As a regular NY visitor, I was disappointed with my stay at the Carlyle. Whilst service is impressive, my room on the 30th floor, was tired and small, needed a refresh and the bathroom was particularly poor. Seems strange in this day and age to pay as much as they charge and be standing in a bath for my shower!...

In a way is just another good five star luxury hotel with its own pros and cons. In reality, The Clarlyle is a living monument, a temple, a piece of history, a unique classy elegant remain of New York City "Golden Age". If you didn't experience the Clarlyle, well you can't say you're a complete NYC lover, you're not yet...

You should know before you are entering the Carlyle Hotel what you are expecting. This Hotel is more than an overnight stay. Every corner, every room, wherever you are, you feel tradition. Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Carlyle. Our room was very quiet & the service was top notch. The staff were friendly and helpful. For such a large hotel it feels very private. We didn't eat at the restaurant but we listened to jazz at the cafe & had a great time!

This review is for the spa. A lovely relaxing afternoon in the hands of an excellent masseuse, pampered by friendly staff, great variety of treatments. Well worth the price. Next time I will be sure to stay for dinner at the famous Carlyle dining room, the menu looks great.

On my birthday celebration in NY, at the top of my list of things to do was to go back to one of my favorite places when I lived in the city for over 20 years - Bemelman's Bar at The Carlyle. I have seen so many amazing talents over the last two or maybe three decades. This night was...

Another perfect stay at our favorite New York hotel. It was flawless. Many thanks to the excellent staff. Chuck, our captain in the Restaurant did a splendid job spoiling us. All the newer staff members are doing fine jobs.

I was booked for 4 nights but checked out after the very first night because of the terrible attitude of the old timers at The Carlyle. I am an Indian, and I got the distinct impression that they would rather not have me there. I have a long stay in NYC planned for August, so when I asked the old...

I have been staying at the Carlyle for over 15 years and normally have a good experience. However, this visit was quite disappointing. At 2 am, about the time bars close in the city, the service door which room service uses started slamming. This woke me up. After calling the front desk and asking that they kindly stop slamming the...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
