The hotel was built in the early 1900s so you can't really expect it to be fully modernized and all. The lobby is well maintained and very grand. Theres about 7 elevators but at any given time, 2-4 of them are working and they are...More
Let's start with the one good thing. On arrival we were allowed to check in early.
Unfortunately when we got to the room there was nothing more good to write. I regularly stay in 2 star hotels for work and this was worse - similar...More
Good location. Functional service, no frills, no real care. Rooms small. No water in room even. No room service after breakfast so if you arrive late as I did, well tough. Nice late night pizza place behind the hotel. Cleanliness. Ok. If you have OCD...More
Very disappointed with the room, the wardrobe was more like a cupboard as seen in the pic, 6 coat hangers for 2 people in a double room, staying 7 nights, staff not very helpful. Well advertised rooftop facilities shown in marketing materials was closed at...More
We were in New York at a very busy time so this was one of the only hotels that still had availability. It was ok. Location was great and I liked the old New York vibe it had going on but it was pretty basic....More

This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the
affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

It is great value for a stay in NYC. Very central, you can walk to everything including GCS and all the nice shopping and food, buses or taxis and off course Mad 46 but will be closed in Dec. So yeah, the rooms feel like they need a proper clean up and windows opened for some fresh air and bathrooms work but very old, even then for that location, I would still return for the price. So go ahead and come enjoy your vacation at the Grand Dame of New York.
