I will start with the Hotel it's self. Whilst a little dated in décor, we found the Hotel clean and comfortable. We felt welcomed on arrival and despite a mix up with the room number checked in quickly after a long journey. The room it...More
have stayed here twice now for three nights each time-the location is good-walking distance to grand central and the empire state building-we actually walked to central park one day and back from times square after the show-but that might be a little farther than most...More

What a great little hotel...Su Mui was most helpful in the reservation process, while Andy was professional, empathetic, and fun! The view we had of the Empire State Building literally brought tears to the eyes of my German friends, seeing New York for the first...More
I love the Shelburne. This is my 3rd or 4th stay. I've traveled alone here, and also with family. I find the hotel comfortable and low key, and in a great neighborhood. The staff is friendly, and RARE is a great restaurant to have on...More

Stayed here with 5 friends. Between us we had a one bedroom suite and a double double room. For NYC the rooms are very spacious and clean. Looked exactly as they do in the pictures. Check in was a bit slow but we did arrive...More

This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the
affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Yes, I hope this answer is timely and not to late. Yes, the suite we stayed in had a stove and a refrigerator. This was in approximately 2008. Suite furnishings were dated and it could have used some updating. But the bedroom ( 1) and bathroom in. the suite was up to date. I don't know if it has been updated, but I read or heard somewhere it had been updated. We really did NOT care about the dated rooms in the suite, as most of our two day overnight was spent outside of the hotel exploring all over Manhattan. Our suite faced Lexington Avenue , and the narrow, about 4' to 5' wide length of the suite was such a beautiful bonus ; at night beautiful views of Chrysler building and Empire state building were so clear and beautiful ( very clear nights ) were lovely. Rare rooftop bar views outstanding. We very much enjoyed it and were quite pleased.

Can't understand for the life of me why the Shelburne could be described as average considering the location plus service for the reasonable cost. Our room was adequate. Comfortable, large king sized bed, views of Empire State and able to be close to everything in midtown and the main hub of Grand Central. Everyone to their own but I feel the Affinia is very good all considered.
