Start and end your day in the heart of Mammoth. The Village's condos are atop all the fun. Stay here to be at the center of town, where there's easy free shuttle access to mountain activities and loads of dining and shopping options. The property features pool, hot tubs, and fitness center. Each unit has a kitchen with a refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. Units feature dining area, private bathrooms and a seating area with a fireplace. Our mountain resort is located above 8,000 feet and we historically experience mild summer temperatures. Because of our historically cool summers, our hotel and rooms are not equipped with air conditioning.

The Village Lodge garners praise for its comprehensive amenities and prime location, which guests love for its easy access to dining and activities, eliminating the need for a car. Many find the atmosphere cozy, akin to a home away from home, complete with fireplaces and fully equipped kitchens. While the service is often lauded as friendly and helpful, opinions on Value and room conditions are mixed; some travelers cite the accommodations as overpriced and in need of updates, despite the cleanliness and spaciousness.

Our travel agent had booked two rooms but failed to request they be together. We have to thank the lovely Michelle for all her efforts in being able to juggle things around and put us next to each other - otherwise we'd have been in separate blocks! Thank you Michelle - what you did meant so much, and we could eat and relax together as planned.
Wonderful facilities at the hotel: the rooms were palatial, with a stove bigger than mine at home! Well-stocked kitchen. We could therefore eat in, which was what we wanted after so long on the road trip.
Only negative point was that many of the cafes and bars around the hotel complex were closed / only partially open / not serving food, which was surprising considering we went at the height of the peak summer period (for example, after relaxing one morning for a few hours by the pool, we found the creperie was closed that day and the only food nearby was a pizza take-out). Not sure why the hotel didn't serve up food / snacks itself.

I understand some of the complaints (overpriced, inconsistent rooms) but our experience was very different. We love our room and as it is in between seasons the place is very empty and quiet. Kitchen has everything we need, shower water is really hot (not typical in the mountains) and the parking in the garage is not an ordeal. People at the front desk are super nice to us and try to get things we need. Covid restrictions are just fine and since we have a dishwasher and can make our own bed why do we need housekeeping? I figure the resort fee is for jacuzzi and pool which is just fine.

Good Afternoon Katefu, Thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a helpful and positive review of your recent stay at our property. In particular, I'm delighted to see that you enjoyed the quality of your room, and found the unit to include everything you need, right where you needed it. In addition, I'm very happy to see that you received nothing but five-star service from our Front Desk team, and truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we continue to work with our local, county and state health officials to #staysafetostayopen as we navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. You are correct that the pool and hot tub are integral parts of our resort fee, but this fee also covers the cost of maintaining and operating our underground garage, offering wireless internet throughout the hotel, and various other on-site amenities as well. We're very happy to see that you enjoyed your stay with us, and look forward to welcoming you back to our property on your next Mammoth Mountain adventure! Warmest Regards, -Evan Marx- Front Office Manager The Village Lodge at Mammoth

My fiancé and I decided spontaneously to treat ourselves to a night at this hotel after camping. It was a bit of a mess to book online. So we went right into the lobby where Kaylah sorted us out, booked us a room and even an up grade.
The room itself was well built, solid wood doors and furniture, stone (gas burning) fireplace. The Kitchen was amazingly well stocked for flatwear, cutlery, pots, pans, etc. The bathtub was nice and deep. We both slept really well and in the morning, enjoyed the sun on the balcony until it got too hot and we went into the shade. All in all a great experience. It is expensive for two, but sharing the room with four people would make this a bargain. Still would return here again for a treat.

I’ve never stayed at the Village Lodge before. After this experience, I wouldn’t choose anywhere else. We were greeted upon arrival by warm friendly staff as we checked in. The lobby is lovely and expansive. Covid restrictions were in place. Our unit 3315 had a large LR space with comfy furniture. Wall to wall ceiling high windows gave us a sensational view of the mountains and the Village below. The beds with down comforter and multiple down pillows could lull you to sleep. Although these units are individual owned, the Lodge made sure they were well appointed with numerous towels, fully equipped kitchen and 2 long terry bathrobes and pool towels for pool and hot tub. 3 hot tubs of your choice. All were hot and CLEAN. Perfect way to end a day of skiing. The gondola was only steps away and there are many restaurants in the Village. Ski/boarding equipment lockers are in each of 3 buildings and they are free. Also underground parking! And elevators. Can’t wait to go back and be pampered. Jan

We booked a 1br and den for our family of 6 for four nights. The suite was comfortable, location very convenient. Our first day we needed some things and the staff showed up within a few minutes of calling. Unfortunately the phones didn’t work from day 2 so any requests I had to make with my mobile phone. For some reason maintenance wasn’t able to fix the phones.

The reason I only gave 3 stars is the housekeeping wasn’t very good. They didn’t clean our toilets any of the days and one day also did not clean the basins. Not sure why. Also I noted the bathrooms could’ve been cleaner when we first arrived, specifically the walls and sides of tubs. I didn’t leave housekeeping a very big tip.

Mammoth Mountain assisted us in providing 7 rooms at the Village for my daughter's wedding, ranging from studios to three bedroom units. Everyone was thrilled to be there, the employees were fantastic greeting the wedding party and all of their guests. The whole party enjoyed the central location of being in the village and the restaurants, bars, ice cream shop and retail. Many sun bathed out by the pool to get their "tan" on! The best part was that the staff accommodated everyone like they were honored to have them be a guest.

