We are a couple with a 6 years old kid. We find Sanctuary Guest Suits truly comfortable, in a great location, in a neighbourhood with real people, not just turists. 10 minutes walk from the subway and close to everything. We love it.

We stayed here for 5 nights. The room was spacious for our family. Couldnt find any fault. Very very clean and smells good. This is far better than staying in an expensive hotel. Love the local area, late convenient stores, laundry, market, reasonable distance to subway. Dont miss Clinton St. Baking next street.Thank you Sanctuary Guest Suites for making our...

I am a seasoned traveler and in the past I have stayed in luxury properties ranging from very high end hotel chains to more middle-of-the-road, family style chains like "The Holiday Inn". I hold high expectations for wherever I spend my dollar and I expect the basics of clean, quiet rooms with good quality beds and linens. In the end...

We spent two weeks in NYC and enjoyed our time staying at Sanctuary. We had 2 adults and 3 children and found our stay very comfortable. Our apartment had a small kitchenette which had all the utensils we needed. The apartment was situated close to supermarkets, restaurants and subway stations.

I was not very pleased with our stay at this apartment after reading all the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor. We stayed at the other location at one of the top floor suites. The prices, location and amenities was what attracted us and we booked with more than 10 months advance for our stay. Unfortunately when we got there there was...

This was our first time staying at Sanctuary Guest Suites. It was about a 5-7 minute walk to the subway station and you can get anywhere in the city from there. We loved our accommodations and the staff was helpful and great. The room we stayed in was perfect for a larger family of 6 like ours. The beds were...

We found Sanctuary on tripadvisor and we are so glad we did! What an amazing deal. 4 people for 4 nights = $200 a person for the weekend. You can't beat that, especially for the location and quality of the rooms. We arrived on a red eye early thursday morning and the manager was nice enough to let us check...

Our recent stay at Sanctuary Suites was again awesome !! This was my second time staying there and my friend's first. The room was roomy and very clean, larger than any midtown hotel room !! The staff is so helpful and kind . Good idea to be familiar with the subway since it's about a 10 minute ride uptown. Taxis...

We loved our accommodations at the Sanctuary Guest Suites. Our suite was cozy, comfortable and clean. The bed and bed linens were were very comfortable. Our family of four stayed at the Shanti Suites located on East 3rd Street not in the main building on Stanton Street. We took a suite with two queen beds and a small kitchen area. Space was definitely tight but you can't complain for the price and quality. The suite was nicely furnished and very clean. The neighborhood was fine...

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sanctuary NYC Retreats was established by a group of health, eco, and spiritually conscientious travelers. They came together with two ideas in mind: To provide other travelers with a peaceful, retreat-like stay in NYC and to create an opportunity to give back to our community. Each suite at Sanctuary features a fully equipped kitchen and a flat-screen cable TV. The suites are decorated in warm colors and Indian folk art. Select rooms have a sofa bed and private patio. Complimentary continental breakfast is offered Monday-Friday only. The Lower East Side is the oldest neighborhood in New York City and presently one of the most fashionable in Manhattan. Once the home for working-class European immigrants, the LES has become one of the trendiest areas in the city full of cool boutique hotels, bars, restaurants, yoga studios, fashion stores, health food stores, art galleries and live music venues. Iconic artists like Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro, Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen used to live on our street and countless movies and TV shows are filmed around throughout the year. Just blocks away is the Delancey/Essex Subway Station and a quick train ride to Midtown (Union Square, Flatiron District, Empire State Building, Times Square and Central Park) or Brooklyn (Williamsburg, DUMBO). A few minutes walking and you can be anywhere Downtown: East Village, SoHo, West Village, Little Italy, Chinatown and East River Park. ... more   less
