I have visited New York plenty of times and have stayed in different hotels before, Hampton Inn Grand Central has one of the friendliest staff in town. Read my other review about another hotel in New York. It was horrific. One of the reasons why we switched to this hotel on the same trip was because of the unpleasant experiences at the other hotel (We traveled as a group in January). This review is overdue. We want to show our appreciation especially to Scott. We checked in smoothly with Scott at the desk and he was friendly, competent, professional, and welcoming. He was diametrically opposite to the staff we encountered at the other hotel before checking in to this hotel. Scott’s professionalism was pronounced. I was grateful for Scott as I traveled with a group of people from Hong Kong. I did not want them to feel that New York is a horrible place to visit because of the horrific experiences from the previous hotel. Scott saved the day! The hotel location is awesome if you like to be close to everything and Grand Central station is within a few blocks. I would not recommend staying at the Grand Central’s hotel for the reasons I stated in my other review at that hotel. Also, if you are reading this review because you want to stay close to the station, Hampton Inn is within a few blocks from Grand Central. It is an easy walk as well. The room itself is clean and spacious by New York standards. Everything worked in the room. The complimentary breakfast was adequate, and it is a plus especially if you travel with your family. We had a total of five rooms and all of us agreed our overall experiences at Hampton Inn were far more pleasant. Next time I come to New York, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and stayed her for five nights at start of February to celebrate my 40th Birthday. The staff on the front reception were warm, bubbly and very helpful from the moment we arrived. The hotel is not very big, but has everything you need for a city break. Our room was at the front of the building and it was very clean and well equipped. The bed was honestly the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept on 10 out of 10.The shower was very roomy and constantly stocked up with supplies. We made good use of the breakfast which was a great saving and convenient, it was well stocked up and the staff continuously refilled everything. Coffee all day was also very useful. I was even surprised one night of my stay with a lovely treat for my birthday and the bedroom door colourfully decorated, it was a lovely touch.

The location of this hotel is very good it is less than two minute walk from Grand Central where you can get a train or sub-way anywhere. However, we walked from this hotel across to Broadway and Times Square a number of times and it was an easy walk.

Would definitely return and recommend to others.

We stayed this hotel for a week. We are family of four (with two teenagers) and booked a room with city view and with 2 douple beds. Room had everything that we needed with great stay at the city. Hotel is at great location, very close to Grand Central, and from there you can reach all parts of Manhattan with so many Subway lines to choose for. It was also nice to have a complimentary breakfast. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. Room was always clean when we came back after long day at the city. Will definitely stay here again!

Upon entering the hotel room, we noticed it was very musty, even with the a.c on. There is no vent in the bathroom and therefore the room becomes very humid and damp all the time, which can be uncomfortable when you're trying to sleep. The remote was greasy and there was some type of sticky white tape residue on the bottom. The room phone also had some funky crust on the dial pad and it did not work when we tried to call down to the front desk- just got the busy beep, so we had to call the front desk from our cell phone. The room had a coffee maker and coffee packets but no paper cups. This is the first hotel I've stayed in where the comforter and top blanket are combined- mine was stained on the bottom and I noticed one of the pillows had some yellow stains on the side as well. I stayed here on a business trip with my elderly parents. One of them has a medical condition where they get up tp use the bathroom about 6 times a night. The problem with the room (other than everything already mentioned) is that the bathroom has a very heavy sliding door, instead of the regular door that opens and closes. One of my parents is very old and could barely open the door and close it that many times and I also had trouble opening it and I'm pretty strong. This made it very stressful for them at night. What is the alternative, to use the bathroom with the door open? - impossible when the bathroom toilet directly faces the beds. The sliding door also doesn't close all the way so there's about an inch and that doesn't leave a lot of privacy, either, which is also very uncomfortable. I've stayed in hotel rooms in various parts of NYC and this is one of the smallest. We had a 2 night stay. After the first night I tried calling Hampton Inn corporate and expressing the medical concerns of my party and asked their corporate manager to move me to another hotel within their branch and that I'd be happy to pay the difference. The "manager" which was obviously someone from overseas, said that I have to just book another room myself and see that if this hotel will refund me later on. I chose this very cheap hotel only because it is within a block of a private event at the U.N that we were in attendance of on both days of our NYC stay and so it was literally the only reason why we stayed. Hampton Inn (Hilton) did not care about my families medical needs in regards the room and offered no help whatsoever. The web doesn't make it clear that this hotel had sliding doors for their bathrooms, so I really wasn't aware of this ahead of time. The woman at the front desk is also very abrupt and unhelpful. I do not recommend staying at this hotel at all. It's one thing to deal with a dirty hotel room, but it's another when they will not even try to accommodate you when there are medical issues involved.

