Please note this is an older property in Mammoth on a main road going through town towards the ski resort. My husband and I were only going to stay 1 night, but ended up staying 2.
Pros:
Quiet room with a king bed, love seat, balcony, small kitchenette (microwave and refrigerator), and a table for 2. The bed was comfortable enough, but I didn't care for the pillows (that was okay because I bring my own). I really enjoyed the water pressure of this lodge. Carpet was clean and I wasn't afraid to walk in my bare feet. The room and bathroom were extremely clean. At one point, my husband saw 3 housekeepers cleaning 1 vacant room and wiping everything down with disinfectant spray (wonderful!).
Cons:
Breakfast was not being served and the jacuzzi area was closed. However, this is understandable at this time. In addition, there is no elevator to the first and second floor which wasn't a huge deal for us, but for someone with a physical disability it definitely might be. The garage is at ground level.

Overall it was a good experience. I really appreciated seeing the care the housekeepers were taking in disinfecting the rooms even though I brought my own supplies. I would recommend this property asking for a room in back of the hotel or towards the near back.

Our family trip accommodations are usually at places like Marriott, Hilton, etc. Due to the last minute nature of our trip, and the ridiculous “cleaning” fees at the other local options, we rolled the dice and stayed at the Sierra Lodge. This place could certainly use some updates. The furniture and fixtures are definitely dated. Overall, this place can’t hold a candle to the chains we usually stay. With that said, the customer service and cleanliness of the lodge is exemplary. The story would likely be different if I was staying here by myself, or with a bunch of buddies. Then I might have been able to give 5 stars. I guess what I’m really trying to say is DO NOT bring your spouse to this place unless they have low expectations to begin with, or have never had a taste of a reputable resort/hotel. The place is also a little loud, bearable for most, unless you’re a light sleeper. It’s obvious that the owner(s) of the Sierra Lodge care about their customers, and go the extra mile in the customer service and cleaning departments.

Sierra Lodge is nice. Good location, staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean. It is outdated and the carpeting could use a good cleaning. The a/c for the room is disconnected and they have a portable unit and a standing fan to take it's place. The handicapped parking space is in an awkward spot and would not be easy to get in and out of. We did get a good deal through Booking.com and the noise level wasn't too bad. Would we stay again? I won't say no but I think we'll check out other places first before returning.

The Sierra Lodge was all set to receive a nice solid 3 star review. Then on check out day, as I'm leaving my room, I noticed housekeeping in the room across the hall. There were four housekeepers talked in the room, one apparently a supervisor with the clipboard, and everyone's mask was pulled down around their neck. Earlier when one of the housekeepers saw me oh, she pulled the mask over her mouth. But this time I guess I caught them off guard.

I've been here for three days and overall what I saw was pretty good covid-19 compliance. The front desk staff were wearing masks, and there was a hand sanitizer dispenser in the parking garage.

housekeeping staff are one of the most significant ways you could catch covid-19 in a hotel. You let your guard down in the room, and you don't tend to sanitize every surface.

This place has few goods.. rooms are spacious and good parking in garage. But the downside are many. The rooms are extremely run down. The ac was super loud. Understood that due to COVID-19 things are different and we were prepared for that. But the manager at the reception was not cooperative. There was water coming out of the sink on its own. He said they can’t do anything since the place is full. I causally asked if they are going to clean the room and his response was that no it’s only after u leave. Well my suggestion is keep your guests informed and make arrangements to drop trash and replace towels at the required distance. We don’t know what the county rules are. They could help better for sure with a better attitude. The second day same thing happened with the sink. Called reception and he said why did you clog the sink? It’s not right to put the blame on us when we didn’t do anything. The house keepers tried to repair it but couldn’t. He also said they don’t want to call the plumber and since its Sunday plumber would take a lot of money.. strange. Monday they shifted us to another room. But all this was just a very inconvenient experience. Hope they can be more courteous all their guests.
Also keep in mind they are charging extra for more than two guests. We paid about $500 for a room for 3 nights here.. not worth that amount at all.

The Sierra Lodge provided everything our family of 4 plus dog needed. This hotel has a lot of charm & a casual ski lodge feel. Rusty the manager did an amazing job accommodating every request. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a convenient location with comfy beds and nice staff. The room was clean and it was easy to overlook that it was a bit outdated. We loved our room with a balcony and heater we used to easily dry our ski clothing after the slopes. We walked the dog around the safe neighborhood and went across the street for good eats. We are sooo looking to coming back again. Thanks Sierra Lodge for a wonderful 3-nights stay between Christmas and new years. Ps. Upon check out I noticed the staff meticulously steam cleaning the carpet in one of the rooms and really deep cleaning others. Given that the lodge was sold out it was exceptionally clean, warm and welcoming.

Overall the place was disappointing. When you pay $300 a night, you just expect more. The breakfast was terrible - cereal and bagels w/ cream cheese. The Wifi was simply unusable.Sofa was full of stained, outlets were scarce and paint was peeling. Heating was very hard to get right, so the room was always too hot or too cold.

On a more positive note, the room was large with plenty of places to put the gear and luggage and the location was decent.

Yes it’s old & dated but it’s clean, rooms are big, with mini kitchenette, or try their continental breakfast. Has plenty free underground parking. All Staff were great & friendly on my 4 night stay at end of February. It’s an easy 10/15 minute walk to village or jump on the free bus right outside lodge to gondola or ski area. It’s my place to stay all ski season now. Easy located to old town as well.
Thanks guys for making it welcoming!
See you soon ⛷

We loved this hotel. It was clean with big rooms and it had a wonderful common room with stocked tea and warm drinks for the kids throughoUt the day. The breakfast was a bonus as was the in room refrigerator, plates, utensils and microwave. The rooms are a bit old but not unlike most mountain rooms in other places in town. But what makes this place a gem is the staff. The morning man at the counter was charming and helpful. At night, the manager Braden was amazing. We had four kids.... and not only tolerated them but gave paper to draw on and engaged them. The kids are already asking to come back. We never had a want for anything while we were there. His constant smiles and professionalism will make us book with them again and again. Thank for a wonderful three day weekend Braden and the recommendations. This place has a great vibe. Thank you Braden for all you did for our two families - you helped make it special for everyone!

I just tried to book a reservation for next week via the property website which was 'up and running' with no notice other than once attempted with date entry etc, a notice displayed 'unavailable to accept reservations at this time' - not sold out or anything of that nature.

So, as stated on the website that when unable to book online, to call the hotel directly, I did just that.
After 6 rings (or more) a recorded message came on informing that the hotel had been sold to the Mammoth Mountain Corp and that all confirmed Sierra Lodge Reservations would be honored at the Mammoth Mountain Inn at the rate that was confirmed at time of booking, and to contact the Mammoth Mountain Inn.

Such a shame, I have enjoyed this unique, locally owned property since the '90s. I wonder how many other properties in that area may become subject to an acquisition, driving up prices, etc.
