotel in years! Every staff member I encountered was friendly, pleasant, and helpful, particularly during check out as they helped me with a car service to the airport and getting locked out of my room 30 minutes early when I went to go grab my luggage after grabbing a coffee out. Housekeeping was top notch as well, which is an area most hotels have fallen off from since the pandemic. Room was just right for a solo traveler, even by the elevator. Whatever this hotel is doing, keep doing it! I'll definitely be back, and I'll be recommending this location to others.
Note for larger bodied folks: the shower door swings inside the stall, so if you're larger than an XL/50 in waist, you may have to squeeze. This was true for the full sized bed room at least.
Also: bring room spray or risk bathroom smells leaking into the room if you forget to close the sliding door to the toilet.

Day 1: I’d pre-arranged a surprise gift for my girlfriends 30th birthday, the arrival staff member ruined the surprise when checking in by stating that I’d ordered a surprise for my girlfriend in front of my girlfriend, and that it was being sent to the room currently. It then never arrived. I later queried about surprise gift with a different staff member, he was very rude, said they had no record of it (even though the staff on arrival knew about it) and said that they ‘don’t do that’. Day 2: Went back next day, complained about rude staff member and was told again that they ‘don’t do surprise gifts’ even though I had email proof of the conversation of me pre-arranging it. I was then given wine in a can - appalling. Day 3: room not cleaned, blue light ignored by staff, had to request it to be cleaned. Requested new bottles of water, staff said ‘we don’t give out bottles of water’…we literally had them the first two days! They responded with ‘that’s weird’. Day 4: room STILL not cleaned, blue light ignored by cleaning staff again. When asking for the second time, staff member was rude and said ‘you’ve already told us once’ Day 5: room cleaned but shower gel not replaced, had to go down to retrieve more ourselves. Also, had to wait over 10 minutes for someone to show up to take us to the rooftop bar. Day 6: toilet paper not replaced, had to go down to retrieve more ourselves. Day 7: check out staff member was blunt, seemed like she couldn’t be bothered with her job.
All in all, the staff do not seem to communicate to each other, or know what is expected of them to perform their roles to the expected standard. When queried they are rude and many of them seem like they don’t want to be there at all.
Daily room cleaning and toiletry replacement is the absolute bare minimum you expect of any hotel, so to have that missed twice and the staff be rude when requesting it is completely unacceptable. The hotel is a lovely environment and in a great location, but the incompetence of the staff really puts us off ever recommending or returning to the Walker Hotel.

The tiniest hotel rooms in a "boutique" hotel room experience. All the rooms are 190 sq.ft.-- the only thing that distinguishes them are the number of windows. I've stayed at many and varied hotels across Manhattan -- these are comically small for the price point. We didn't get our room made up until 2 phone calls & 2 hrs+ later - this was after we had been completely gone from our room from 8am-4pm -- and had left "service please" sign on our door. We didnt' even bother complaining the next day --- finally our room was made up sometime late in the afternoon/eve. Electronic blinds on 2 of 3 windows did not go up more than 18 inches -- called front desk and was told "engineering" would take care of it -- nothing ever came of this. No follow up from Front Desk. We gave up at that point. The speakeasy is awesome - staff there is great. The restaurant staff who also run the little coffee stand in the lobby/lounge are great. Blue Bottle coffee is a curtain away in the lounge area. Not sure what the $35 in facilities fees is for but you've been warned...

