The suite was a great choice as it meant we could have breakfast in instead of eating out the whole time, it was well equipped and quite spacious in terms of New York standards. The decor was slightly outdated but the room was very comfortable and had good views. The hotel is within walking distance to many things such as Central Park.
The Hotel Beacon is still my beloved home away from home in NYC. What makes it truly special is the team - I'm filled with gratitude and joy, coming back each year to run the NYC marathon and seeing the same loyal, service-oriented, friendly faces, ready to make my stay as comfortable as possible. From the moment I enter, Favio takes my heavy luggage out of the cab, Manny and Katherine at the front desk check me in and make sure I have everything I need, dear Dawn in Reservations has already reserved a perfectly quiet room for me, and the guys at the Concierge station will always be ready with a helping hand, a great recommendation, a call for a cab, etc. The housekeeping team is stellar, making my room spotless each day, with dishes washed in the kitchenette, plenty of fresh towels and everything cleaned to perfection. Of course, there is more to a perfect stay than just the staff, and the Hotel Beacon offers it all. The rooms are extremely comfortable, quiet and spacious. Each has a kitchenette so I can either make a quick breakfast or take advantage of the nearby delicious takeout options (especially appreciated during times when eating indoors can be risky). The beds are super comfy and there is plenty of room to spread out in - I always stay for a week or more and never feel cramped and have plenty of room to spread things out with two closets and ample drawer space. The location is ideal - a couple blocks from the subway, Central Park, Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum, too many great restaurants to even visit in one trip, and so much more. In these days when AirBnBs and other short-term rentals cannot be depended upon (and they're illegal in Manhattan anyway!), a place like the Hotel Beacon is a rare and welcome find, offering all the convenience and space of a short-term rental with the added benefits of a hotel. Thank you, Hotel Beacon, and team for staying as wonderful as you've always been. I know this must sound like an advertisement, but my opinion is genuine - I will never stay anywhere else and can't wait to return again and again!…
Fantastic hotel, fantastic location! Arrived very late on 4/01/23 at first was put in a studio instead of a suite, the chap on reception was very helpful and swiftly moved us into the right room. Beautiful suite, clean and spacious.I always find a fault with cleanliness of a hotel room but this suite was spotlessly clean. Every staff member we came across was polite. Next door there’s a fabulous restaurant, we ate breakfast here 4 out of 5 days, also had a lovely lunch on the day we left. The omelettes are a must, they are delicious! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a hotel away from the craziness of time square. The subway is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, only 1 stop and you’re in time square. We was a-bit dubious about using the subway, but absolutely no need to we felt safe. Hotel Beacon will be our go to hotel when visiting New York, we can’t wait to return!…
Enjoyed a great stay at The Beacon Hotel. We had a corner suite that afforded beautiful views from the 20th floor. The kitchenette was a plus for preparing snacks, tea, coffee, etc. fully stocked for meals if needed. Hotel was convenient to Fairway Market and the subway stop. Need patience with the elevators. Adjoining restaurant for meals was an added bonus
Fantastic hotel - spacious suite was perfect for us for 6 days in the city at Christmas with two children (6&4) sharing the sofa bed. Cleaned to high standard each day. Staff always really helpful. Starbucks and a good restaurant literally next door. Great mini super market opposite. Metro a short walk and Central Park only a few blocks away. Nice touch on check out our children received goodie bags for the holidays We will stay again
In contrast to many hotels in New York the rooms are spacious, which was perfect for us as a family of 4. All the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from Central Park and it’s easy to get to the subway, which is just one stop away from Times Square by the express lines so it’s very easy to get downtown. I’d very happily stay here again.
Quiet, clean, nice to not have to run out for breakfast. Only change I would want is a real black out curtain that covers the entire window in the bedroom. If you don't want housekeeping, you need a way to remove dirty dishes and get clean ones. I will definitely stay here again!
My wife and I spent 9 days happy days at Hotel Beacon, in early September 2022. It's on Broadway, next to the Beacon Theater on the Upper West Side. Tired from our flight from London, we were greeted by the friendly reception staff and quickly booked in. A couple of hours later we thought we would stroll over to Central Park. The duty manager (Who was great throughout the holiday) insisted we take an umbrella, it certainly didn't look like it was going to rain but we indulged him. Within a few minutes of reaching the park (less than a 10-minute walk), it started to rain! Our room was a standard king-size room on the 12th floor overlooking Broadway. We couldn't hear any street noise and hardly heard our neighbours. The room was large enough for both of us and included a kitchenette, which we used most days. We bought most of our hot food in the evenings from Fairway market across the road from the hotel, which was tasty and good value. Some nights we would walk over to Amsterdam Avenue for drinks and ice cream. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to interest most people. All the staff at the hotel were friendly and courteous. I would recommend Hotel Beacon, It's away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but could easily be reached by the subway station just a few minute's walk from the hotel. We will be back! …
The Mr. and I stayed here in 2019, so when I started planning a friend's trip, I knew the Hotel Beacon was the perfect choice. We booked the double queen room. Two beds + a pullout sofa, gave each of us our own bed. We loved having a living room area to sit and talk together. It was nice to have a refrigerator for drinks and goodies and having two closets was a plus. We had room for everything. Housekeeping kept our rooms spotless and the bathroom well stocked with towels. A note of welcome and a bottle of wine was such a nice touch. Thank you Hotel Beacon for making our stay in NYC such a pleasure! Additional Pros: Location, staff, great restaurants, and a subway just a few blocks away. HIGHLY recommended.
We stayed here for 5 nights with our teenage son. We had a 1 bedroom suite on floor 5 overlooking Main Street (Broadway). We did not find it too noisy. Big rooms with lounge/kitchen and the separate bedroom with 2 doubles . The lounge had a sofa bed and the bathroom was nicely fitted. The kitchen was very well equipped for doing simple things. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and courteous. The location was exactly what we wanted . A nice safe area, night and day, away from the bustle of Midtown but very close to subway to get around really easily . We also walked a lot , Central Park is a few blocks away , past the Dakota Buliding and in via Strawberry fields. The natural history museum is also very close by. We also walked down to mid town quite a bit as well which took around 30 mins . Other than that we took subway . Really quick even to get to through to Brooklyn on the express lines . Great selection of local restaurants and cafes in nearby streets behind hotel towards Central Park (we had good pizza at patsys ). The area has a nice feel about it. There is a great old style diner next to the hotel which was fantastic for breakfast and a supermarket across the street. The Beacon Theatre is also in the same building . It looked good from outside but we did not see anything there. Would definitely use this hotel again.…
