Nestled in the East Village, Moxy NYC enchants many with its eclectic atmosphere and design, while its prime location garners high marks for accessibility to local attractions. The hotel's cleanliness and attentive staff often earn accolades, complementing the array of bars and rooftop space. However, opinions are mixed on value, as some guests criticize the small rooms and additional fees. Furthermore, noise levels from the vibrant social scene can be a point of contention for those seeking quieter quarters.

I spent 10 days with my husband in New York to spend New Year's Eve. First of all, we go very often and we like to stay in Greenwich, Soho, East Village, in different hotels, this was one of the ones we were missing. 1- very well located, 2-the rooms are small (we had a room that had a second bed that gave it greater space, there are no closets, but they have some shelves and a very good wooden hook system 3-cleaning and changing of towels every two days 4-they do not replenish soap spontaneously, everything has to be requested in the lobby. 5-there is free coffee until 3:00 p.m. (very delicious) and a cafeteria where you can have breakfast for approximately USD 15 6-it is not noisy. 7 - they receive shipments free and efficiently. It is worth highlighting the kindness, speed, and good vibes of Carmen, in the concierge, she solves and advises you in case of any type of problem and always with a smile.
It has a nightclub next door and a restaurant, which we went to Cathedral another time, excellent but very expensive.
It is a recommended hotel.

I haven’t been to NYC in 8 yrs. The Moxy is the perfect gem. Affordable, perfect location (20 minute walk to little Italy/ 20 minutes from Chelsea) amazing vibes in the restaurants, friendly staff and the comfiest rooms that have that flare that can only be felt and found in the big apple 🍎. I’m a Marriott bonvoy member because I love their hotels and the Moxy East Village is a great representation of the brand. I will be returning. As a solo traveler in a overwhelming city, the Moxy EV made me feel right at home 🏡

The MOXY EV is my favorite place to stay in the city! Situated in uber hip East Village, the MOXY is a relaxing haven from the busy city streets. It’s walking distance to many sought after tourist attractions, local markets (shoutout Westside), coffee shops and eateries (Ruby’s, The Smith, and Boris and Horton are personal faves), so that’s a huge benefit. I’ve stayed in several different room types, and I’ve found them all to be cozy, smart, and surprisingly quiet. The beds are always super comfy, and the rooms are well stocked and replenished as often as you’d like. I especially appreciate the extra touches such as makeup remover wipes and cute coasters. I’ve never quite mastered the energy saving light switches, but no matter. The staff are all accommodating, friendly and welcoming, and I love walking down into the lobby, where it always smells of Moroccan amber. The Alphabet Lounge inside the hotel has a relaxing, chill vibe, and my 25 year old daughter who lives in EV says it’s one of her favorite places to hang out with friends! Suffice it to say that MOXY East Village is my go-to when staying in NYC!

One star is generous. We stayed for four nights and our room wasn’t cleaned once, despite repeated requests. The only time we even got new bath towels was once when we called the front desk to ask for the fifth time. The room is unreasonably small even by NYC standards, the “queen” sized bed was somewhere btw a full and a twin, the pillows may have been 10 years old and showed it, and the level of inattention and active, willful disdain the staff displayed by repeatedly ignoring our service requests is staggering. The location is good, but plenty of other hotels offer the same location. Hard pass.

Great location, just down from Union Square, lots of restaurants in East Village. But beware of 'Destination Fee' of $30 per night that you are charged each day in addition to the actual price of the room. You can use the $30 per day on breakfast or a drink, but its 'use it or lose it' - seems a sneaky way of charging extra.
Staff helpful and friendly.
probably a better place for a holiday than business - no desks in room, wifi went down one day, reception area funky with loud music so difficult to have a meeting there.