The hotel is great! The experience went well, they have a rooftop, cafe, blue coffee, restaurant, and a speakeasy. The gym is interesting, if you like to work out during your trip maybe utilize another gym. The only hiccup was that our room was never ready when we asked for early check in, and then at check in, the room still wasn’t ready. We did get upgraded but they also forgot our complimentary bottle of wine. The room was clean / comfortable and perfect for just one night. I wouldn’t recommend for longer stays as the room is tiny and not spacious enough. Perfect for one person, a bit tight for two people but you make it work with the storage they offer / provide in the room, it’s like a giant drawer you can fit so much in so there’s more floor space.
Nelson the bellhop is the reason for 5 stars! Great personality and super professional.
It’s important to have positive people working at the front and Nelson is one of them!
The front desk staff were nice but you can tell they were a bit stressed/overwhelmed with the requests. I don’t want to know that my room is still “dirty” just give me the first available room at check in. If we didn’t continue to ask they wouldn’t have called us like they said they would when a room was ready. Now I’m wondering if the room they upgraded us to was available to begin with and they didn’t want to give it to us early. Either way, it’s fine.
Parking is down the street but be ready to pay quite a bit $100 for an SUV for 24 hours.
The breakdown of taxes on the receipt at the time of check out was a bit wild too. It’s NY so not surprising.
I wouldn’t stay again but I’d visit their restaurant / rooftop which is great.
If you stay at the hotel you also get discounts for eating / drinking at their restaurant / roof etc.
Overall, Nelson who’s just a bellhop made it worth it. Loved his vibe!

My husband and I visited and were very impressed with the customer service we received to help us fox the many things we found this place was lacking. We do have very high standards for space, comfort, location, service, food and amenities and none of our needs were met here except for their friendliness and help to get us to a base level of comfort. Mercedes checked us in and was wonderful to bring us a tea pot and cups. Ironing board and iron and a second bench bc our closet was not sufficient. The regular rooms are extremely small and the bathroom sink is in the room. The close in the largest room leaves you six inches to hang clothes off the hangers. We found out that was bc it’s a wheelchair accessible room, however anyone in a wheelchair also needs more than six inches lengthwise. Poor and uncaring closet design. Bed and pillows we average. Not drawers. No 24 hour room Service. I believe it ends at 6pm. Restaurant: had breakfast and for us (from the UK) was very expensive however for New York rates I suppose it was normal. Location is absolutely a can ride to the upper east side or an hour and 40 min walk to Upper East Side and a 20 min walk south to the 9/11 memorial pool. We would have moved hotels but most things were booked at this time of year. Very over priced for what it is I’m sad to say

I booked this hotel last minute because my flight was delayed. It is such a cute vibe and even though the rooms are technically not very big, they feel very open. I loved the coffee stand on the first floor and later noticed they also have blue bottle coffee! I didn’t try the restaurant food, but it looked really great from what I saw.
I have to say I received amazing service from Nelson, who assisted with my bags. He went completely above and beyond when the street was closed off and my Uber couldn’t get to me, he helped me walk a block with my luggage to my Uber! I travel to New York City at least once a month for work and is the kind of thing that makes me want to come back to a hotel more than anything else! Because of Nelson, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and will definitely be staying again.

I was traveling with family and friends, and coordinated the group to stay at the hotel, with three reservations. The night prior to arriving in NYC, I called to see if we could have access to one room to drop our luggage and freshen up from the flights. The person over the phone said just to show up and there will be an option available. I would've preferred some assurance, or a plan to avoid the convo again when checking in. When we arrived, sure enough I had to give the whole spiel, and was told that they didn't say that, and they meant I could store them in a closet. I've been to many hotels and understand what's available and how it works. Anyways, we got a room after my lecture. The room had a pubic hair on the pillow, a large dip in the ground upon entry, the door threshold cracked had to SLAM the door to close it, toothpaste or something on the bathroom light switch. Just not comfortable and not what a room should be like. I figured I would just accept it and after the AC not working that night, knew I couldn't spend more nights there. The night desk agent was helpful and switched my room, and when going into that one, there was another pubic hair and stains on the vanity counter, in addition to the issues of leaking showers. There are definitely structural issues and water issues happening in these rooms.
One night, I was walking to show my sister Saint Tuesday. The young male host attendant spoke to me so nasty and sarcastic, I was embarrassed and angry about it. I chose to accept it, but now wish I would have given it back to him. Completely unprofessional, rude, and uncalled for. I think he forgot who the host was and who the guest was. When I told the same night agent, she apologized and offered a late check out. Why the hell would I want to stay in this place longer? Not an acceptable resolution. Very disappointed and will never stay again, despite many trips each year to the city. The pictures definitely paint a different experience.
