Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
I will certainly return and recommended this hotel to family and friends. The staff has been always extremely helpful and kind, from the reception to the housekeeping. I had an executive room, beautifully furnished, not a flaw. Modern style, a very large bathroom, very spacious. I was worry because some reviews didn’t speak well about the rooms, instead it was all absolutely perfect, elegant, brand new. The executive lounge has a fabulous view on 5th avenue, it was never too crowded whatever time we had breakfast and the breakfast was amazing with a large choice of healthy things too. We had an amazing staying and we’ll certainly return.
Just two suggestions to be at the same level of others 5 stars hotel I visited. The executive lounge in the web - site is claimed to serve warm/cold dishes throughout all the day. We popped in only once for lunch because we had a very tight schedule between two visits and the buffet was practically empty. Just one bowl of salad and few sandwiches. This does not normally happen in the executive lounges. Another recommendation. The reception is very busy the whole day and needs more staff. Each desk should be always guarded by at least one person. At the reception desk not two, but at least 3/4 persons. Concierge always a person in its position. And above all, always at least two persons outside guarding the entrance and calling taxi if needed. Luggages should be brought in and out by additional staff and the outdoor never left empty. Last, but not least, that would give also a more welcoming feeling would be (even small) a bar at the reception. There can be waiting time and a bar serving you a good coffee would make you feel more at home.

We stayed here in November 19 for 5 days for our Anniversary. The hotel location is spot on. Central and can access almost all the main sites by foot (ridiculously close to the Empire State). Metro stations are walking distance too. The hotel has a classical but also a contemporary feel to it and hotel ambiance was just right. Hotel Lobby is very small compared to others (not a 'grand' lobby), but not many guests occupying the lobby so it didn't matter much
The room was a very generous size and we had a partial view of the Empire State building. The bathroom was a very generous size. Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
The in-room welcome treat were Cookies and M&Ms??... We would have preferred a welcome drink, cake, flowers or something else. I'm not sure Cookies and M&Ms hit the mark.
Room facilities were very good and wifi was excellent. Note, USB plug were confusing to find. They were not in their usual place, i.e. the power socket. Rather, they were connected to the table lamps (minor point but worth mentioning). Didn't even notice them there till 3rd day!
We were on the 27th Floor so were cocooned from the street level noise (perfect), although we didn't have full Skyline views.
The only other criticism I have was over the bathroom toiletries. They seemed "not premium", especially when the hotel is a 5 star. Furthermore, the loo rolls felt like they had been purchased from a local dollar store. They were practically see-through. Not what I expected from this brand.
Overall, the experience was good. Nice room, clean and good facilities. If you are seeking an entry level five star hotel look no further.
The hotel could do more to address the very minor points I raised around toiletries and loo roll. Perhaps it is something that might not bother most people. However, It will be small change for them but make large difference for guests.
Obviously, rooms with Skyline or Empire State Building view would be best. But you do not intend to spend alot of time in the hotel (as we did) it won't matter much. I would not say it is worth the premium unless you are booking a suite

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed review of your experience at The Langham, New York! I am very happy that you chose to stay with us when you were in New York and that you enjoyed your visit. You raised quite a few points in your review that I would be happy to address so that there is no confusion. Regarding your welcome amenity, the cookies and M&Ms are one of our signature "welcome to New York" treats - the cookies are shaped like New York City landmarks, served on a bed of M&Ms. I'm sorry it wasn't to your liking. Now that we know your preference is for something else, should you stay with us in the future we can offer a different amenity tailored to your request. Since you raised the bathroom features as another issue, allow me to assuage your fears about the quality of our toilet paper. I assure you it is not purchased at a dollar store but is high quality and simultaneously environmentally sustainable. Our bath amenities are signature to our proprietary Chuan Spa brand, and were custom-made for use in our hotels around the world. I do apologize that you the USB ports were hard to locate. We will take that point under advisement to ensure that, during the room tour at check-in, they are pointed out to guests. Regarding your view, I truly wish we could guarantee that every room has the same view but, as you can guess, that is not possible. However we do take requests for upgrades to an Empire State View at both the time of reservation and at check-in. Again, thank you for choosing to stay with us and for providing your candid and detailed feedback. I hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future. Best wishes, Richard Bussiere Managing Director

