The staff were really friendly and helpful. We were blown away by how everything there is so beautiful. The gorgeous flower arrangements and sumptuousness of all the furniture and interiors. Location is great. We went to a good little japanese restaurant Yama diagonally opposite a couple of times. Loved the bathrobes. My wife had the best bathrobe ever and the...

We Brits from the UK went there in September 2015. We just happened to pick the week when all the world leaders and the Pope were in town but unfortunately we didn't have time to meet them. Instead we stayed at this wonderful Inn for 5 days, enjoying all the delights of the city from the Freedom Tower in the...

My wife and I frequently visit NYC to see our children, two who live near Union Sq. We are delighted to have found this 10 room boutique hotel. Our room was large with high ceilings ("queen suite") and big windows with some charm. We far prefer this small peaceful but convenient hotel to several of the large chain hotels off...

A step back in time to an elegant brown stone with beautiful antiques and wonderful ambiance. You get champagne and strawberries when you get to your room...there is 1940's big band music playing on the tv and all becomes right with then world. There is a wonderful martini bar on premise and the famous Lady Mendl's Tea Salon is on...

For traditionalists only. This antique-filled brownstone looks pretty much as it did when Elsie de Wolfe, a famous turn of the 20th c. decorator, lived across the street. For all the dark mahogany and rich brocades, the rooms are extremely comfortable, the bath rooms well appointed and up-top-date and the service is absolutely perfect. The excellent continental breakfast, served in...

The Inn at Irving Place is not marked as such, so it is a secret find. The building, decor, rooms and staff are all wonderful. Our room (The O'Henry) was large, clean, well furnished, comfortable and quiet. The Inn is a few blocks from the Union Sq subway (walkable) which can get you everywhere. If there was improvement to be...

We stayed in the Irving Suite for three nights and loved it. The breakfast is pretty continental but good. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Kind of a quirky feeling, in a good way! Nice change to all the super high buildings.

The location of the hotel is excellent, a very quiet stretch, with plenty of restaurants close by and only steps away from busy Union Square. The hotel has no more than a dosen rooms in two adjoining brownstones and thus has a very cosy feeling. The decor is somewhat too feminine, overly decorated and crowded, fine old furniture mixed freely...

Great location, just off Union Square. Beautiful old brownstone stuffed full of antiques, Victorian in every way, with lovely old features maintained. Comfortable enough, and good service, but not really my style. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built in 1834, three single family brownstones sat at the corner of 17th and Irving Place. Over the years, the corner brownstone was torn down and a small apartment building was built in its place. The two remaining brownstones have stood the test of time, and they now create The Inn. While once combined as a single family home, the brownstones also housed everything from apartments, The Ingersol Mens Club, a Speak Easy, and a Beauty Parlor and Day Spa. After completion of a three year renovation, The Inn at Irving Place opened its door in December of 1994. ... more   less
