Stayed her for 7 days over the holidays with my husband. Hotel had only opened a week before so we were expecting a learning curve for some of the services and staff, but wow this hotel was far below expectations.

We arrived and were told that the hotel bar didn't get its liquor license in time so wasn't open. Not a big deal for us but something to check is this is important to you as there was nothing alerting us in advance.

A coffee maker was listed as an in room amenity but they just didn't have them we found out when we checked in.

We were on the 6th floor overlooking 5th Ave in a king room. The layout of the room was awkward and the finishings were superficially nice, but ultimately very low quality. After being open for only a week, wood veneer was peeling up, the floor was splintering, and the "marble" was cracked. I hate to think what it will look like in a few years if this is the condition after a week.

In room dining wouldn't pick up their phone and made many errors. When we asked about a specific error (we received a cappuccino instead of a latte) we were told it was a latte (it wasn't and was listed on the bill as a cappuccino) and told we can go downstairs and deal with it in person if it was a problem. We didn't pursue that because ultimately it was coffee so who cares, but that was an example of the type of service. Housekeeping was also rough. I don't know if there was some type of linen shortage but despite asking and tipping we could only get 2 bath towels for the room. Everyday we asked and eventually just had to live with 2 bath towels only. Biggest watch out is the noise. This hotel is super noisy, both from the street but also the noise from other units and the hall. Doors are constantly slamming in the hall and the hotel lobby blasts music onto the street which rumbles into the rooms facing the street at all hours. We were willing to forgive a lot of start up learning but this hotel was not worth it. It's not up to par with the Le Meridien brand and I would not recommend.

We loved this hotel and would simply just stay here again the next time we visit NYC (we're from Southern California)!

First of all, the staff was simply incredible. They all made us feel welcome and safe. We felt as if we came back to a cozy and safe bubble every time we stepped back in from the busy streets of Manhattan.

The room was very clean and modern. Size-wise, ours seemed typical for a hotel room in Manhattan, which is to say, smaller than the average U.S. hotel room, but still fine for four adults. We had an issue with the deadbolt and had to move to another room, but the staff took good care of us. We're still not fond of the heavy and loud mechanism of the room door, though. Also, be aware that there's no door to the shower area; only a door into the separated toilet. This is fine if you're traveling alone or as a single couple, but not so ideal otherwise. A sliding door with a locking mechanism would easily remedy this issue. This is a trend we have noticed with some newer, more "modern" hotel rooms, but we would prefer an old-fashioned door.

We had breakfast at the hotel on several occasions and, unfortunately, we felt that this was one area the hotel could improve upon. But we were in the middle of Manhattan and great food could be found everywhere, so we were not bothered.

We chose this location because it was a quick 10-minute walk from Moynihan Hall at Penn Station, where we had arrived on the Acela from Washington, DC. There's a very convenient bus stop right outside of the hotel and we used that line to go downtown and uptown so easily. This hotel is ideally located to explore Manhattan (we even took the subway all the way to Coney Island, in Brooklyn!).

NYC, we love you! (And you too, Le Méridien!)

A quick two day visit to the newly opened Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue.
The hotel is in a very good location on 5th Ave in the Nomad area of Midtown Manhattan. Just a short walk to Madison Square Park, Union Square, Bryant Park and Herald Square. There are several subway stations within 3-4 blocks.
The room is exceptionally well designed. Although not terribly large, we did not feel cramped in the room because of its design. There is thankfully very little traffic noise and we haven’t noticed any sound transmission between rooms.
The bathroom is really nice with a separate soaking tub and shower. The lighting in the room and bathroom is excellent. My wife was extremely happy with the makeup mirror lighting.
The staff are very friendly, service oriented and a big shout-out to Chantell, Barry, Anthony and the rest of the excellent staff who made us feel welcome.
I highly recommend this hotel for nice rooms, great staff and perfect location in Midtown Manhattan.