This is the first time I have ever submitted a review. Our stay at the Langham NYC was so great it deserved the time to do this. Service: Even though we were put into a very nice room, I was looking for something with a better view. I went down to the front desk to explain my thinking and the Front Desk Manager (Sarah) immediately came from behind the desk and gave me a personal tour of other rooms within the hotel that I could move too. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels and never had someone so accommodating. We ended up paying a bit more to upgrade to a larger room - Sarah made the move super easy and within minutes my family and I were in the new room. Later that night, she had them bring up fresh baked cookies and milk for my kids! We felt so well taken care of. Even my kids were stating how nice Sarah was and how welcomed they felt because of her. Doormen were all great as well. Rooms/Hotel: The room itself was amazing. Everything was in perfect order and super clean. This is the first room I have ever stayed in that I was not able to find anything that was not perfectly cleaned. The hotel itself it also immaculate everywhere we went. Dining: We ate breakfast both mornings at Ai Fiori. It was perfect! The service was great and the food was even better. I could write another whole review on this restaurant alone. Next time we will be having dinner there as well.
Overall - Sarah and the Langham contributed to one of the most memorable family getaways we have ever had.

This was my fourth time in NYC and my first at the Langham. The best way to describe it is a home from home with five star feels.
We booked for our wedding anniversary and had an amazing four nights at the hotel and in the city.
I read quite a few reviews before booking and booked a club room, whilst more expensive I was keen to have a great stay and so wanted to see if the review hype was true.
All I can say was it was! from the moment we entered the lounge and the team asked our names, they became amazing hosts throughout our stay. We ate breakfast there every day and had eggs cooked to order, with the small perfect and great quality buffet filling us up way beyond lunch! Afternoon snacks and a glass of champagne (we were on holiday!) in between sites and shows and a few glasses of wine in the evening with canapes before heading out for the night. The team at the club were superb, each and every one of them, so friendly, nothing too much trouble and they made the stay personable.
The room itself was lovely, really spacious and it had more of an apartment feel (without a kitchen) due to the space and layout. Bathroom and towels etc were as you would expect from a five star hotel and it was a lovely luxurious quiet space to retreat to and rest at night.
The hotel is perfectly positioned for everything you will walk or taxi to and we found we walked lots as it was such a central and easily accessible location, we loved it.
All the team from the doorstaff to the frontdesk (and big shout out to the Club team) were absolutely lovely and made the stay as superb as it was.
We now wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting NYC.

The rating is mainly to reflect that the room rates are on the higher end. We stayed only two nights, in room 2502. Reception was able to check us in early, around noon instead of 3pm, check in went very smoothly. The location is walking distance to so much: The Village, great food at many price levels, Whole foods, drug stores, delis, coffee shops, Broadway, shopping, NY public library, even Central Park is close enough for a longer stroll. The staff are attentive and courteous. The room is clean, large, bed is comfortable, not too firm, not too soft, with plenty of pillows! Bathroom is nice, albeit a bit large. Much of the room is laminate flooring, which feels so much cleaner. Small imperfections: bed linens are mediocre, and bedding did not include a top sheet, which is unusual to me. Bath/shower products are also mediocre, would recommend bringing your own, esp if you're picky about hair/soap products. Much of the room is laminate flooring, which I love, feels cleaner, but the little patch of carpet was dingy. The room was so quiet, no street noise at all! The ONE issue: Sat night around 8 to 9pm, it seemed a small child was gleefully and noisily playing with a very large marble or metal ball bearing, (?), rolling it all around the floor, babbling loudly, in some adjacent room with a shared wall or floor, the direction which I could not identify. Thank heavens it stopped by 9pm. Mysterious, maybe even a little spooky, lol! I would stay again.