We were in Manhattan for a birthday dinner. The staff was super helpful (I requested a mini fridge and extra pillow, both came quickly.) The location was perfect (near GCT) The room was "cozy" (though average by NYC standards) but perfectly adequate for our quick overnight trip, and w/breakfast included, a GREAT value. We'd definitely stay again.

the hotel location was great, midtown manhattan but near the quieter area of the UN HQ away from the noise and visual pollution of times square. grand central station was conveniently a couple blocks away. personnel had an agreeable trait and were helpful with our questions. the business center have all the material needed for virtual meetings and the gym had full equipment for training. the room was of fair size and I kind of like the whole 'clean by request' system (we still dont know if cleaning personnel entered in the room on non cleaning days anyway. or perhaps there's a central light switch at a certain time because we never left lights on, or maybe it was just the connecting room neighbours pranking) the breakfast could've been better but it had enough to fill one in (please consider serving non cheddar cheese more than once a week!) the bagels were soft and yummy. overall a nice experience, on par with previous hilton + branches accomodation ones.

The only really good thing about this hotel is the location, just up the road from grand central making it easy to get to all the main sites. As long as your intending not to spend too much time in your hotel room this place is fine. It has hot water and the rooms are clean, although in 4 days they only came once to make up the room and change towels, even though we were out all day every day!! We had two rooms and both had interconnecting doorways to other rooms, you can basically hear everything that goes on next door, including when the couple next door decided to have some noisy ‘fun’ 2 nights running! The breakfast is disgusting, we took one look and decided against it, the room you have breakfast in is shabby to say the least and the rubber omelettes and fat dripping bacon look like they would give you more problems. Don’t fear though there are plenty of good breakfast places nearby. If I come to NY again I will not be staying here unless the hotel has a much needed refit!

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere appreciation for taking the time to leave a review of your stay. Thank you so much for your feeback. We really appreciate your feedback, and we will be using your comments to boost all areas of service. Regarding room condition, we are constantly working with Hilton on making some upgrades to our property. We're currently awaiting shipments of new seating for all areas (lobby, breakfast, and guest rooms) while also working on plans for a full-property refresh. On behalf of the entire World Famous Hampton Inn Grand Central team, it was a pleasure to serve you.

We were warmly welcomed by each of the team members during our stay. When we asked for housekeeping items, they were brought to our room within 5 minutes, which was greatly appreciated. Comfortable and clean rooms in a great location for tourists and business people (3 blocks from Grand Central Station)

Kaina was honestly great, her customer service was impeccable and she was super helpful. The rooms were ok and the location was great. There was a 99 cent pizza shop right down the street, it’s about a 5 min walk to grand central so the subway was super close. Very convenient and nice hotel to stay at!

Some areas of the hotel are shabby (lobby, breakfast area, some room furniture) and some are fine (beds have good mattresses and linens; pillows are cheap). Bathroom in our room was tiny, shower worked OK but hot water was sporadic and water pressure not great. Carpeting in room was old and that grossed us out. Breakfast was adequate and nice that it was included with price of room. The location is what this hotel can boast about, if you are looking to be close to Grand Central Station. Otherwise I recommend to spend a bit more on a hotel that doesn't look like it dragged in furniture from the trash bin to furnish the public areas as well as part of the rooms. Staff is super friendly and helpful and kudos to them for presenting a uniformly positive attitude. They are the best part of this hotel.

We didn’t need to do that but I’m fairly certain that can do it. I would also let them know your arrival time in advance. They are very accommodating and may be able to get you into your room if it’s available.

Sorry for long delay. You can get a Cab for 55-70 dollars or Sky Train to Brookyln then subway towards Grand Central only about 12 dollars a person 😉
