I needed a hotel for just one night and was looking for a nice hotel that didn't break the bank. The hotel's location is within a few steps of Washington Square which is a small but beautiful park near Greenwich. Once inside, the front desk area is quite dark and confined, and I was glad there wasn't a crowd waiting...

I was quite looking forward to staying at the Washington Square Hotel. However, I found it to be a disappointment. The location is very pleasant – on tree-lined Waverly Place, just a few yards from Washington Square in Greenwich Village. It may very possibly be the same hotel that Joan Baez mentioned in her song “Diamonds and Rust.” The hotel...

I needed to attend a conference in Greenwich Village and found the location of the Washington Square Hotel a real boon. Easy walking to nearly every place I needed to go. The staff was friendly and helpful, the complimentary breakfast very welcome (and better than some versions of this), and the overall feel of the hotel shaped by courteous attention....

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Washington Square Hotel. If you are looking to stay in Greenwich Village I would highly recommend. The Art Deco design is well done, nice clean accommodations, friendly helpful staff and great location. The hotel layout is a little quirky with its heavy hallway doors. The continental breakfast is nice touch....

I needed to be near an event, and this hotel's location was perfect. With all the excellent reviews here on TA, I wasn't really concerned about the lack of viable alternatives in the area. So I spent 2 nights here, flabbergasted at the poor quality of the accommodations versus the amount I was paying, and then checked out and went...

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and found it to be clean, comfortable and convenient! We booked the executive king room and it was HUGE. I heard that the standard rooms are small and share bathrooms, so make sure you know what you are booking. Our room was on the 7th floor, just off the elevator. Surprisingly...

Spend 5 nights at this hotel early June. Had a quad room on first floor. What a fantastic stay, beds were soooo comfy, room was clean and well appointed. The added bonus of a breakfast chucked in the rate was much better than expected, and the location was just the best... so near to fab restaurants, bars and shopping yet...

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
