We stayed 6/28 - 7/1 in an Executive King room. Clean and comfortable, the room was spacious by NYC standards. Staff were all attentive and helpfu and even provided several treats in honor of my partner's birthday. On our last evening, guests in the adjacent room decided it might be fun to set off the fire alarm, and later, at...

When I arrived at Hotel Mela for the second time, I found a very small room without a desk (I was at an educational conference and needed a desk). The staff worked to change my room to give me a desk and were very accomodating. They were all courteous and friendly, working hard to give guests a wonderful experience at...

I travel on business about 3 weeks out of every month. Big city hotels tend to be snobby and unreliable. Not the Hotel Mela! The staff is courteous, the rooms very clean and I've never been disappointed with a stay I switched my loyalty to this hotel from a major chain and have stayed here several times. They provide the...

"I'm just nipping to Starbucks in Times Square for a coffee" This was our first trip to NYC and after a 5 day stay we really appreciated the Mela's central location. It's only 3 minutes to talk to Times Square and a total of about 5-7 minutes to the subway. Our room was at the back of the hotel on...

I booked my short 2-night stay at this property via Priceline so I did not select the specific hotel. Needless to say, when I saw the hotel name I was a bit dubious - I was expecting one of the "bigger" brand hotels in NY. I suspended disbelief and have to say, this is really a wonderful little hotel. Things...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
