Just returned from a quick trip to NYC with my 17 year old daughter. We loved The Surrey. The location is perfect. Loved staying on the Upper East Side. We had a small suite with a bedroom and separate living room and large bathroom. The decor felt like an Upper East Side apartment which was great. Nice bathroom. Really enjoyed...

The Surrey is a wonderful, small by NYC standards. located off Madison Avenue in the upper east side of Manhattan. The neighborhood consists mainly of very high end residential and high end shopping. Those new to Manhattan and not doing business or other activity in the neighborhood might want to stay a bit further downtown but, for those who know...

The Surrey offered a 5 star experience at half the cost of my usual haunt, The Pierre, so took the opportunity for a week's holiday in New York. The room and bed were great; no noise but I was on the 9th floor. The concierge, Michael, landed some last minute theatre tickets for me and also secured reservations at some...

I've been going to New York for years, and my recent experience at The Surrey was the best I've had in years. It started even before I arrived when I called the concierge to get us dinner reservations as all the restaurants I tried were fully booked. Michael managed to get us a table at a spectacular restaurant at exactly...

Surrey is a smooth running very comfortable hotel - only glitches are the street and bar noise if you are on a low floor on 76th Street especially on the weekend. And the bar Pliades is sometimes over-crowded - over noisey - again especially on weekends...all else is very very good

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