We stayed at the Langham for 15 days for a fun nyc vacation. Overall our experience was amazing. Great large room with a kitchenette, quiet, wonderful staff and service, and great location. I have already recommended this hotel to many friends. Amal was exceptionally sweet and gave us helpful tips on where to eat.
The only negative experience I had was when I was checking out and asked the manager, Marianne, if I could keep the room an extra hour because my flight was later and I had a work meeting to do. Her first reaction was was curt and said no. I was taken aback after having spent 2 weeks and thousands of $’s, that she would not honor this simple request esp when the hotel is not even full. After I told her how disappointed I was, she finally agreed but was not very polite. That was not a pleasant way to end a wonderful stay. Her attitude was not called for. Hope this will b we addressed by the general manager. Please make Amal the manager, she's so polite and wonderful :).

I had stayed at the Langham multiple times before pre-pandemic. It was ok, though in the past service levels were inconsistent. It seems that hasn't really improved post-pandemic, although prices have skyrocketed.
I booked an Executive Club Room, which was spacious enough. Check in was efficient and the reception staff are as always, very friendly and helpful.
The room itself was well designed, although there were insufficient clothes hangers.
The bathroom was of good quality, although the shower water pressure was not great.
The bed was too soft for my liking even with the extra firm padding which I think the hotel tried to provide for me. Pillows were quite good though.
Housekeeping was inconsistent. For the first 3 days of my stay, the housekeeping did everything well. However, the standards dropped drastically on the next 3 days. Towels were not replaced as diligently. Soap replenishment was not as generous, etc. It's these little things that all add up, and I was disappointed by the inconsistency.
The biggest letdown however, was the Langham Club Lounge. This is a new addition by the hotel, and it is marketed to be an oasis where you could go to at any time of the day to relax, work, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth unfortunately. During breakfasts, the crowds could get unbearable and noisy. Even in the afternoons, when you'd expect things to quieten down, there would be loud, unruly children running around, and cheapskate Americans drinking alcohol like it was the end of the world. All in all, very disappointing, and quite frankly, low class.
I would have suggested that the Executive Lounge does not allow children below the age of 12 to enter.
Breakfast food was just ok. Your typical American fare of bagels, pastries and bread, eggs cooked to order, and the unhealthy oily sausages, bacon, etc. The fruit selection was average. The yogurts were quite nice though.
The lounge also serves afternoon snacks and evening canapes, which I found to be below average in quality, made worse by the very loud and noisy atmosphere.

Once we checked in we had great service from all of them bellmen to the people at the front desk, even the cleaning staff were so friendly. While out, we had a small leak in the ceiling of our bathroom, Carlos was quick to notify us, move us to another room, and gave us a dinning credit for the inconvenience. Great hotel, amazing staff, looking forward to staying again!

Had four rooms this month under the Amex FHR program and initially no $100 credit per room shown on invoice at check out. Had to argue for it. Then several days later three fake charges (minibar, meal, and parking ) appear. Disputed with hotel and they said basically “too bad.”
Last month we had 8 rooms for three nights each and breakfast was a complete disaster. Only room service was offered (restaurant still closed) and it was total chaos: late by an hour, wrong orders, lost orders, etc. Not one was of the level of a five-star hotel.
Spent over $20,000 on these two business trips. Lesson learned and won’t be returning. Should never have wandered from The Whitby but wanted to be closer to our client. Just not worth the grief and gouging.

Dear Sir, First of all, thank you both for being our guest and for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience. Allow me to apologize for the issues you encountered with both the credits to which you were entitled through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts and the erroneous charges. I am not sure what the specific issue was with your breakfast orders but I apologize for that as well. To ensure that we can get to the bottom of the issues you encountered, we would be grateful to be in direct contact with you. Please contact us at your convenience to speak with Marianna Fuchigami, our Hotel Manager. Please accept my apologies again. I do hope you will give us another chance in the future. But again, thank you for being our guest and for providing us with this useful feedback. Best wishes, Richard Bussiere Managing Director

The elevators are pretty standard, and there are probably stairs you can take (although i didn't use them) and you can request a lower floor.
