My husband and I spent 4 nights at this hotel during our stay in New York City. It's a great little boutique hotel -- rich in history and ambiance and with spacious guest rooms. Andy and Matthew are terrific -- they take really good care of the guests there and are wonderful with restaurant recommendations and theatre tips. (Listen to...

This is a long but well deserved review. My wife and I prefer to travel slightly off the beaten track, looking for authentic opportunities to blend in with locals, without compromising cleanliness and safety. On this trip we wanted a different kind of Manhattan experience, something a little more bohemian, away from Midtown. The Blue Moon Hotel helped deliver this...

I stayed in the Blue Moon's smallest room for three nights in late July - what a marvelous experience. First, the location - I have stayed in midtown for my other trips to NYC, but for this trip I wanted to be downtown, simply because I've never really explored downtown before. The Blue Moon is in the Lower East Side...

This hotel is everything that the description says - lovely, characterful building, comfortable bed, great shower (and a bathtub) and I was so grateful for the aircon! Many hotels turn it off when you go out and you return to a nasty hot room - not the case here! I had one of the smaller rooms, but it was still...

This hotel is quirky, off the beaten path, and no frills. The location was convenient to the subway, but not recommended for someone not familiar with getting around in the city. Upgraded to a room with the balcony, which was nice but overlooked the trash set out between the adjacent building. Unfortunately my room was the one mentioned by another...

I drove up to New York City to meet friends getting in past midnight. Alas, the hotel I was planning to stay at couldn't put me up for the night because of flooding so they sent me to this cute little hotel. The room I ended up was very light and airy. A pure joy to wake up in the...

The Blue Moon is in a great location. Close to the subway and close to dinning and entertainment. If they would upgrade a few things, such as the pillows, a normal size ironing board, and their blinds, it would be a perfect 10. Despite those little things, I loved it. I look forward to staying there again. Andy was great...

The place was nice but the noise from honking horns and trucks was horrible. I woke up every hour. And the TV had a terrible buzzing noise so I could not even watch TV. No room service either. I told the man at the front desk about the TV and he said yes someone else mentioned that too. Why would...

Charming, relaxing, perfect weekend away. The hotel left no detail unattended. The owner and staff were truly memorable. We stayed in the Al Jolson room and were blown away by the view of the Williamsburg Bridge-esp when lit up at nite. We were next door to the Tenement Museum bookstore and enjoyed the museum tour as well as an eating/walking...

This hotel is hidden amist the hustle and bustle of China Town. Though the hotel may be small, the rooms were large and comfortable enough for 3 ladies and all our accessories. Staff was exceptionally helpful - especially our 'tour director' Paul. Steered us to some lovely local restaurants and sites to see. Would definately go back again.

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
