Quite a tired old hotel with uncomfortable mattresses, showers that are hard to get into with the door opening inwards, and generally outdated and in need of a refresh. No coffee or refreshments in the room. Great location and great staff.
In line with other recent reviews the hotel provide a bed but nothing more. I understand they may want to close the restaurant but there is no justification at this time to provide no bar/food service. One cannot even get a bottle of water or coffee in the hotel. If they want to close the bar then at least place a coffee machine and water bottles in the room. On check in I was told that breakfast was room service only (restricted hours) - looking at the options the breakfast consisted of a croissant and a coffee for about $9 each. And it stopped at 11am I believe - so hardly room service. The restaurants in the area did very well as I had breakfast/coffee and evening drink in them 3 days running - bizzare that a premium hotel still charging premium rates (with no reduction for reduced service) can provide such minimal services. On the positive the room was big and decent but doesn't make up for the lack of services - I can go to a 2 star hotel if I just want a bed.…
We have been coming to this hotel several times a year since 2010, save for COVID and just checked in today ,( after 18.45 )since our last visit in November 2019 We immediately noticed:- 1. No Concierge after 6pm 2.Bowl of apples no longer provided in the Lobby 3Only one person on duty at the check in desk 4.No luggage delivered after a 15 minute wait and so went and collected it myself 5.No bath robes, but the hook to hang them on, still in the bathroom 6.No longer an Orchid in the bathroom 7.Only one bar of soap 8.No longer scented candle and matches 9.Very poor quality towels 10.Empty Mini bar 11. Restaurant and Bar both closed. We were told that the mansghoped to re-open them next month A very very disappointing experience Very few staff seem to be on duty As reflected in many of the earlier reviews Does no one in Management care? Obviously not!…
the hotel is comfortable, but the closing of the breakfast and restaurant is a pitty. In my opinion not necessary as other restaurants are open for the public. Not being able to take breakfast reduces the benefit of the hotel.
This hotel is shamelessly charging premium rates and providing no facilities except a basic bedroom. They are doing serious damage to the Sofitel brand and shouldn't be open until they can provide an acceptable level of service. They have beed receiving one and two star reviews since last November but it doesn't seem to worry them. We booked a luxury room but all the extras have been stripped out of the rooms so no coffee machines, water, robes, slippers or mini-bar. These magically become available if requested but it shouldn't be like that. We paid for these minor luxuries and they should be in the room. Even worse is the lack of catering facilities so no restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner, no bar nor anywhere to get a simple coffee. The hotel should not be open until they can at least provide a restaurant for breakfast and an evening bar. Will I stay here again - of course not. Would I trust the Sofitel (and Accor) brand after this - probably not.…
