Some people have unfairly reviewed this place as they expected more comforts and luxuries than is appropriate for this price and location. The important thing is that this hotel is kept very clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. They do everything they can. You only have to compare the price of this with other hotels in New York--and you will... More

NYC can be incredible expensive - especially for hotels. For 3 nights I booked the World Hotel in Chinatown - it is on The Bowery near Canal Street - but not so close to a subway. The room was tiny - 1-2 feet larger than the bed on two sides, no windows and no bathroom. It was very clean and... More

This hotel is inexpensive compared to most and when you arrive, it is apparent why. There are only stairs, very steep stairs, to get to the lobby and your room. The bed took most of the room; however, it was clean. You have your choice to book your room with a shared bathroom (cheaper) or with your own private bathroom,... More

The room was extremely small and was able to contain a bed and nothing more. It could barely contain our suitcases. It had no windows and no shelves or hooks to place things or hang towels. The place was dirty and had cockroaches in the room. There were only two bathrooms in the hallway and they never had toilet paper... More

First of all, the receptionists don't know almost anything about the city. They just stay there and wait the end of their shift, sleeping with opened eyes. If you ask them something they look like "wt*, what should I say now?!".There are only 4 toilets in all the building, so if you have to be ready at 8, it's better... More

I read many negative reviews and often assume that they are taking revenge because of a personal issue, like a rude staff member, or unfortunate neighbours, etc. To clarify, that is not what is happening here. I have never stayed (read as attempted to stay) in a more unpleasant establishment in my entire life. I set the bar pretty low... More

We stayed up on the 5th floor in a tiny room that only fit the small bed. The sprinkler system in our room had been covered over and despite 4 complaints to management about it, it was never fixed and they seemed to have to have no concerns about the breach in fire regulations. The shared bathrooms never looked like... More

You get what you pay for. For that price it's ok.IF you won't stay in the room for a long time, you can book a room. We've been there for 4 days. And I had to put my clothes for a pillow, was sleeping in my jacket, in socks and covered myself with my towel.(I didn't want to use their... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.

“It would be a good idea to hang some shelves or at least some hooks so you can hang your towels up to dry. Liquid soap and toilet paper would be nice in the bathrooms.”
