The hotel is very beautiful and has kept all his historical charm. Rooms are big for NY and I love the romantic ambiance of them. 2 big dressings!! The service is nice but not that professional. I have been affected to a different room when I checked in, which is ok if I didn't find out a gift for the...

Dear Sonia M, Thank you for taking the time to share this valuable feedback with us. We hold ourselves to an incredibly high standard of service at The Carlyle. When we fall short of our guests expectations as well as those we have set for ourselves, we take it very seriously. It seems there were a number of occasions during...

The Carlyle was an excellent property to use while staying in Manhattan. The staff is excellent and the property is beautifully maintained. I will stay there anytime I go to New York. I recommend it highly.

I had been looking forward to my stay at the legendary Carlyle Hotel. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation and the service is lacking for a hotel of this supposed caliber. The rooms are filthy and the overall hotel is tired! The only positive thing I can say is that Bemelman's lives up to the hype and the...

My wife and I stayed in a suite at the Carlyle on New Years. From arrival to checkout, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby, with its Christmas decorations, was beautiful. Although the hotel has a formal feel to it - elevators manned by white-gloved attendants, waiting staff in white jackets - the service was very good and...

Spent 4 nights at the Carlyle over Christmas in a suite. Superlatives do not do this Hotel justice. The Hotel does have some unusual features so if you prefer slick and fast the Carlyle would probably try your patience but if you are looking for charm, discretion and being treated like an old friend rather than a room number - this...

We spent 5 nights over Christmas in Room 515 which is a classic suite designed by Ralph Lauren. It is super spacious with a lovely entrance foyer, 2 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchenette, open plan dining and lounge area and loads of closet space. The Kiehls amenities in the bathroom is a real treat. The king size bed was very...

The Carlyle is absolutely stunning - the service is immaculate - the location is perfect -just the rooms are spacious, old fashioned and some are more than a little rundown. Compared with other Top-Hotels in NYC the hotel is missing views over the city, but the incredible nice bar makes up for a lot.

We stayed here for our wedding night (and the night before)- used it as a place to get ready and stay the night. The wedding was very close by at the Central Park Boathouse (so no part of it was held at the Carlyle). We live in NYC but wanted to stay closer. This is a great hotel (and well...

Booked a suite for 4 nights over Christmas 2016. Great UES location if you prefer to avoid the crush of people and traffic in mid-town. Nice big rooms, but furnishings and bathrooms are tired. Only P.J.S. Would notice the few mis-steps. The room was lovely (the drapes could use a cleaning). The sheets were as soft as possible, the pillows perfect. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
