I hosted a large family group at the Carlyle in a 2 room suite to celebrate a birthday. It could not have been better. The service was wonderful. The concierge helped me order flowers, balloons and a variety of other items which were all in the room when we arrived. In addition the hotel sent a complementary cake and fruit,...

Outstanding legacy hotel but now requires update. I lived in New York for twenty years and the Carlyle was my favorite location for world class Cafe and lobby bar. During my January stay in the 33rd hotel tower room was small and dated --although with a great view North over Central Park. Hotel dining room service was excellent but expensive...

The hotel, the location and the service is outstanding. The understated elegance and the sincerity of the service is unlike anything I've ever experienced. The hotel's Bemelmans Bar is famous, but I recommend enjoying your drinks in the Gallery outside of the bar. Introverts, like myself, can enjoy the music without the crowds. The Carlyle makes you feel like you...

First off, I love the Carlyle. I have loved it since I first stayed there over twelve years ago. They have been a top notch hotel since the Hoover administration and the ghosts that walk the halls and hang on the walls as photos are some of the greats of the 20th century- as an example, when I checked in...

The hotel is very beautiful and has kept all his historical charm. Rooms are big for NY and I love the romantic ambiance of them. 2 big dressings!! The service is nice but not that professional. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
