Many travelers commend The Irois New York for its exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms, though they are often described as compact and lacking in some amenities. While the hotel's charming decor is well-liked, the value proposition is sometimes questioned due to hidden fees. The location is a highlight, with guests loving its convenience for sightseeing while being sufficiently removed from the hustle and bustle. Despite the praise for the attentive service and the complimentary breakfast, some guests have reported shortcomings in the amenities offered and check-in efficiency.

The Iroquois is perfectly located on a quiet street so close to Broadway, NYPL, Empire State Building. Its a quick, easy 10-15 min walk from Penn Station. Room rates are reasonable if staying on the right nights, rooms are small but beautiful and clean-icing on the cake was heated bathroom floors. 24 hr fitness and dry sauna provides water and towels and a pelaton. Front desk and door man very friendly and welcoming. This was our 2nd stay and would highly recommend

What a lovely experience staying at this hotel. Where do I start the room was really beautiful and so comfy. Underfloor heating in the beautiful bathroom to make early morning shower so inviting . Housekeeping service every day hotel was spotless. The location is fantastic just a short stroll to Nroadway and Times Square and yet complete silence in the bedroom at night for a great nights sleep I am not sure how they achieve this. Lovely wine and cheese reception on the Thursday evening we were there in the lobby really nice idea to meet some fellow guests. Wasn’t sure about the tea coffee at reception in the mornings rather than this facility in the room, before I went but have to say it was ideal no faffing around with small cups and cartons we could get a very good take away cup of coffee just outside the lift door and bring back to the room without all the mess. The staff we met during our stay couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful from the bell hops to the concierge and reception staff all willing to go that extra mile to oblige special mention to DJ Irma and Oliver. Negatives ? I honestly cannot think of 1 except cocktails are pretty pricey in the cocktail bar but I suppose that’s New York prices. I hope I will get the opportunity to return some day and I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Manhattan.

Ok I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Let’s start with the good things. The location is phenomenal. The hotel is between 5 and 6 Ave right by Bryant Park. The lobby smells wonderful. The doormen are very nice. The suite was big. The bathroom was also very large,I love that it had a little window and that the floors were heated. The room temp. and cleanliness were a 5. There was turn down service in the evening. Large windows in the suite. The reasons I won’t give the hotel above 4 stars- the elevator was tiny and took a very long time. We were on the 5th floor and often took the stairs. The lobby is small and the elevator is by the front desk and the people at
the front desk rarely spoke to us as we waited for the elevator or as we came in. The Lantern bar was open and popular, Friday night when we arrived, and we never saw it open again. I liked the room a lot, so if you are looking for a really good hotel room, I highly recommend it. If you are looking for more amenities and movement in a hotel this one isn’t the one.

Responded Mar 8, 2020
Dear AdiCairoU, Thank you for your kind and honest review. I do apologize for the issues with the elevator and can guarantee this will only be a temporary issue. We are currently undergoing some necessary maintenance to our second elevator, and will have it back and running as soon as possible. It has been a struggle, but it should not be for too much longer. The bar is open every day starting at 5:00, but is always closed on Sundays. Since we know those hours can be inconvenient at times, we always have prosecco available at the front desk upon request. In the near future our property and amenities will be greatly improved, and I hope you will be able to return to see how great everything turns out. Warm Regards, Tom Front Office Manager

Family of 4, stayed 5 nights in Dec 2020, in 2 rooms.

Plus:
a. Excellent location, within walking distance to New York’s top attractions including Broadway, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Bryant Park.
b. Friendly doorman.
c. Comfortable bed, cozy room. Heated bathroom floor is a big bonus.

Minus:
a. No coffee/ tea making facilities in room. Complementary cofee is provided at lobby in the morning but we missed having our decaf cuppa in the evening.
b. No complementary bottled water nor an electric kettle in the room. Not sure if this is unique to NYC hotels but this is the only hotels in my 16 days US trip whereby we have to pay for water and this is not exactly a budget hotel.

Read somewhere there is nightly turndown service with chocolates and daily delivery of The New York Times but we didn't have any of those (likely discontinued). We are generally happy with our stay at The Iroquois.

Other than food, accommodation takes up a big chunk of our budget for NYC, may be worthwhile staying in NJ or Brooklyn and train in/ out of Manhattan. But for first time visitor to NYC with a flexible budget, stay in Manhattan.

Dear WBChew, Thank you for your kind and detailed review of your time at the Iroquois! It is so nice to know that you enjoyed so much about the hotel, as well as our wonderful doormen. While we do not have complimentary water bottles in the room, they are always available at the front desk upon request, and though we do not have kettles we can do the same with requests for hot water as well. We do still provide turndown service, but again it is upon request. I am glad to hear that you had an overall great time staying with us, and we all hope to welcome you back soon!

It was our 10th birthday, the reception had a very nice detail as we had a quiet room and a bottle of wine waiting for us. The treatment at the reception was great indicating places to diner, thank you so much Damian, Carlos, Charlie… also to the whole team who made our 4 day stay extraordinary, after so much time not being able to travel.

Perfect location on a quiet street between 5th and 6th, rockfeller, grand central and times square 5 minutes walk, metro connections to visit the whole city.

A recommendation if you arrive or leave from Newark, get the airport express bus. The stop ($ 18.5) is between 41st and Lexinton, and takes about 40/60 minutes.

I absolutely loved this hotel - it was extremely clean, the staff was so helpful and friendly, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We requested a room change twice due to noisy neighbors and odors, and the staff immediately addressed these issues without hesitation. The gym was open with limited capacity and reservations, which I appreciated as it allowed for more privacy anyway. Breakfast was also provided each morning, and we were able to request a refrigerator for our room as well. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was very close walking distance to Times Square without being in the heart of the noise. I would definitely stay here again.

