The Maritime Hotel garners praise for its enviable location near Chelsea Market, with easy subway access and a peaceful setting away from crowded tourist areas. Guests commend the impeccable cleanliness of both rooms and common areas. The hotel's amenities are well-received, especially the cozy lobby and the included breakfast, despite some comments about limited breakfast options. While the service receives high marks for friendliness and helpfulness, opinions on noise levels are mixed, with some guests noting soundproofing issues.
Rooms are admired for their design and comfort but are noted to be compact and occasionally noisy. Value-wise, the hotel is considered reasonable, though parking and room service can add to the cost. The nautical-themed atmosphere adds to the hotel's charming character.

Detailed Reviews
The location of Maritime Hotel was perfect in terms of accessibility to Chelsea, the Hudson river walk and High Line, as well as Chelsea Market which was a treasure trove of gourmet delights just across the road. The room had great views, and relatively quiet on the 10th Floor, with a very comfortable bed and the shower was the best we have ever experienced in a hotel room. Minor points to improve slightly, the pillows could have been a bit stiffer for me and my wife and the fire alarm was too sensitive to the steam from the bathroom. Breakfast could have been a bit more comprehensive with addition of bacon and scrambled eggs rather than just continental. Michael on the entrance and Shannon on reception are a credit to your business and couldn't do enough to help. We will come again, once the ÂŁ is worth $2 ;-), NYC is so much more expensive than 15 years ago! Many thanks Michael and Rachel from Sussex, UK

Hotel's Favourite
Beautiful room, very comfy bed, fantastic view of New York. Hotel is very welcoming with a gorgeous fireplace in reception/lounge area and comfy sofas to relax in. We came to NY as part of our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations. The hotel was so kind as on our return from a full day out we saw that a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice was waiting for us! How kind and thoughtful. Great location too! Highly recommend!

I've just spent 4 nights at the Maritime Hotel and it was overall a positive experience. The place is kitted out like a 50's maritime office meets cruise ship, with large portholes for windows, dark, curvy woods and plenty of mirrors. The most striking feature of the hotel is the almost totally quiet, bell hopped lobby which is a bit of a library meets lounge. It is the perfect contrast to the quite chaotic Manhattan outside. The staff are also very friendly.
The room was larger than I expected for NYC and featured a solid bed with fluffy pillows, good wifi, nice toiletries, good shower power, and totally quiet rooms (try asking for a higher floor). Smaller features were noticed as well, such as a 'do not disturbed' sign that is a magnet on the door, as opposed to something on the handle that just falls off.
One area to be aware of was the breakfast situation. it is an unstaffed (other than cleaners) affair offering fruits, cereals, dull pastries, and tea/coffee/juice but that's it. And on the A/C front, the Maritime are guilty of something that is rife post pandemic...they limit how cool the room can actually become in order to save money. But if you're reading this you're probably going in the fall/winter, so good luck!

Really nice to be in a hotel with a real lobby! That includes a warm fireplace. This is unique property which is also refreshing. The staff and management were friendly and helpful in a very natural way. The rooms are very nice. Our family had a selection of rooms. Some rooms were on the smaller side, but those were adequate. The suites are very nice. The location is great for getting uptown or across town with the 'E' train stop very close. It is not a touristy area per se even if Chelsea Market is right across the street and the High Line just a block or two away. That means when you come out the door you are not run down by throngs of tourists and you can actually get a seat at the diner for breakfast (two nearby). We will definitely go back. One confusing thing is the entrance which looks like its hiding... funny to have such nice property and a 'cold' entrance. Not that I spend much time at the entrance to hotels. A public ice machine would be a nice addition (please). They get an environmental 'A' for avoiding most single-use plastics. The breakfast is pretty simple, but there are diners nearby.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Chelsea, steps from the meatpacking district. The hotel provides small, but wonderfully designed rooms and bathrooms with top quality bedding. The large lobby gives you a comfortable and relaxing opportunity to meet someone, relax or even work without loud music.
The housekeeping was top notch, with feather pillows provided on demand and top quality bedding.
A complimentary continental breakfast to start the day, and a nice staff always ready to help.
A perfect, quiet stay in the heart of the hottest area of New York, minutes to everywhere.

Stayed at the Maritime Hotel to two nights, great experience in an historic building, nicely renovated you feel that the place was the HQs of the maritime union for many years. Nice rooms, very clean, great lobby, remembered me of a maritime library or club. Staff very friendly. A nice Breakfast is included. Location is perfect, right next to the Chelsea Market, perfect to explore the area and lovely west village. 10% recommended!

I loved the ambiance and service in this hotel. The hotel lobby is hard to leave, there is a coziness and retro feel to it and everyone appeared comfortable in the chairs. My room was well appointed , I liked that the hotel is cutting down on the overuse of small plastic bottles and have replaced them with refillable containers, and I appreciated that there were no thin plastic garbage liners that never hold anything anyway, just a waste of plastic and money.
Great hotel, very comfortable.

We loved the location of the maritime hotel, right across from Chelsea market. On the night we stayed prices were very high but if your dates are flexible the price can be more reasonable. If you arrange parking through the hotel, the garage is right across the street and costs $60 a day, can’t beat that. The breakfast in the morning was pretty lackluster, muffins, fruit, hard boiled eggs, toast, cereal, coffee and juice. We loved the room, and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.

This was our 3rd stay with the Maritime. Online pre-check in was quick and easy, so when we arrived, all we had to do was pick up a key card. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Room and bathroom were clean. Lobby is a little dimly lit but very quiet, which works especially if you out roaming NYC all day, and very nice to just sit and relax. The room is a little smaller compared to other hotels, but plenty of room for a couple. It was nice to have a window that opens, so we were able to get the room very cool, but it sealed up nicely and kept out a lot of the NYC traffic noise.
Location is great, away from the tourist areas, with many restaurant options, the A,C,E trains are on the same block so easy uptown and downtown access, Madison Square Garden is a 20 minute walk or two stop subway ride, the High Line is a couple of blocks away, and Greenwich Village is also a short walk from the hotel.
Overall, had an excellent experience with all of our stays. The Maritime will continue to be our first choice when traveling to NYC.

A lovely stay and equally lovely staff! My husband and I stayed here for an entire week while we both traveling for work. After having living in NYC in past years, I always wondered what it would be like to stay here...and was pleasantly surprised.
Our room was very comfortable with a window that really does open out onto the Chelsea neighborhood. We were able to sleep well due to the nice bed, linens, and having completely blackout shades. I did appreciate the staff asking if we needed room reset occasionally.
The bathroom, while small (which is typical for NYC hotels), felt very luxurious with marble and all the little details including great toiletries like toothpaste, body scrubber.
I appreciated the morning breakfast downstairs at the adjoining restaurant, a place that is extremely popular and happening at night for drinks and dinner. The lobby was also very convenient and quiet to do work during the day.
I always felt welcomed by the staff and did feel like this was home away from home that week. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We have recommended to friends who visit the city, and we hope to return sometime.

Hi,
The top left corner of the website is the hotel address and phone number. However, the main hotel number is 212-242-4300

The Maritime Hotel is one block from the A,C,E subway line on 16th street and 8th Ave(2-3min walk) The 1,2,& 3 subway line is 2 long blocks on 14th street and 7th Ave(about a 5-10min walk).

We didn't have a car. Best option is to always ask the hotel directly :-) The hotel is wonderful, the staff is great and it's a gift to be so close to the Highline and the Hudson River.
"Only concern was you hear some noise throughout the night such as toilets flushing, dogs barking, and other normal city noises"Read full review