It sounds great - located at the base of the gondola, nicely furnished condos with views....but each condo is furnished by its owner or by the hotel and as a result the rooms are very inconsistent. Some are nicely furnished some are very bare-bones similarly the location of each condo in the building has a big effect on how close you actually are to the gondola and other amenities at the village - you may end up walking a quarter of a mile through hallways and up and down elevators just to get in and out of your building. Their marketing states that every condo has either of mountain or Village View but that's just not the case.

Good Evening 08116ZJtimk, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your honest feedback about your recent stay at The Village Lodge at Mammoth. You are correct that each of our condos are owned by homeowners and they do play a part in the furnishings and decor of the units. We also realize that some units do require some refresh, and we are in the process of working with all of our owners to ensure that the highest quality furnishings and appliances are available consistently throughout our units. This process takes time, but we certainly hope to provide you with a more consistent product on your next visit and sincerely apologize that we missed the mark during your stay. Since the three lodges that make up our facility are spread out amongst The Village at Mammoth, you are correct that certain rooms are closer to the Village Gondola than others. However, all of our units surround the restaurants, shops and other businesses that make up The Village, so you're never too far away from the action. We regret the time it took to get in and out of your unit; please let us know if you would prefer a room closer to the elevators or in a certain location of The Village for your next visit and we will do everything in our power to accommodate this request. Lastly, I am very sorry that you found our marketing to emphasize mountain or Village views. Given our unique location at the bottom of Mammoth Mountain, while some units do have mountain views, unfortunately not every one has this. Likewise, given that each building faces both sides, there will be some units that face The Village and others that face outwards. I will be sure to check on all of marketing channels, both through Mammoth Mountain and through our third party partners, to ensure that we remain transparent and genuine about the views that are available from our units. Please know that your feedback goes a long way in ensuring that we provide the best quality experience for our guests, and I will be sharing this with my management team to make sure we improve on these areas moving forward. If you have any additional feedback to provide, feel free to reach out to me directly at emarx@mammothresorts.com and I would be delighted to assist with this or any future reservations that you wish to make with us here at The Village Lodge at Mammoth. Warmest Regards, -Evan Marx- Front Office Manager The Village Lodge at Mammoth

We recently stayed at the Village Lodge for a family ski trip. Most of the staff were pleasant and convenience to the gondola was great. We had three rooms for each family. Unfortunately we were all put in different buildings. Apparently we were upgraded at check in, which I was unaware of until we got to our room. Usually this would be a good thing, in this case, it wasn’t. Room 2425 was spacious and has potential to be nice but it’s very dated, kind of thrashed and has way too many of the owners personal items (chachkies) and fake plants around. The room needs serious updating, a carpet cleaning and purging of clutter. The couch is also extremely uncomfortable to sit on! Another family member got a 1 bedroom suite that we had initially reserved. Room 1217 is beautiful! Hard wood flooring, updated bathroom and nice, modern, comfortable furniture. The third family we traveled with did not like their initial room and moved to a basic two bedroom suite that was decent, had a comfortable couch and was uncluttered. Navigating this hotel is a little tricky at first. There are no visible names on the outsides of the buildings. We had trouble finding our ski locker as well and spent a lot of wasted time wandering around looking for it. We asked several guests and a couple employees where it was with no luck. A sign with directions at the elevator would have been helpful. Actually, if the lodge would get a ski concierge at the gondola like the Westin has, that would be amazing. Overall, the trip was a success because we were spending time with family. If I ever decided to book this hotel again I will definitely want to know what room I’m getting beforehand. One last note: we ate at I believe it was the smokehouse in the lobby building on our last night. The staff was nice but the food wasn’t.

Thank you for providing the Village Lodge with your feedback. These are all privately owned condos that we manage. We are currently working with all owners that may need to renovate portions of their units. I will be happy to provide the owner with your feedback. We attempt to honor all guests requests, unfortunately with the busy season and numerous owners in house, these requests to be next to each other are not an option. We will always attempt to accommodate our guest requests to the best of our ability.

This was our first trip to Mammoth and it couldn't have gone better. The location of the Village Lodge was extremely convenient, made only better by the front desk supervisor - Nicole, who set everything up for us. From our rentals and mountain passes, to dinner reservations, to contacting us with a last-minute cancellation for a 2-bedroom to accommodate an extra guest. Will definitely return!

All of the guest rooms at The Village Lodge have a balcony. Some are at the ground level, but most are higher as our three separate buildings at The Village Lodge have 4 or 5 stories. When you make your reservation you may want to request how high a room you would like. We do our best to accommodate guest requests whenever possible.

Answer from Evan Marx
Mammoth Lakes, California
Good Afternoon Caliabra, At the present moment our hot tubs will need to remain closed until further notice due to Mono County health regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, our outdoor pool is open from 10 AM - 10 PM and is heated to 90 degrees farenheit, perfect after a fun day shredding on the mountain! I do hope this helps to answer your question, but please don't hesitate to reach out to us here at The Village Lodge if you have any additional questions. What is the noise like between rooms? Noise from neighboring rooms? Noise from people above????
Answer from Raych H

Never really had a problem with noise when staying at the village during the winter season. Sometimes hear people passing your door in the the corridors, but generally I've found people to be respectful and quiet. 2 years ago we stayed in the room above the main entrance, on occasion heard the doors opening but that's about it to be honest.

Entering the garage is a bit tight. The best thing to do would be to contact The Village Lodge for height restrictions, sorry I can’t be of more help. We use a Truck when visiting, everything we have goes in there, snowboards etc.