This was the second time we stayed at the Iroquois, and we enjoyed this stay just as much as our visit last year. The front desk staff was welcoming and efficient, providing superior service and responding quickly with anything we needed.

The location cannot be beaten with quick access to anywhere in midtown Manhattan just a few minutes walk away.

The Iroquois (Presidential) and Executive suites are a good size and offer a comfortable, quiet stay. Quite enjoyed the heated bathroom floors and in the Iroquois Suite the steam shower. It's also nice to have windows in the bathroom for the natural light.

I agree with most of the reviews that the absence of a coffee maker or tea kettle does dilute the overall guest experience, but we did bring our own kettle and mugs, so it wasn't much of a problem for us. We did have a Nespresso machine in our Iroquois Suite, but there were no capsules or coffee cups provided, so the device served no purpose. Also, there was a dining room table but no tableware, so we made do with paper and plastic from take-away places.

Appreciate the chocolates left on the bed each night during turn-down service but would have to say housekeeping needs to pay more bit attention to service details as we had a couple of hiccups, but none severe enough to elaborate here.

We've enjoyed our last 2 stays so much that we've already booked our stay for 2021 and look forward to returning then.

Dear jayandglenn, Thank you for your review! We appreciate you being a repeat guest! It means the world to us knowing that you enjoy your stays with us every time. The Iroquois Suite is equipped with a Nespresso machine and the coffee is brought up upon request. Do not worry! I have made a note for your visit in 2021 and we will have everything ready for you prior to arrival. We usually, do not have silverware in the Iroquois Suite unless requested. However, you do bring a valid point. We will discuss this with our Management Team and we should have that resolved very soon. We look forward to having you back with us next year. Cheers to many more stays! Vanessa Guest Relations Manager

This is a small boutique upscale hotel in the heart of the theater district. It has been completey renovated in a contemporary style although I miss the library off the lobby, which has been turned into a small space for relaxing. The restaurant was under renovation when I was there but there is a bar adjoining the lobby.

Pros: I stayed in a "Superior" room. It was small but adequate for one person. It may be cramped for two. The furniture is attractive and very good quality. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom is an adequate size with good shelf space. The bathroom floor is heated (nice touch!) although there was no instruction card and I couldn't figure out how to work the controls (I had to ask at the front desk). There was a walk-in closet with an ironing board, iron, safe, bathrobe and slippers. The front desk staff is exceptionally friendly, polite and caring, knowledgeable about nearby restaurants and always willing to help. I was offered a glass of prosecco or a bottle of water on check-in. There was wine and cheese in the lobby for guests on the Thursday night I was there.

Cons: I asked for a quiet room on a higher floor away from the elevators. My room had a small window over the bed with a view of a fire escape and the back of another building. I asked if there was a room with a better view available. None of the rooms have great views because the hotel is sandwiched between buildings. I was told that any other room wouldn't be as quiet so I stayed where I was. Heat throughout the space was not uniform. The window in the walk-in closet was old so the closet was cold and my clothes were cold when I took them out. The window in the shower stall also was old so the stall was cold until the hot water warmed it up. The heating system was loud when it cycled on. None of these were deal breakers for me and I would stay here again.

My husband and I rented the Iroquois Suite, plus an adjoining room for us to stay with our toddler for three nights. The hotel far exceeded our expectations, as we typically stay at The Four Seasons when traveling and have historically stayed at The Greenwich when in Manhattan.our family was visiting and picked the Iroquois, so we booked a room there instead. The service was unbelievable each time we called to make a request and no matter who was on duty. The rooms were spotless and well appointed, and parking was conveniently located right across the street. The central location is close to the theater district and Times Square, but not in the thick of it. Central Park is easily accessible, as well. The value was exceptional, and we will absolutely stay there again.

We stayed at the Iroquois before but found our room this time to be disappointing. (We stayed in a Deluxe room, so not the best, but not the worst either.) The bathroom in particular was long and thin and I don't know that an obese person could have fit comfortably in the shower. (This is despite the fact that their website says a Deluxe room "includes an oversized wall-to-wall marble bath." You would have needed to be a Lilliputian from Guillver's Travels to consider the bath oversized.) The bed was comfortable and our room, in the back of the hotel and away from the elevators, was very quiet, which was appreciated. They take your towels away at each cleaning (there is no option to keep them to help conserve water). It is a relatively affordable choice if you want to stay in Midtown. It is near Times Square and Grand Central but off the main drag. The staff is very pleasant and helpful.

ilovehuck, Thank you for staying with us once again during your time in New York City. It is wonderful to hear your compliments to our team, thank you for sharing. I'm also pleased to hear that the room and the bed were comfortable, but I apologize that the bathroom was not to the same level of comfort. As you are familiar, we have a variety of room layouts, some of which offer a more spacious bathroom, we can accommodate such requests based on your individual needs and note this to your personal profile. We hope to welcome you back again soon & thank you once again. Warm regards, Kelli Phillips

That shouldn't be a problem. We also ordered some packages for delivery at the hotel, and asked the shipper to note our arrival date at the hotel on the package (since we hadn't yet checked in, and didn't have the room number). The staff at the reception was very helpful in getting the packages to us.

Susan has this right. Breakfast is generally not included in the price of a hotel in mid-town Manhattan, so this is not only convenient, but a good deal. If you want a bigger breakfast, the Red Flame Diner is just a few steps down the street.
