We stayed with a package deal that included dinner and a show at the Café Carlyle. The check-in itself was a wonderful experience. Then guided by a white gloved elevator attendant to one of the most beautiful rooms ever. We had a killer view of the New York skyline. We spent the afternoon exploring Madison Ave. and Central Park, right...

Opened the door to the lovely room and expected good things. Disappointed by everything from the dirty carpet, shabby furniture and unclean bathroom to the ridiculously expensive room service and the never-working room key. One bright spot was the ever present, always African-American, white gloved elevator operator who had a master key and could let me into my room, despite...

Please allow me to express my sincerest apologies for the inconveniences and disappointments you experienced during your stay, from the issues you had with the room key to the room condition. It is simply inexcusable, and I know my apologies cannot even begin to make amends for the frustrations you felt while visiting New York. We would very much like...

My husband and I stayed here sadly, for only one night. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. From the time you enter, there is a peaceful, elegant ambiance. The staff are all super professional yet friendly and helpful. I really wish we could have stayed longer.

My husband and I wanted to show our four children NYC!! We'd just had our first trip the previous year and knew this was a city we wanted our children to experience. Little did we know how we may have ruined it for them to ever go back. You see we booked two rooms. It was our first time not...

We stayed for but a brief moment. Overnight in Manhattan for a local celebration. But even that momentary glimpse underscored the tradition expected and elegance delivered. There is nothing technologically showy or flashy here. Millennials may not approve...but the fine appointments, the gracious service, the classic decor all combine to score a great overnight stay!

We have been looking for a really nice hotel to stay in for our 1-2 yearly family visits to NYC after Essex House got a new owner and the service level there went down as did the quality of the breakfast. The Carlyle is truly great. A dignified and quiet hotel. Only one block from Central Park, which we do...

I stayed here with my mom and teenage daughter for a long weekend trip. It was a great location a block from Central Park. Ask for room on floor 18 or higher to get a great view. The service was impeccable! From the door man, elevator man, front desk staff and the wait staff in the restaurant. The Breakfast buffet...

I have stayed at this landmark hotel countless times and am never disappointed. Didn't want to pass on the opportunity to congratulate the hotel and its staff for staying a cut above the rest. As ever a joy to stay at a home away from home.

Just back from 6 nights at the Carlyle. We booked a package with Expedia and price seemed too good to be true. We had some concerns that the room may not be that good. We needn't have worried. Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
