My daughter & I are having a wonderful stay at the Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea! We arrived on a Monday morning & were greeted warmly by Marissa. She explained that the hotel had no hot water & the restaurant was closed due to a gas leak in the neighborhood that affected the hotel & other businesses & residents on the street. She mentioned the utility company would arrive to inspect it later that day but there was no predicted ETA for the hot water. While we sat in the lobby to research other hotels, we could hear the front desk staff’s interaction with guests. Each of them handled the situation professionally, & their disposition, given the circumstances, was the biggest reason we decided to stay at the Motto. They went above & beyond to manage guests expectations & clearly wanted every guest to enjoy their stay.
We’ve been trying the restaurant’s menu everyday of our stay and can report that everything on Lulla’s menu is delicious! If you’re a Hilton Honors Gold member, you can choose either an $18.50 per guest dining credit or Hilton points. The restaurant has an upscale but casual vibe and the friendly & knowledgeable servers made great recommendations from the extensive cocktails menu.
I appreciate the daily texts from Jaime, Marissa or Zaida who’ve been checking to make sure I’ve been enjoying my stay. They graciously remind me to reach out if there’s anything I need. I visit NYC 4 times per year & this is now my favorite hotel. The Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea is a beautiful, modern hotel without being too trendy for regular folks, has well appointed & very clean, comfortable rooms, has stunning downtown city views, is in a great location & easy walking distance to the subway, shopping & attractions. It’s just a nice hotel with great staff & amenities that business people, tourists of all ages and families will find welcoming & comfortable.

We absolutely loved our stay at Motto. We stayed for Christmas and were sad to leave. The staff and atmosphere are extremely welcoming and the decor is very stylish and typically New York. A modern but authentic feel to our stay with fantastic location in the heart of Manhattan, between 6th and 7th Ave. Nearest subway at 23rd street just 1 block away too with various uptown and downtown routes. Check in and out was very easy though reception can get busy because the hotel is popular. However, there were always polite, helpful staff on hand. Free Wi-Fi worked everywhere in the hotel and rooms and premises were immaculately clean. Comfortable beds/pillows, plenty of charge points and mini fridge. Free water each day also. Room for a family of 4 is a little small and there's no wardrobe which was a slight downside. 3 big draws on the beds and space for suitcases but 4th draw replaced by a safe and a bit of a lack of space for clothes and belongings as a result. That said, the room did not feel cramped as we're tidy and in Manhattan, space will always be at a compromise. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic as was all food that came from the kitchen. Great taste and flavours as well as presentation. They really know how to serve food here and though part of a huge chain, this felt like a family run hotel with great attention and service levels. Full drinks bar and cafe with a wonderful atmosphere at all times of the day, breakfast lunch or dinner. Also, a quite and relaxing lounge on the floor above, for guests. Extremely well presented and great for our Christmas day family photo's. There is also a small fitness gym on the 4th floor with weight, treadmills, mats, Pelaton etc and lifts operate only by guest keys for security. One slight problem where we only seemed to be given 3 towels each day when there were four of us in the room and had to ask for additional ones each day but they were sent immediately. Would highly recommend this hotel for travelling families, couples or solo travellers. Very friendly, highly convenient, fantastic food, lovely atmosphere, good value and excellent service. We certainly will look to stay here again when in New York, hopefully in the not too distant future.

We are a couple travelling from Australia and wanted to stay somewhere on Manhattan. This hotel exceeded our expectations, the hotel staff were excellent, particularly those at the bar where I had a morning coffee daily.
The room was excellent particularly considering some can be quite small on Manhattan. It was clean and well organised. There was plenty of space for bags underneath the bed. Also had two draws and a safe. We had a landmark view room and we could not have asked for a better view of the city.
The daily housecleaning service was excellent and we were very impressed with the state of the room when we returned each afternoon/night.
While we didn't get to try it, the restaurant in the hotel looked excellent and the food very appealing. There were also weekly events such as a comedy night.
There is a concierge in reception that assisted in organising a shuttle from the hotel to the airport (additional charge). This was great and we wish we knew about this for our arrival.
Overall a great experience and we would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone travelling to NYC.

