This Hotel was amazing. I stayed there for 10 days and as a sole disabled traveler I was apprehensive but I could not have picked a better hotel. cosy, warm, friendly, clean. The concierge made my whole experience amazing. nothing was too much trouble for them, they looked after me from the start to the end. I would like to thank them for making my stay in the hotel and New York so memorable. The Mason and Vine restaurant was also awesome the food the staff and the atmosphere was outstanding. room service was also great with the breakfast and dinner from the restaurant. The Room was so lovely and comfortable after my days out and about it was lovely to relax in my room with a glass of wine and look out on to Madison ave. I will be back and would not stay anywhere else. Thank you Library Hotel NYC

I've stayed at the Library Hotel quite often for almost a year now, while I work on manuscripts and writing. The rooms are all cozy and the hygiene care has been perfect. Despite the location, it is possible to enjoy quietness for those who are looking for it. The staff are friendly e and attentive. The food in the hotel restaurant tastes like home cooking and reminds me of a small restaurant that used to operate in an old lady's house in Prague, where I ate the best roast chicken with potatoes in the world, prepared by her. The hotel has rooftop bar and a reading room with fruit, nuts, cereal bars, soft drinks, fresh coffee and tea, computer and printer available 24h for guests. For coffee lovers like me, the rooms have a coffee maker available if you request it, and Illy coffee.
I just wish they also had less healthy snacks ( chocolates, cookies, candies) available for guests like at the Hotel Elysee.🙂

This is a lovely hotel. It's clean, cozy, and surprisingly quiet for being located so close to Grand Central Terminal. I was also pleasantly surprised by the absence of guests making noise and letting doors slam at all hours, and it makes sense that noisy guests aren't going to choose a library-themed hotel, so that's a huge bonus for staying here! The bed and pillows were comfortable, and bathroom was appropriately roomy. The room had plenty of desk/counter space, and a mini fridge stocked with two bottles of water (restocked by housekeeping on my 2nd day). All staff were very nice. Snacks, coffee, and espresso are available 24hrs in the lounge on the 2nd floor, though I wanted hot tea one evening and I found tea bags but no hot water carafe and no way to heat a cup of water. Maybe they only provide hot water for tea in the mornings.
Each room is stocked with dozens of books, but the topic is whatever Dewey Decimal Classification corresponds to your room number. Plenty more books are available in the lounge and reading room. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant (Madison & Vine) or room service this time, but I really enjoyed my stay, and I hope to stay here when I come to NYC again next year!

Hello snissie, Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. We are a quiet, small, boutique hotel in the heart of midtown Manhattan and close to so many great attractions. We're sorry you were unable to enjoy some tea, but we would have been happy to assist you had we known. Although there is no hot water carafe, our espresso machine will provide the hot water with a touch of a button at any time during the day. We most certainly hope to welcome you back again. we have stayed at this hotel 9 times since 2011. gone is the fabulous 2nd floor that provided a complimentary choice of breakfasts with rolls, danish, selections of cheeses etc. Gone is the complimentary 4-6 daily happy hour where choices of proseco, white wine, small apps were provided by servers. The 2nd floor was always packed, now a ghost town. Housekeeping repeatedly failed to replenish soap, shampoo, and our room had one bathrobe and one pair of slippers. Having been married for 45 years, i graciously let me wife use them. The 14th floor was constantly booked with outside parties with no consideration for allowing guests to use this wonderful venue until after 10:00 or 10:30, and then sharing it with 80 or 90 people who had been drinking for 6 hours. There was no doorman as in the past and the concierge staff left much to be desired. The second floor now has bags of nuts and packaged protein bars that taste like tree bark. The library Hotel is a good mid-town location, but there are several like hotels with that same location that offer far more reasonable rates with much better amenities. Adois, its been nice.

