We visit the Big Apple a few times a year for long weekends to enjoy all the city has to offer. We always wanted stay at the Algonquin to experience that old world charm, its historic significance and beautiful architecture. Last weekend we did just that, and the experience surpassed our expectations. The staff is warm and welcoming, and we...

Read the reviews and you will get the picture. A Classic hotel in a classic location..you want the Hilton...it's not far away. The only point I'd make has been said many times...they really could do more with coffee both in the rooms and in the lounge. I don't think it would be much of an effort and I think it...

We stayed at the legendary Algonquin Hotel over Christmas 2016. I read tons of reviews beforehand, some of which were unkind to say the least, but I took it with a grain of salt, as it seemed that many were written by people who are much better traveled than either my husband or I, and seemed to have standards so...

We chose The Algonquin in New York for its literary and historical significance. We read in advance that there would be downsides....no coffee set-up in guest rooms and generally small spaces are the two biggest negatives. We do enjoy a slow wake up with a cup of coffee when on holiday. However, if you can be a bit flexible, the...

Its the old Algonquin, with a fairly good face lift. The location is, of course, outstanding. Walking distance to Broadway. But there is something off with the services. There is no coffee in the rooms and the coffee downstairs is through the bar. No room services, and no continental breakfast on weekends. But the Algonquin cat (Matilda) is still here,

If you enjoy the ambience of an old hotel this is a fine place to stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are decent size. Bathrooms are nicely appointed. Only down side is the hotel is a bit noisy with both outside noise, room to room noise and hallway noise. A sound machine works great to mask it though and we slept...

A great place to have cocktails when in NYC. It was crowded tonight and patience is a must when waiting for service, but well worth the wait. Lots of literary history here (I.e. The round table). One of the best tasting old Fashions I have ever had!

We stayed in one of the updated rooms according to the person who checked us in. I would recommend asking for a room towards the front. The staff was helpful and directed us to a good French cafe nearby.

When I decided to go to NYC for 3-day fun weekend, I initially booked 3 hotels that were pretty modern--all in the theatre. But then I cancelled all of them and chose the Algonquin instead, for one reason. I love cats, and the Algonquin is the only hotel in the City with a resident cat. I also knew that one...

Great hidden gem on West 44th away from the Times Square crowds. Wonderful lobby and bar. Unique rooms that vary in size and shape. Try to avoid the street side rooms. Great photo images in the rooms and nice elevator hallway old The New Yorker cartoons. Great front desk. Take a look for Matilda the cat. Great location.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
