We make sure to include a stay at Red's at the end of our annual backpacking trip. I've stayed at both the minimalist "backpackers cabin" and the largest cabin. Whether you are coming in from packing in the wilderness to enjoy a hot shower (great water pressure) at the bath house, a hefty burger or breakfast in the diner, or...

Popular with travelers for it's location near Devil's Postpile National Monument. Popular with hikers doing the John Muir and Pacific Crest trails, because they offer many services. Popular with fishermen and campers in the area, because it is the only store and restaurant on the 8 mile stretch of narrow road between Agnew and Red meadows. Popular with outdoor enthusiasts,...

Red's Meadow is a wonderful operation located in a beautiful section of the Sierra Nevadas. It is low key and a sort of melting pot in the middle of nowhere. There's a small general store and cafe. The food is pretty good at the cozy cafe. We stayed in one of the motel rooms, and thought it was great. The...

We had a very nice, leisurely ride down to Rainbow Falls with Brooke as our able guide this morning. The falls are beautiful and the 1 hour trip there and back is good for beginning riders - our kids 7, 11, and 13 loved it. Beware - due to the drought conditions the trails are VERY dusty - bring lots...

We rented a 2 story cabin the sleeps 6 for $200.00 per night, the cabin had a small living room, complete kitchen and refrigrator, along with an outside fire pit. The only drawback was it is very close to the restaurant and store, so there is a lot of traffic in the area, and since the cabins are close together,...

Excellent trip for 4th of July 2015. We stayed in the cabins (cabin D) and it was very roomy. There is a bedroom, a futon down stairs and then 4 twin beds upstairs, plenty of sleeping areas. The cabins themselves are back towards the end of the resort and closest to the wooded area, very nicely kept. No TV but...

I recently sent a food resupply package to Red's Meadow and their service worked perfectly. I was also able to confirm by telephone in advance that they had my package. Pickup was relatively straightforward. I was able to purchase a couple ice cold drinks at the same time I got my resupply. Their store serves juice, pop, beer, fruit, snacks,...

Red's Meadow is a unique property located just a few miles from the John Muir Trail. As a result, it is a haven for hikers who want a good meal or a clean shower. The cabins are pretty basic, but that is about all one can expect from a place that tries to walk the line between comfort and the...

We've visited Devil's Postpile area and the surrounding mountains many times and always wanted to stay here but never managed to sync up vacancies with our vacation time. This year we got really lucky and were able to reserve a cabin for two nights - it was fantastic!! We stayed in Cabin F, aka "Bob's Cabin," and it was wonderful....

We had a great few days in Cabin A (which feels slightly more secluded than some, because the porch looks out over trees). Had been looking for a good base camp in the Sierras for a motley crew (ranging from one member who has hiked nearly the entire Pacific Crest trail and a couple others who had never been camping)....
