Pod 39 Hotel earns high marks for its prime location, with guests frequently commending its proximity to attractions and public transport, even though some have mentioned noise-related disruptions. The hotel's unique amenities, such as the rooftop terrace, and the overall cleanliness receive consistent praise. While many guests describe the rooms as cozy and clean, there are reports of them being quite compact with privacy concerns. The staff's friendliness and professionalism are acknowledged, but there have been instances of less-than-stellar service. Despite the room size and occasional noise, many find Pod 39 to offer good value for its central location.

We have just returned from a week here. My husband and I in a queen room and my adult son in a single room, both on the third floor. It was surprisingly quiet and a nice neighbourhood. We were expecting the rooms to be small and they are. The photos are accurate and in actual fact I found the size to be bigger and more comfortable than I expected. Cleaned and fresh towels every day. This was the most reasonably priced hotel we could find (though not ‘cheap’) in a really central location. A few minutes walk from Grand Central Station and many of the tourist attractions we wanted to visit. Free tea and coffee every morning from 7am-11am. Iced water available all day. Breakfast isn’t provided but you could buy a bagel for $2, pastries for $5 and yoghurt with fruit and granola for $7 which we felt was very reasonable. Apart from the great location we loved the vibe here! Great communal areas with bars including a rooftop bar. We took advantage of the free pool table a few times. I read numerous reviews that mention the frosted glass bathroom door/wall and the lack of privacy this provides. This concerned me a little before we came but you couldn’t see a thing through the glass it is so frosted! If you are prepared for the small (but perfectly formed) room size then this could be the place for you! My husband and I had two cabin cases and two flight bags and there was plenty of space for these under the bed and in the drawer under the bed with hanging space and space for shoes. If I return to NYC I would definitely stay here again…

This hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Broadway District, UN, etc. The housekeeping staff is excellent, they cleaned our room daily without any need for follow up. The bed was firm and comfortable so we were able to sleep well.
The room safe was convenient and sized so that it could easily accommodate our laptop. This was the first stay for my wife and I in a Pod hotel, we had a Queen Pod but it was still a tight fit in terms of the two of us moving around our room at the same time. The room could have used a few more outlets for charging of devices such as cell phones, iWatchs, laptop etc. The bathroom could have used 1-2 shelves for hygiene/toiletry items for which there was room to install. When we booked our room in early August the hotel website advertised a Mexican restaurant but when we arrived it was permanently closed, this was disappointing because we looked forward to some Mexican food and drinks at our hotel during our NYC stay. We chose to stay here because at the time of booking other hotels in the same area were $100-150 more per night. In retrospect, having a bit more space would be nice and so maybe points out the need to hunt further in advance for a more suitable hotel.

The hotel is perfectly located, literally a stone's throw from Grand Central and a 20-minute walk from Times Square. The experience was more than positive but you have to take into account some things. I travelled with my daughter so no intimacy issues, but I realise that in their rooms, given the very small size, there is very little privacy and this can be important if you are travelling with friends. The room has carpeting, it is really small (in my case there was a queen bed) but well organized in the spaces. The bathroom, proportionally, is large but with limited support spaces (there is only a narrow shelf that runs along the mirror), few hangers and with a sliding glass door that divides it from the bedroom, slightly satin-finished only in the central part and that does not close completely (hence the privacy issues ..). Equipped with everything you need (dispenser with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel) and hairdryer (no need to bring your own because due to the different voltage would not work properly) and with a generous amount of towels.
The room was redone every day (this is not obvious in NYC), the change of sheets once in five days (so right in my opinion) and the level of cleanliness absolutely acceptable.
The pluses of this hotel are definitely the services. In the morning coffee, tea, milk and water available to guests from 7 to 10, reception open 24 hours a day, luggage storage available to guests until 23 on the day of check-out, wifi also available in the rooms, all included in the resort fee of $ 20 per day that you pay directly at the hotel.
Only defect, very noisy heating system (maybe it was a problem of our room) but I had to turn it on very little despite the low temperatures as the room was still hot.
Overall my experience was extremely positive but having in mind the limitations of the accommodation that I believe may not be suitable for all types of travelers.

The rooms have everything necessary for a comfortable stay for a person traveling alone: space to store clothes and suitcase, a small desk with multiple plugs and connection ports, a TV, a rich bed. The bathrooms are spacious and the shower has good pressure, it has shampoo, conditioner and body wash, as well as a hair dryer. Cleaning is good. The staff is friendly. Additionally, they offer walking tours for their guests, I took one and it was very interesting. The location is great, close to Grand Central Station and walking distance to several attractions.

TINY rooms but very clean and beds are comfy. Bring toiletries!

This hotel has mixed levels of helpfulness in terms of staff - some are super helpful and some are rude.

No inexpensive food options. The Italian restaurant onsite is good but EXPENSIVE for a budget-style hotel. However, we enjoyed our meals here.

The hotel rooms could use more hanging hooks and vents in the bathrooms.

The hotel room was small but this is expected, what I was pleasantly surprised about was how spanking clean the whole room was down to the shower. Having the basic amenities of plastic cups, clean towels, sheets, numerous USB ports, and electric outlets make one's stay very convenient. Free clean chilled drinking water and free coffee are great pluses in my book. The location is in a safe area and a few blocks from Grand Central with great restaurants and cafes around. It's simply perfect for the price point. This is definitely a new go-to for me.

The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming. This staff runs a tight ship.

The Hotel is very nice for the value, I booked the single pod room which was smaller than expected but it has everything you need, and the water pressure for showers was AMAZING which is pretty uncommon in NYC. The Hotel is very close to Grand Central. Cleaning Service comes to your rook everyday, they didn't change the sheets but they did make the bed & empty out trash cans.

The rooms are small, but this is a huge part of the idea of the hotel! My brother and I shared a bunk room which was met all our needs for a 5 night stay. The room is basic but has everything you need in it (including towels, a safe, hairdryer, soaps and shampoos etc).

We chose to stay here based on previous reviews, the location and the comparative price to other hotels. The location in Midtown was great - we walked for much of our trip and could reach Central Park in 30mins. The Empire State Building was about 20mins away too. We also made use of the water taxi one day to get down to Lower Manhattan (much nicer than the subway and only $4 per person one way!). This leaves from East 34th Street and was less than 15mins away on foot.

We made the most of the complimentary tea and coffee most mornings and did buy pastries on four of our five mornings. The breakfast options are quite limited so bear this in mind if you want a full continental or cooked breakfast as you won't get this here. We went to the rooftop bar once which had some stunning views at night!

In summary: if you just want a comfy base camp to sleep in and shower at which is in a great location, at a more reasonable price, stay here.

Location - perfect for mid-Manhattan where you can walk anywhere from here.
Room - okay, it's tiny. Fine for a couple or a close friend. It's a sliding door to the bathroom so you can hear everything (if you know what I mean). The partition is also frosted glass so you can see the outline of the person taking a shower. But it was fine for a place to crash and watch TV (so many channels) at night. I was there for 2 nights with a friend. It was clean and there's actually daily housekeeping. I slept soundly and didn't find it noisy outside or in the halls.
Staff - awesome. Friendly and helpful front desk. You can store luggage there, and there's a public washroom in lobby. They emailed me after checking out to let me know right away that I had left my mouthguard in the room.
Amenities - have access to a fitness center off-site which I didn't use. The cute bar at the back had a free water dispenser.
Note there's a "resort fee" but it's still cheaper than most hotels in the area.
I would stay here again!

Disfrutadlo!!
