Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
YOTEL New York Times Square offers a modern and tech-savvy atmosphere that many guests appreciate, though some find the ambiance overly lively. While the central location near Times Square is a highlight for its convenience, the noise level is a common concern. Opinions on service and amenities are mixed; staff friendliness contrasts with occasional complaints of rudeness, and while some amenities are modern, others are seen as lacking. Travelers commend cleanliness but note that rooms are on the smaller side, and additional fees can detract from the hotel's overall value.

Over all the room was clean and apart from from a kettle had everything you need ( we took our own). The bed was very comfortable and housekeeping did a fantastic job daily. I wish I could be as positive about the lobby staff. On top of the city tax the hotel makes you pay a compulsory service charge where they say that its for use of their amenities which includes use of their storage luggage robot and discounts on attractions. You get better deals online for attractions and when we came to use the robot it was conveniently full and we were charged $3 per item for the lobby staff to put it in a room. They even wanted $3 for a coat! I asked them to wave the fee as we had already paid for storage and they said 'we should have checked out earlier and If I want to complain then go elsewhere.' Funnily enough someone got the robot working and one of the staff went running over asking who had touched it? It was self service and quite clearly the staff had stopped people using it to cash in. It's such a shame that the money grabbing unhelpful attitude of the lobby staff spoil the hotels reputation which is actually a good concept. I would of recommended the hotel if it wasn't for them. I think Yotel need to seriously consider employing staff that are out to service themselves and not their customers.

YOTEL had no hot water the first night and none the following am. We asked for a refund for the second night as we checked out a day early for this reason. We did not get a refund and was told that my reservation was made by a 3rd party (expedia). I made my reservation on what I thought was the YOTEL website. Watch out for such crap. Staff completely unhelpful in this situation. As a matter of fact, they knew there was a problem with the hot water when we arrived, but didn’t tell us. I will never go back

Stayed for 3 nights early Feb room 2306 - perfect room for the 2 of us. Bed was extremely comfortable, shower was lovely. Toilet and shower arrangement isn’t great if you aren’t VERY comfortable with the person you are sharing a room with so keep that in mind when booking (basically a tall glass screen with huge gaps both underneath and at the top), but wasn’t a problem for us as a couple. Perhaps would be less suitable for friends or family members sharing.. Staff very helpful - couldn’t fit cases into the robot storage room on our final day so staff swiftly took care of our luggage for a small fee and looked after it all day for us. Didn’t visit the bar or other amenities on site as we were too busy but they looked very welcoming. Superb location - couple of blocks away from Times Square, subway stations and amazing restaurants. If you’re on a budget but looking for something suitable for a comfortable nights sleep and close to TS, don’t hesitate to book this hotel.

Staff was very friendly and helpful when checking in and finding my room. The room was dirty when I got there. Tried to take a hot shower but when I turned it to the warm setting the water just stopped coming out. Tried again in the morning, this time the water came out but it was ice cold even after letting it run for 20 mins.

My family have just checked into this hotel on arrival The guy on reception was rude and unhelpful .they asked could they have a double bunk bed as the room was not suitable , the receptionist was rude and said no . Unless you want to pay for another room . Refused to let them speak with a manager and basically told them to like it or lump it . Typical American attitude.

Absolutely deceiving pictures. Tv did not work. Dirty room. View was nice but had nothing else to offer. Could not change LED lights. Was very disappointing. There was no refrigerator in a room I paid 388$ for. Chipped paint everywhere. Just wish I had a better experience. Would not recommend.

I was very worried about staying here after reading a lot of recent negative reviews. Anyway I need not have worried- our room was great, exactly as described, we knew it would be smallish but it was plenty big enough for us for a 4 night stay with big suitcases. The room was clean and comfortable. We took our own travel kettle as we knew there wasn’t one, and it was a godsend for our morning and bedtime cups of tea. We felt it a safe, secure hotel and it was situated perfectly. A short walk to the subway, and great for a stroll into times square. We discovered lots of lovely bars and restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. Scallywags is a great Irish bar, with lovely food. A huge recommendation for seafood lovers is Aquaboil in Hells Kitchen, really reasonably priced and the most amazing quality, very friendly service, check it out on tik tok, the cajun sauce bags are amazing.

Response from Jorge Tito, General Manager at YOTEL New York Times Square
Responded 6 days ago
Dear Rachelc, Thank you for choosing YOTEL. We value feedback, both positive and negative as this allows us the opportunity to improve on our service delivery. I always ask our guests to let us know exactly what the issue is during their stay so that we can rectify things while they are still residing with us. I can see you had a great, and enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing with us and other potential future guests. Thank you for giving us the chance although reading some negative comments, I am sure your comment will help our image. I take this chance to talk about our FACILITY FEE (at a cost of 37.50 + Txs. per night per room), offers a wide range of exclusive discounts to YOTEL guests, including MUSEUMS, SHOWS, RETAIL STORES, ATTRACTIONS, TOURS etc... this allows guests to redeem hundreds of dollars in discounts. Another great feature of our hotel is entertainment, we have on the fourth floor every day of the week, in GREEN ROOM 42, we have OFF BROADWAY SHOWS, with excellent performances, please check it before booking, you may find something of your interest while at the hotel. As a tip to the best views from the rooms, book CORNER QUEEN ROOMS. Looking forward to have the chance to serve you even better on your next visit to the city. Sincerely, Jorge Tito

A little disappointed in the room's overall cleanliness, and attention to items we expected to be provided --- no courtesy curtain for the bathroom, and no towels. Overall, the staff at check-in, and concierge was great.

We were a 10 minute walk to Times Square from YOTEL. The room was very small, has a near see through shower and open bathroom. Our shower was leaking and looked like it had mould coming out of it. It was alright for the price.
