Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Sofitel New York garners praise for its meticulous cleanliness, especially the spotless conditions of its rooms and bathrooms, with housekeeping receiving accolades from guests. While the hotel's location is a hit among guests for its close proximity to Times Square and local dining, opinions on the rooms and amenities vary; some visitors appreciate the comfortable accommodations and luxury toiletries, but others point to the dated decor and a notable lack of certain amenities, such as in-room beverages. The atmosphere ranges from opulent to less inviting, and while service is often lauded for being attentive, there are reports of occasional service lapses. Despite the prime location and generally positive remarks on cleanliness and service, many travelers question the value, citing a mismatch between the price and the overall hotel offering.

Great location, great service, quiet elegance. And really, really comfortable beds. I highly recommend their loyalty program, even if you don’t stay at Accor hotels that often (it is primarily a European chain). They have special member rates and last minute discount upgrade options.

We spent five nights here in December. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the subway. The foyer area is really beautiful. As it was before Christmas, decorations were scattered throughout. There was a lovely Christmas tree which had been made out of vintage Louis Vuitton suitcases.
There was a small gift waiting for us in our room as it was my husband's birthday during our visit.
Our room had the usual amenities that were to be expected. Just enough space was available in the room, but this is to be expected in New York. There was no tea or coffee making available which should have been in a hotel of this standard. The bathroom was designed well and it was great to have a separate shower and not have to climb over a bathtub.
One evening prior to going to a Broadway show, we decided to have a drink downstairs in the bar. The bar was not full. After ordering two glasses of wine which were 20USD each, we then had to wait over ten minutes for the wine to arrive. It would probably have been longer had we not reminded the staff a couple of times that we were in a hurry. Finally the wine arrived and we literally had to gulp it down and then only just made it to our show. Not the pleasant pre-show drink that we had anticipated.
Overall our stay was pleasant enough, despite the rooms being on the small side. Having stayed in other Sofitel hotels throughout the world, this was not really up to their standard considering the price which was paid.

We stayed in the Sofitel hotel in Manhattan at the beginning of december 2019 with my husband.

All the staff was really-really nice! The service was perfect!

Sofitel has a great location, it is next to a lot of Subway stations as Bryant Park, Times Square, Central Station, so you can get easily around.

When we arrived we got a smaller room then booked and payed. Alan Rodriguez, the frontdesk manager, came immediately to our room after arrival and apologized.
Alan arranged as a suite for the next day on for our rest of the stay :))). So we only spend the first night in the smaller room and then got a much more bigger, actually a suite, then officially booked. Thanks to Alan Rodriguez.

I gave not 5 stars because once we ordered room service and the food was not good at all, but there are a lot of restaurants around the hotel so you dont really need room service.

The hotel is more classic styled, it soon will need an update on the furniture.

I would give Sofitel New York more than five stars if I could—it definitely exceeded all my expectations. We reserved three rooms, which included two adjoining rooms, for three adults and two children, for four nights. All of the rooms were exceptionally large and well-maintained, with the most spacious and luxurious bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a NYC hotel. The quiet location was perfect for easy access to theaters, shopping, restaurants, parks and museums. The friendly reservation desk staff made sure our requests for Nespresso machines and water were taken care of immediately after check-in and was equally helpful when we checked out. We saw the same high level of friendliness and helpfulness from the housekeeping and room service staff, as well as from the front door people and the concierge. This was really not surprising, as Mathieu from the hotel’s administrative team had already thoroughly impressed me when I reached out to him with multiple questions in the months prior to our visit to NYC. Kudos to Mathieu and the entire staff for making Sofitel New York our new hotel for any future visits to NYC!

We originally booked Embassy Suite but so glad we stayed at the Sofitel. The location was great and is within 2 blocks of Times Square, walking distance to 5th ave, Macys, and Bryant Park. The room was lovely - bathroom had a soaking tub and aseparate shower - both the bathroom and bedroom were extremely clean and well maintained. Very quiet never heard other guests. No microwave, as for the tv (others mention problems) we called front desk and found out all we had to do was channel up once tv comes on to get stations as it always sets back to hotel channel.Bellman, Doorman, housekeeping and Front desk were all excellent!
We didn't eat at hotel because prices were too high instead eat at local eateries. Recommend changing pricing so guests would be willing to eat at hotel.
I will stay here again when visiting NYC, room prices were great also.

I admit that I am leaning towards being a beast of habit! But I have stayed at Sofitel hotels not only in New York but also in other cities (Montreal, Chicago...) frequently for good reason! Every stay was very pleasurable and in particular the staff have been most helpful and friendly in all properties. Rooms are very clean and nice, checking in and out processes work extremely quick, and I feel very welcome and appreciated here without the feeling of the hotel being too intrusive on the guest.

They are calling this their soft open. This was always been our favorite hotel in NYC. The beautiful lobby flowers and the Hermes scent makes you feel at home. Their location on West 44th between 6th and 5th Ave is really ideal walking to Times Square, Broadway, Bryant Park, or many other key attractions. The staff was helpful and very appreciative to have guests back. Our room was comfortable, clean, and there was daily housekeeping service. Concierge was available to book restaurants and share information. We were on the 23th floor. Great view and fast elevators. They have not reopened the restaurant or gym yet and after they take your bags, they direct you to self park one street over on 45th at City Parking (They do not offer valet at this time) but super easy to do (3 minute walk back) and the hotel provided a discount coupon for parking. Yes, we wish every amenity was back but it still exceeded expectations.

The positives were the size of room (quite large for the area), the bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the location in the theatre district is very good. We had a nice view from the 20th floor.
But there was quite a lot just not good enough for this grade of hotel. There is no restaurant or bar so the hotel feels very dead. The rest of the city is open and the reception staff did not know why the hotel had not fully reopened. There was no water/coffee/kettle/teas/snacks/cups in the room and the fridge was empty. There are very few power points in the room. They didn't reply to two messages through booking.com, and did not send an invoice by email as promised. Our first room was right next to 3 lift shafts and noisy from the machinery and we asked to change. They did find us another room but it was not done with much grace. The staff were just not friendly enough, everything looked like a bit too much trouble. I asked reception for a map to be told that I would have to get it from the concierge who finished work at 5pm! Overall we felt the hotel was just not trying hard enough and I would think there are better choices right now.

The location of the Sofitel is great just near enough to Times square and 5th Avenue without being too close. Reservations agent when we first made the booking -Dilma - was incredibly helpful and sorted things out.
We had 2 superior rooms on a high level. Very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was excellent and generally the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again for location but it is looking a little jaded.
