The Empire Hotel boasts a prime location favored by guests for its proximity to Lincoln Center and Central Park, complemented by a beautiful lobby and a pleasing overall atmosphere. However, reviewers frequently point out that the charm doesn't extend to the guest rooms, which suffer from issues like poor air conditioning, noise, and cleanliness concerns.
While the beds are comfortable, travelers are often disappointed by the additional fees and the lack of amenities such as in-room coffee. The service quality is inconsistent, with some staff members coming across as friendly and others as unresponsive.

Detailed Reviews
No tea and coffee making facilities in rooms despite what website says or mini bar but get 2 very small complimentary water bottles each morning.
Billed as mid range 3 star hotel but carpets hard and well worn,,low lighting masks some very tired decor posing as "boutique "...in the U.K. This would definitely not pass as a boutique hotel.
Booked in Feb 2019 for new year 2020 asking for them high floor room and a bottle in the room for partners birthday, got neither, told that hotel was too full.
Got 4th floor with a view of the back of the other rooms and a very noisy air con outside that NEVER goes off so take earplugs.
Roof top bar great place to relax but this is NOT part of hotel so no special discounts or treatment. Nice views of the Lincoln centre and broadway.
Good location but be aware if youve never been ,food is very expensive and you have to add tax to everything pls tips.PJ Clarkes bar/restaurant is nice right next to hotel.

Dear Jenick43, Thank you for choosing the Empire Hotel and for taking your time to provide us with your feedback. I am very sorry for not being able to provide you with a wonderful New Year experience... We are making ways in improving our services for coffee/tea. We do not offer them in rooms, but we do have the Empire Rooftop which is our restaurant and PJ Clarke’s as well who serve coffee and tea. The Rooftop have them available to go. I hope we can provide you with a much better room experience the next time you visit. Our Superior King rooms above have a much better view. Once again, I am very sorry for the trouble you had. Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime. My very best, Leilani

On arrival we were early so rooms were not ready, however they offered to upgrade our room for free if we wanted to have separate rooms rather than interlocking which was fine as these were ready. Room was OK but needed a bit of updating, especially the bathroom. The main issues were the noise from the road outside and the cold due to poor windows. We had to have the heating on most of the time which made just as much noise as the beeping horns and sirens. We were on the fourth floor. However room was clean and comfortable beds and the staff were polite and helpful.
Hotel was in a great location, 5 minutes from central park and 20 minute walk to times square.
Beware of the residence tax before booking as this is an extra £25 per room/night. This had been included in our holiday booking but basically for us this paid for 2 small bottles of water a day. Ensure to check their website for details of this.

We recently stayed in The Empire Hotel on a 4 night stay in New York. I was a bit dubious after reading mixed reviews but I can honestly say I can’t fault the hotel. From the helpful lobby staff to the room service, we had an amazing stay. The rooms are generous in size and the beds are amazingly comfy - perfect after a full day of site seeing. The location is perfect, situated only a 1 minute walk from Central Park and you can easily walk into Timesquare in about 15 mins or jump on the underground. As some other reviews state, it can be quite noisy at times with the traffic but where isn’t in New York! The noise didn’t stop us from sleeping or enjoying our stay. Ignore the poor reviews, we loved it and would definitely be recommending to friends and family planning their trips to New York! Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Absolutely loved my stay here, couldn’t have picked a fault with location / hotel etc until I arrived at the airport realising
my airpods were gone from my bag. i did not check if my airpods were in my bag as they had not been used or left my bag in the whole time i was in NYC.
I contacted the hotel and they weren’t helpful at all - airpods have been removed from Find my iPhone which after speaking to apple support means someone has them and has reset them. Extremely disappointed with the response as they were removed during my stay I would have thought the hotel may have been more helpful.
We 10000% checked everywhere in the room so they were not left at all - checked under the bed and every possible place things could’ve been left.
Very unhappy guest!

It was terrible air control quality. There is no water given and you’re charged for extra toilet paper. Room smelt of mold and was the size of a shoe closet. $150 refundable deposit on room in case of any damages when everything in the room is worth less than stuff you’d find in a dollar store.