The hotel room was compact but very well laid out. Although there was no closet, there were hooks and drawers for clothing and the suitcases stowed nicely under the bed. The city views from the room were spectacular, and we loved the neighborhood.
We very much enjoyed the patio at the hotel and would relax and rest the feet there after trekking throughout the city each day.
There was an issue with a gas main in the area that impacted our stay. Though this was not the fault of the hotel, we were without hot water for 2 days. Taking freezing cold showers in a room that costs over $300 a night was extremely frustrating. No compensation was applied to the bill and nothing was offered for future stays. I am reluctant to book with Hilton again after this experience.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of our trip to NY to get married! The room we had was a landmark city view on the 31st floor. To be perfectly honest the view was breathtaking, we couldn’t wait to open the curtains for sunrise/ sunset/ any other excuse! The room was kept spotlessly clean daily, the bed was very comfortable and the room facilities were ideal. There’s no coffee making gear in the room, but there’s a generous $10 towards bar/food daily so this covered coffees every morning. We had so many restaurants and takeaways on our weeks bucket list, we didn’t have time to eat at the Hotel, but all the food I saw coming out looked delicious 👌. The location is absolutely great for many attractions etc, with a subway a street over, and cabs pass the hotel frequently. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful, and friendly (not necessarily guaranteed in other establishments in NY 😂). Thanks to Maggie on reception. All in all we would definitely stay here again!

I chose this hotel because of its location (It's a couple blocks away from the F subway) and its city view hotel rooms. However, i'm not sure what happened because, when I got to the hotel, it turns out I didn't book a city view room. I would have bet money that I did. The hotel didn't do anything or offer anything to make it right (I do hold some status, so I thought they'd at least offer a price for an upgrade).
Anyways, the hotel room is very mediocre. We stayed in a room with a king and the bed was pretty hard and the sheets are pretty thin. The room is also quite small with very little room for my or my fiancé's suitcase. There isn't a closet, but hooks on the wall and the sink is outside in the hotel room instead of in the bathroom. You can hear everything that goes on in the bathroom. Speaking of noise, on the 12th floor, I could hear city noise outside and my fiancé mentioned he could hear the people upstairs walking around. They also charge a resort fee when you get to the hotel on top of your stay. The positives were that the shower was reasonably sized, the air conditioner worked really well, and the elevators came pretty quickly. I wouldn't stay here again for the reasons I mentioned. It's just not worth the price for what you get and, in a city like New York, there's too many options to stay somewhere so mediocre.

My husband and I went to NYC to see the sites, watch a couple of broadway plays, and to enjoy delicious food. The Motto Hotel, Chelsea was the perfect location. We walked everywhere from this lovely, quieter than Times Square neighborhood. The staff, specifically Alex & Brittany were very hospitable. We arrived quite early in the day and Alex was able to get us in a room early with an upgraded room with a beautiful room. The rooms are small but well designed with several wall hangers for clothes and drawers under the bed. The bed was extremely comfortable and up on the 38th floor it was very quiet. I don’t usually sleep well in hotels, but I slept like a baby here. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, Lulla, and it was excellent. Also, the Concierge was helpful with arranging the Ellis Island, Liberty, Downtown tour. Great service all around. This hotel has earned its 4 star rating.

This hotel was perfect for our stay in NYC. Room service came every day to fluff pillows and change sheets and bath towels. The front staff including Maggie, Juan, and Marissa were awesome! They made sure we were valued and looked after every single day of our 5 day stay. If you are planning a trip to NYC, staying at the Motto should definitely be at the top of your list.

We have just returned from staying here for 5 days and can honestly say it’s one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. From arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and anytime we asked for anything for the room (iron/ironing board) it was there in no time. The bar was always buzzing and food in the restaurant was lovely. The views from the room were out of this world and we didn’t even need to pay at any of the tourist attractions to compensate. It’s a great location and walking distance to Times Square and Macy’s and lots of sub way stations near by. The only complaint would be trying to get hot drinks at the bar. The coffee was cold several times and only managed to get hot chocolate on one occasion but there’s a Starbucks across the road and plenty of local eateries.

Had an amazing stay! Was having a very stressful day with my flight delays and travel complications; my day was made a whole lot better when Jamie as able to help me out with an early check in and stress free stay! Truly amazing place and staff! I grew fond of the room I was staying in and the products they offered a since clean minty feel. We were able to utilize a 10 dollar credit for the cafe in the lobby, cappuccino was great. Super easy check out no hassle

There was a hotel guest at the front desk when I was first checking in and because she had missed the check out time she was charged full rate for another night even though she was leaving.
There are more places to choose from in the New York City area.