My family had one night here during thanksgiving weekend, overall great stay experience.

Check-in: doorman is always there, very warming and make us feel safe. Lobby in 1st floor is not big, but staff there are well trained and with high efficiency. The lady set up my family proactively introduced all hotel amenities and elite membership benefit. Really 5 mins whole process.

Room: reasonable room size considered the hotel location. All devices and decors inside room are in perfect condition, probably the best class in whole city. King size bed with quality/firm mattress gave us great support for whole night sleep. Other things in my room are bathrobe and slippers also the refrigerator. Besides bottle waters, the coffee voucher allowed us to redeem our selected coffee in lobby bar. My room is facing other building with no exciting view, next time I'd try the room facing front of hotel which looks more favorable.

Restroom in good size and bright. All separate walk in bath, toilet room and sink. Adjustable light levels inside the mirror. Plenty of face towels and bath towels provided proactively.

Breakfast: at check in, we were given the breakfast voucher of total $38 due to elite membership that can be used in hotel restaurant. Good selection of dishes provided from menu. The meals came out quickly and tasted great.

Location: hotel is in great location as for shopping, tourism, explore city and food. 2 blocks (5 mins walking) to Empire State Building, walking distance to many shops and museums. Great selection of restaurants/coffee/department store/convenience store close by.

As said, this is a great stay for us, glad stayed at this newest hotel in the city. We will back again.

I loved the room but found it a bit small for one that has a king bed. I did like the furniture choices and the bathroom also had nice finishes. I liked that the toilet closet was separate although the shower was small and not big enough to fit too. Very specific but the shower shelf was the only thing badly designed because it was long but narrow and would have been more useful with a little shelf or two.

We had a room in the back so it was quiet but definitely not a view worth looking out.

Best staff! Everyone is so friendly and loved the doorman. Definitely giving some of those NYC movie moments.

I was excited to try this new property based on its website’s photos. Before I start my criticism, I first want to say that the hotel staff has been very nice and tried to solve the problems. I have no criticism of the staff but the property is absolutely terrible. Here are the problems:

• Room is extremely small even after I supposedly got an upgrade. It is not like what is shown in the photos.
o Windows are not floor to ceiling as in photos
o No bench at the end of the bed as in photos—in fact the space is so small that you cannot even pull the desk stool out fully to sit on it as it hits the bed behind it
o Tiny bathroom counter with no unoccupied space to place your bathroom bag
o No dresser-only two skinny drawers in desk and one small one in the armoire – I used the luggage bench for my dresser
o No closet- only a small armoire that hangs your clothes front facing rather than sideways due to its shallow depth
o No iron as presumably there is no space for an ironing board, only a steamer that does not do the job.
o Hightop desk and stool which are uncomfortable – upon close inspection this can be seen in photos but is not obvious as most photos cut off the legs with the bed in the forefront
• Deceptively taken photographs to make rooms look big and only of the larger rooms and then no publication of even the approximate square footage on the web
• Nightstand lamp is plugged into the wrong side with no way to move it. On the window side of the bed, there is an outlet tied to the wall switch where it should have been plugged into. Because it is not, there is no way to turn any light off from that side of the bed. On the bathroom side of the bed there is both the table lamp and a light switch for the headboard lights—the lamp should be moved.
• Window shade not installed properly – Chain hoist not set properly so it could only be opened ½ way. They said they fixed it bit did not. On second attempt, they just rolled it up all the way where it will not stay. I was able to use the drapes.
• HVAC not working properly in fitness center (which is in an unexciting basement location) – It was 77 degrees but after I reported this problem, it was presumably fixed.

Tiny rooms, with a LOT of noise coming from 5th Avenue - considering this is a brand new hotel, I would have expected better soundproofing. Definitely not a usual Le Meridien property. Bathrooms are also particularly small and uncomfortable. Breakfast for Platinum & Titanium members is shockingly poor, and the "credit" does not cover the cost - definitely more worthwhile taking the points option and grabbing a bagel from a nearby store.