Hello janpV4349QX, Thanks so much for reviewing your stay with us. While we are happy to know you liked our excellent location and hard-working Crew, we regret not meeting some of your expectations and your disappointment with our daily destination fee. We implemented our destination fee after an overwhelming number of requests from our guests to bundle our resort-style amenities. To make it a significant value, we must pass this cost through to all guests, and we encourage each of our guests to take advantage of these amenities. Furthermore, we are sorry for the inconvenience you endured at the reception area and in your room. We appreciate the feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our guest experience! We would love to have you back so we can make your time with us as comfortable and productive as possible. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope you will revisit us soon. In general, I like this hotel, but I am not sure if it should be in the top 10 hotels in NYC. I just spent 2 nights there and it was a good experience in general. The staff is great, always smiling and eager to please. The premises are clean, with a lot of sitting areas. The head shower in the room was powerful and felt like in a spa. There is a destination fee of $30 a day (which was included in the initial estimate) that is actually a credit that can be used toward breakfast or bar expenses. ( I am not sure if other hotels in NYC charge this fee and apply in this manner). On the other hand, my basic was room was so small that a chair cannot fit in it. The only places to sit in the room are the toilet, the floor or the beds. I was not happy when we arrived at noon and was told that yes there was a room available then but there was an early check in fee of $50. Since I have never heard of such a fee, I declined it. My room was adjacent to a noisy neighbor who was throwing a party on a Friday night. I had to call at 2am to complain about the noise!

This property is simply put a party hotel. We visited on a weekend and the noise from the bars in the hotel, on top of the hotel and from the music venue across the street is extremely loud and lasts until the wee hours of the morning. If you're looking to party this is the place for you, if your looking to sleep stay some where else. If you get a room on the back of the property it is bearable but barely.

The staff is decent for the most part and our room was nice but quite small and dirty.

They also charge a $30 a night destination charge which the front desk clerk tried to convince me was required by the city. I heard several other people complain about it while I was there. They do allow you to use the charge for drinks or breakfast. But, they don't really have a breakfast restaurant but rather a Starbucks like place that has a few muffins, croissants or breakfast sandwiches. Beware however that there is a $4.50 charge for using your $30 credit.

We stayed here due to the location which was ideal for us. We'll try someplace else next visit.

Horrible, I do not understand the good comments at all. It is not worth a 4 star, at most a two star. The lobby is shabby, no service (luggage, concierge, restaurant reservations...). The triple room is TINY, there is NO CLOSET (just coat racks scattered on the wall) but on the other hand two huge TVs in a ridiculous space, a closet would have been more useful...
The sink is in the middle of the room, no privacy. No curtains cloaking light even at night (the street and buildings) and then at 6am it is full light. No soundproofing (woke up all night by people coming into their rooms and screaming in the lobby). No coffee machine. The drawer with the trunk was locked so they had to remove the trunk. We're on top of each other with our clothes in our suitcases in the middle of the room.
A disaster. Run away.

Andrew at the front desk was very nice and helped me. He was able to check me in early and get me in a higher floor room. He’s a great guy to have working there.

However, I don’t think I’ll ever stay across from a music venue ever again, unless they invest in triple pane windows for front facing rooms. Couldn’t sleep at all.

We are local to the area, tend to stay in the Marriott chain and wanted a hotel with great access to evening and next day plans. With a short walk to the subway at Union Square and an easy walk to meet our son for brunch in the West Village the Moxy East Village met our needs. I was hesitant for one reason, noise level. This Moxy is located across the street from Webster Hall and the hotel gives off a very social fun vibe. So I was concerned about noise. We were given a room on the 10th floor and I am happy to report that on a night with a concert across the street and a DJ in a common area of the hotel I found our room to be quiet! The low hum of the heat unit helped as well. Upon arrival, we were met with a very professional young staff. In particular, Carmen at the front desk checked us in and she is incredibly kind and knowledgable. Also helpful during our stay were Andrew and Janet. Impressive staff. The rooms are small- and most important I found our room clean and with a comfortable bed. You may have to crawl around your partner as the bed is against the window- do look at pictures. This fact would be a dealbreaker for me for an extended visit, but for a weekend it was a great stay. I will be back as this hotel may be our go to in NYC!

They do have some corner rooms that have an outer door that can close and then you can leave the normal room doors open so they connect. The corner Ada room in the fourth floor and the adjacent room for example have tho situation.

I believe they have to be 21 to get in at night. During the day, I think they offer refreshments for everyone, but that might only be certain times of the year. I’d check with the staff, as they were newly open when we went. There’s also a place to get coffee and pastries downstairs with ski ball and games that’s fun. Hopes this helps!