If you are traveling to New York to attend concerts at Lincoln Center, the location of the Empire is unbeatable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are a little small, but not unexpected for New York. Overall a great value.

An Instagram v reality hotel - looks great on the outside & in the lobby, but beyond that it is in need of some serious TLC. The rooms are dated & we had to call reception at 2am for assistance to get some air into the room as it was too hot & the rickety unit was shut off. The view from the room window would have been great if it was clean and the wifi was the worst I’ve used on my travels for years, making the “resort fee” all the more laughable. Furthermore, unlike any other hotel I’ve travelled to across the world, the reception at check out didn’t remind/inform me that I had to pay that “resort fee”, so I’ve just seen it pop up on my credit card bill (that card was holding card for incidentals rather than the one I would pay with given I also incurred a nice non-Sterling charge so thanks for that as well). All in all, this was not the treat I had hoped it would be for my partner. This is hotel is in a superb location and has the possibility to be great, but the fact a number of the lights are out in the Empire Hotel sign sums up how frayed it has become at the edges. A real shame.

This hotel appears great in the pictures, and whilst the lobby looks grand when you enter it, it basically stops there. This review is positive, but the hotel could be so much better for the money you spend on it and the location.
Staff are friendly and helpful. However, we had a key issue when we arrived. It appears the staff know keys stuggle as they tell you not to put it anywhere near anything electronic. Upon arrival we were given the wrong room number, so late at night we were trying to access a room that wasn't ours. The staff member laughed and gave us the correct room number only for the key not to work (we were just holding it) we went up and down the lifts twice! With no apology
Note: When you check in, staff offer you bottled water (free), take it as there is nothing else in the hotel (other than pre booked roof top bar)
Rooms are basic, spacious, and clean but tired. The aircon unit is cold but so loud that you can barely hear yourself think, let alone talk. In the room, there is a fridge in the wardrobe, a small table iron board, iron, and an umbrella.
Note: There is no safe in the room. This worried us as we had to keep hold of our passports all the time.
The bathroom is clean and has a hair dryer in the cupboard under the sink. The hotel provides toiletries which are nice. The shower has fast raining hot water, and there are plenty of sized towels.
Note: There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
There is no bar in the hotel, no restaurant, or anywhere to get food or drink.
The rooftop bar is lovely but not owed by the hotel and is very expensive. However, of the 3 days we were here, it was closed to private functions.. Not great! The hotel doesn't have any issues with you bringing food and drink back to your room. Starbucks is next door for a nice morning coffee.
The pool is hilarious. The hotel website makes it look so beautiful. It's not! It's very tiny both in length and width, and there are maybe 5 sunbeds. The pool is open from 11 am, and weather permitted. Disabled people could not access this area unless you had access to the service lift.
Overall, we enjoyed our time here but wouldn't return. The location is right next to Central Park and not too far from Times Square.

Located directly across the street from Lincoln Center, the Empire Hotel is a charming, friendly, convenient hotel in the thick of NYC. We were greeted immediately as we drove up, given quick directions to check-in while receiving our pickup ticket for Valet Parking. At check-in, Luis welcomed us, thanked us for coming and asked the reason for our visit. When I explained we were there to see our son's performance at the Met Opera (his first) we we congratulated and he said he'd upgrade us and gave us a room overlooking Lincoln Center Plaza.
Everyone from Bellman to Maid service were friendly and professional.
We will certainly return!

No tea or coffee facilities just starbucks on the corner..
Very disappointing hotel for many reasons but location is brilliant
I’m not sure. As a guest, they probably can’t stop you, but on the other hand the people who work there are trying to make a living and pay rent, so I’d suggest doing the BYO thing back in your room.
Unfortunately I cannot help with the answer. I have no idea. You need to contact the hotel directly.
The room had space to put in a microwave but we had no use for one. There was a coffee shop on the corner & we were very close to decent amenities. I was able to make a hot drink in my room. I didn’t know the hotel could offer this service
Good day. The pool is open daily, from 11am-7pm, weather permitting. The pool will close on Labor Day.