Housekeeping is beyond shocking - the housekeeping staff do not understand a word of English, especially frustrating when asking for a towel or a simple bar of soap. The shampoo bottle was faulty and came off the wall and was never fixed during my 5 night stay, despite asking multiple times. Floors were never vacuumed and stray hairs remained in the bathroom.

On day of check out, I was asked by Norma the housekeeper what time I was checking out, to which I responded 4pm, which she made a note of. At 3pm, she and her colleague Lorena decided to enter the room and woke me up from a nap, despite the do not disturb sign being on the door handle. This is totally inexcusable, and overall left a very bad taste to the extent that I cancelled my next upcoming reservation at this hotel on my return to NYC. A very poor experience and this hotel has a long way to meeting the usually high global standards of Le Meridien.

Manhattan is full of hotels so there are many to choose from...but PICK this one! We're glad we did for our recent visit to NYC. Le Meriden on 5th Ave and 31st street was outstanding in many ways. The location in mid-town was perfect, centrally located--close to many sites (Times Square/ Central Park/ Soho/ shopping/ Village etc). We could walk or take short cab or uber rides anywhere and were near the subway as well. The rooms were clean and while not large, certainly spacious enough. By far the best part of the hotel was the extraordinary service...honestly this was the FRIENDLIEST hotel I've ever stayed at in NYC! The staff learns the guests' names and always offered us water or umbrellas or anything to make us feel comfortable. From the front desk to the breakfast waitstaff...EVERYONE was so friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Barry who was always helpful and cheerful, and countless other staff who truly went out of their way to make us feel at home.

I have lots of legacy Starwood points so our 4-person family typically stays in Residence Inns for weeklong travel. My daughter & I took a long weekend trip to NYC and needed to stay in Midtown, so I figured we would try something a bit, well, nicer. I picked Le Méridien to show my daughter a good time. This place definitely did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in the staff was super friendly, accommodating, and inviting. If we needed any random help (like with girls' hairstyles) the front desk leaned in with grace and a smile. When my daughter told the front desk this was her best hotel experience ever, they ensured so by sending up a molten chocolate cake as a sign of their gratitude. This place is awesome.. and she will probably resist our next booking at a Residence Inn. :)

This hotel was such a great find! I was lucky enough to stay the first weekend it opened, and it was truly gorgeous! All of the finishes are stunning but what really shined were the staff! From housekeeping to the front desk staff, everyone was so pleasant and truly invested in how your stay was going. The staff gave it a small town feel from the inside, yet I was in the heart of NYC!

The other amazing thing about this hotel was the location. This was my first trip to NYC and I LOVED that I could walk everywhere. I was minutes away from Time Square, The Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, and the list goes on…I hope to stay here again on my next visit to NYC as there is still so much more to see! Thanks for an amazing first trip!

Ps. Splurge for the room with the bathtub and you will not be disappointed!

Avoid the hotel at all costs , extremely noisey ,, tiny rooms with basic IKEA like furniture ( the closet is so small it could only be classed as an overnight hotel and even then I would avoid))

Mine wasn’t even cancelled even though the hotel wasn’t open ( December 2022) I was left stranded in NYC with no hotel booking totally at the fault of Marriott . The worst experience ever inflicted by a hotel and confirms the disrespect towards loyal supporters ( 22 years elite level Bonvoy treated me with total disdain) now no longer . It’s simple communicate if a booking can’t be fulfilled and relocate the guest to another property , this did not occur inflicting considerable inconvenience and unwarranted expense . Bonvoy should be ashamed and to treat a member with such disdain is deplorable. How they can operate without any integrity is extraordinary .There was an easy “come back “ ( communicate the delayed opening and relocate my reservation ) to avoid my angst but they decided the angst should be inflicted . I asked for nothing more than fairness .The GM now decides to apologise well after the infliction , Bonvoy silent !
