I only stayed here two nights but of the four hotels I tried while in New York this was my favorite. The fact that this was once the office building for Life magazine still is apparent in the hallways but the seasonal displays of Life covers was a nice touch. They are in the midst of renovations so be warned...

Reasonable location, safe area, near Korean restaurants, Macy's, Herald Square, subway, etc. I had a small single room, with the bathroom down the hall. The room was so small, you couldn't even open the door all the way to get in... and it was still over $100 per night. It was clean and quiet, no real waiting to use the...

I have traveled around the world and I must say this was not only a very reasonable rate but was also one of the nicest rooms I have seen in a long time! The beds were incredibly comfortable with the whitest, softest sheets and blankets including a comforter which all felt like the beds of some of the finest European...

Last month (8-15 October), my cousin and I stayed at the Herald Square Hotel, and we were extremely happy with our overall experience there. We shared a large double/double room (two double beds) facing W31st Street, which was more than adequate for our needs. Everything was immaculately clean, including the bathroom, which was admittedly small, but this was compensated by...

Having been inspired by all the positive reviews of this hotel I decided to book a single room for 5 nights. I contacted the hotel a couple of days before to see if I could get one of the newly renovated rooms but was informed that the single rooms had not yet been done up but was assured that I...

My wife and I stayed at the hotel over Labor Day Weekend. It rained all day Saturday, but the hotel was dry and cheerful. It raised our spirits just to be there. What a treat! I am an Historian and a teacher and I was doubly thrilled to spend time in this historic building with all of the magnificent art...

There is no doubt the room we had was on the small size... but we had a large suitcase and large rucksack full and managed OK. This is a great hotel in a fantastic location just a couple of blocks away from the Empire State Building. There is really good free coffee downstairs in the lounge and it looked like...

We stayed at the Herald Square hotel from October 16-20. We lucked out and got an amazing room on the 9th floor or so we thought. The first morning that we were there my girlfriend woke up with bites on her hand and arm. We thought maybe there might be bugs but we couldn't see any in the bed and...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