Dear JWSTL, First and foremost thank you for being such a devoted guest after so many years. We appreciate you supporting a small independent hotel. I’m very disappointed to hear you will not return. Unfortunately, we do not intend to bring back the continental breakfast buffet or wine and cheese. Times change and we must evolve to stay a competitive business. We have not offered these amenities in almost 4 years (March 2020) and they are not advertised, so if we missed an opportunity to explain what is included in a stay here I apologize. Our rooftop bar is a popular destination and we always recommend reservations otherwise, we cannot guarantee seating. We host private events and parties regularly which is a common practice for restaurants and bars. It is unfortunate you were not able to visit during your stay. Finally, I would urge all guests to let us know if there is something you need. We are always happy to bring extra robes, slippers, towels, or shampoo to a room if we know you need them. It sounds like housekeeping missed the mark here and it will be addressed thanks to your feedback. However, I wish we had known while you were with us so we could have made it right for you. All the best, Robert Rawlins General Manager

Spent 9 days in NY, at Library Hotel for the entire stay. Was a great location for exploring mid-town and beyond. Close to Grand Central and Bryant Park. Staff courteous and very friendly. Room adequate, could have been more spacious. Second floor lounge area a bonus plus the roof top bar was great. Amenities generally good. Would have been nice to have some variety of snacks in lounge, especially over the festive period. Didn’t seem to be any measures to help the planet, e.g. recycling bins or the option to retain towels, etc.. when requesting room service. On occasion hot water was tinged brown but this did clear. 1pm checkout and bag storage on day of departure much appreciated. Overall, a clean and tidy boutique style place which we would recommend to couples.

The room had everything I needed: bathrobes, a safe, a small refrigerator filled with several bottles of water, a built-in desk, and crisp high-end sheets. Staff helpful and eager. No room service, alas, but Madison and Vine, the connecting bistro served an excellent breakfast. If I had any wishes, very minor really, it would be for the somewhat dim bedside lights to be brighter, and for the bathroom mirror to be lit from the sides as opposed to the top. Very pleasant stay!

From the moment that I booked this hotel online, I received fantastic customer service from all of the “librarians”. They are just as efficient, pleasant and helpful in person as they are online (responding to emails very quickly)! Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, and the pleasant greeting from the doorman every time we returned was an unexpected delight. The room was slightly larger than we typically find at other hotels in NYC, and the bathroom was well laid out and definitely larger. The library theme throughout the hotel is unique and fun for book lovers. We found the “Reading Room” to be a quiet sanctuary from the noise and bustle of the city where we could enjoy a cup of tea and relax. The only upgrade that would improve the hotel would be better shades on the room windows to block out the morning light. I will definitely stay here again!

We strive to offer our guests a fantastic experience when staying with us, and it warms our heart when the hard work of our honorary librarians is acknowledged. There are two sets of shades in the room, both blinds and black-out shades in case you would prefer little to no shade in the room. We look forward to your next visit! This location is unbeatable, but I am disappointed that after the pandemic so many good features have been eliminated. I enjoyed for years the evening wine hour and the morning continental breakfast on the second floor, and I find it interesting that the resort fee was added when these services were eliminated. Also this last recent trip I realized that there is no longer a turn-down service with a chocolate on the pillow and the weather forrcast for the next day.

I must add that there still are coffee, tea, and soft drinks and fruit on the second floor library room.

Hello rmlandow, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are saddened and surprised to hear of your disappointment, as we have not offered most of what you have mentioned in four years, and you have visited us several times since then. Unfortunately, the pandemic and the current economy has changed the hotel industry in many ways, in which it is not feasible for us to offer what we previously have. We have had to make changes, just like every hotel, in order to remain competitive and successful. We instituted our resort fee in 2018 at its current price, while most of our competitors charge a much higher resort fee with only a mere hint of the amenities you can find at our hotel. Our 24-hour refreshments in our second-floor lounge, access to a state-of-the-art workout facility, the ability to peruse the NY Times digitally, and the option to add a hotel breakfast to your stay is much more than what is offered in most hotels in NYC. We thank you for being a great patron to our establishment and hope you enjoyed your recent visit to this wonderful city. Kindly, Justin Scimeme Director of Sales

This hotel is centrally located in midtown Manhattan. Perfect for all the main attractions, Broadway theatres and shops. Our Queen room was very clean and more spacious than we expected. The Reading Room is well equipped with a coffee machine that also provides hot water for tea. Soft drinks are available in a fridge and there were bottles of water. Bananas, Satsuma oranges, apples and some health bars were also provided. We did not use the roof top bar or the restaurant, although these looked very nice.

Our restaurant, Madison & Vine, offers breakfast every morning from 7am to 10am. We do offer breakfast included rates on our website, but can also purchase when at the hotel. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to bring back the wine and cheese reception.
