Loved the location to the village. Walked from the hotel all the way to the bowling alley with ease. So much to do in the area and the rooms are great sizes and very clean. Didn't get a chance to use the hot tub... next time!

Very charming hotel, you really get the alp-feeling. Great location with the village just a 5-minute walk away. Friendly staff, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. The hotel also has a cool bar downstairs. Overall, really good value for money, highly recommended.

A great place to break the drive from Vegas through to Yosemite. We stayed one night and wish we had stayed longer! A beautiful alpine town, can only imagine how wonderful winter would be! Friendly staff, great breakfast and cozy rooms. Perfection.

We stayed in room 402, King bed (very firm and comfortable) and in the 1 story addition to the motel. Very clean, nicely updated interior and tall toilets which are helpful with bad knees. My only suggestions would be for a coffee pot and/or microwave in each room since breakfast

Does anyone know what time breakfast is served each day?
I was there August 2017. If I recall correctly, breakfast starts at 7 and runs to 9 a.m. They have hot coffee and water for tea in the lobby for early risers to take to their rooms. Note breakfast is continental, German style: various breads, butter and jams, sliced cheeses and ham, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit, cold cereal and hot oatmeal. Enjoy!

Hi, Myself and three others are staying at the alpenhof in June next year. Are there trails to walk or do you need a guide to see the national park. We are in our 30s and physically able. I just wondered if it was easy to get lost whilst out there? Thank you in advance Matt
Mammoth Lakes is a hub for outdoor activities: hiking and biking especially. There are a number of trails you can day hike and dedicated trails for biking (you cannot bike on hiking trails). The town provides free trolley transportation to many of the trailheads as well as bus service to some of the main trailheads for a small price (get a multi day pass and save $), The Alpenhof is across the Village where you catch most of the buses and trolleys so you are well situated. The hotel will have the town map with the trolley routes. The trolleys also have maps. On day one, take the trolley to the Visitor Centre on Main Street to plan your day hikes with a Ranger and get a map so you do not get lost! Day hikes include Devil's Postpile, Rainbow Falls, Minaret Falls or you can take the trolley to Lake Mary and hike up to Duck Pass and back. There are many trails you can do in this area. Mammoth Lakes is a great place to vacation if you like the outdoors.

How far is this located from the main Yosemite sites? TIA
we are located on the East side of the Sierra's about 45 minutes drive from the Yosemite gate via Tioga Pass. Yosemite Valley is about a 2 hour drive from us.

I will be visiting during September. Is there hiking, Kayaking, biking, near by?
The June Lake Loop is close with a neat little hike out to Parker Lake. Also, check out Devil's Postpile Monument and the hike to Rainbow Falls. Maybe in September, you'll be seeing the beginning of fall colors. We were there in October last year and the colors were beautiful, especially along the June Lake Loop.
