Holiday Haus is located where the action is in Mammoth Lakes. We are a short 5 minute walk to the Village at Mammoth where you will find restaurants, shopping, mountain biking and of course mountain access via the Village Gondola for skiing and snowboarding. During the summer months, we are in close proximity to the many music venues, including Bluesapalooza and other Village events. If you want easy cross-country skiing, mountain biking with minimal hills or walking trails, a trail for all is accessible via our property. As a recently updated property with a variety of room types and price points, we welcome you to come and stay with us for some fun in the mountains. We will also provide advice on things to do and will book your activities with no commissions or fees (back to us). For instance...have you been on a horse with your family and friends? Don't miss out on an opportunity to ride horseback on an easy, fun and beautiful trail ride from Red's Meadow to Rainbow Falls. We hope to you see you soon!

I would stay here again as long as I wasn’t with anyone who was picky about modern or fancy accommodations. This place is basic but does the job just fine. Biggest plus is how close to the mountain it is.

Pros:
Affordable
Free breakfast (very basic continental style)
Good location (walkable to the Village/gondola)
Easy parking
Nice view
Warm room and good hot water

Cons:
No one at the front desk after 8pm
Slightly lumpy beds and pillows
Dated rooms. Not in great condition.

I recently went on a solo trip to Mammoth and found the Holiday Haus Motel on Hotels.com. For the time of year the price was decent ($164 night) especially compared to the mammoth owned properties. It was also comparable to VRBO and AirBnB.

The room was dated but comfortable. I got the King size bed which was equipped with a fire place (which is actually the heater...you turn off the heat and the fire also turns off which makes sense), mini fridge, sink to wash dishes and a microwave. There was also a small table to eat with a companion, a desk and futon. My room was set up for a handicapped visitor so the bathroom was extra large with a big shower. Again, the items in the room were dated but clean.

I used the hot tub which is only open between 3-9pm. The tub is fairly small, only 4 -5 people fit comfortably and it was really hot probably around 105 degrees which only allowed you to sit in it for about five minutes before you overheated. Also it is an above ground unit which doesn’t bother me but the deck built around it was falling apart. The boards were a bit loose and are uneven. I personally wouldn’t walk around on it without something on your feet.

I checked out the continental breakfast but didn’t eat anything. There were bagels, cereal, yogurt and fruit. As for other food, the hotel is in walking distance to the village as well as some restaurants on Main st.

The one thing that caught my ear while I was trying to get ice from the front desk was another guest changing rooms because he found a mouse running around the room. Although I would want to move as well, it doesn’t surprise me that animal life is in a warm room in the middle of a forest in winter.

Overall it was a good stay, got what I paid for, and the bed allowed for a comfortable night of sleep.

Big rooms full of local memoribilia and history. Walking distance to several restaurants and surprisingly quiet at night. Interesting experience as we never actually met anyone associated with the hotel (remote check in / check out) but nothing really wrong with that, it all worked well.

We had the worst experience at Holiday Haus and will never book there again. We had booked a room for four nights and upon arrival for check in were told the hotel cancelled our reservation because of a plumbing problem. The front desk attendant on site that day (January 11) was undoubtably one of the rudest and most unprofessional people I have ever come across in customer service. It took her close to five minutes after giving her my full name and confirmation number multiple times to finally tell me they cancelled our reservation. We asked for another room and she said the hotel was full (even though there were rooms available on multiple hotel sites we referenced at the time). I made our reservation over two months prior and was flabbergasted the hotel did not make any effort to give us another room or at the very least call to notify us. I asked the front desk woman if she had my phone number, she said yes, and I asked why the hotel hadn’t called to notify us of the cancellation - there was no response or apology from her. We had to book another room at Juniper Springs that was double our cost at Holiday Haus because of this last-minute fiasco. This was a horrible experience but turned out for the best because four nights at that dump of a hotel would have been hell. Juniper Springs was excellent and will be our pick from now on.

Experience just weird. This is def one of those places that is not giving u the best experience during these times. WiFi refused to work while typing in the “correct” password multiple times. “Fireplace” in the room was false advertising. Idk man just expected something different than what I thought

I have stayed here a few times...and the front desk person has always been testy and a touch eccentric, but this time her eccentricity has exceeded to the point that rudeness is a mild word for her. Check out time is 11 a.m.....do not by any means make a mistake that it is noon...it started by my guy going off to go skiing and I stayed back to wait for him...at 10:15, the maid tried to gain entry to the room, without knocking...just using her key...I had it double bolted..so then she started pounding...I went to the door, and was asked if I was going to check out...I explained that yes, I was going to check out, but a little later. At 11:05 , she again pounded on the door...and I again explained that I would be checking out in a little while.. ( remember, I had thought checkout was noon)...I shut the door and not 5 minutes went by when another pounding...I opened the door and it's the front desk person...she pushes past me into the room...looks in the bath and all around and then turns on me and gets in may face and yells that checkout is 11...I apologize, and very taken aback I explained that I made a mistake and thought that checkout was at noon. She grabs the door and points at a little brown tag that has a number 11 in and says," It says it right here", and then again turns on me and says..."it's also on your paperwork if you had bothered to read it"...I offer to go down and wait for my guy in the lobby with our bags, but she doesn't want that either...so she glares at me and states..."I'll give you until noon...not one minute more...so you better call your better half and tell him...understand?" WOW....don't worry lady...we won't be back...ever and you can have that room all you want......

We appreciate you taking the time to report on your stay with us. We are sorry that your experience with us was so dismal. It is much better for us to know when we have acted inappropriately and to be given a chance to improve ourselves. This specific interaction has been dealt with and we have put a big effort into turning around our guest service skills. After overworking our staff we have recently added two new assistant managers and hope to be given another chance to prove our worth.

We booked a room for 4 people in August 2015. They gave us the room number 10. Everthing was fine (we even used the outdoor jaccuzzi) until we discovered in the middle of the night little insects on one of the bed. One of those insects bited my husband and we realized there were bed bugs. As we didn't want to sleep in a bed full of bed bugs, I had to sleep with my two daughters in a bed for 2 people and my husband had to sleep in the bathroom (in the tub). The next morning we talked to the staff and they told us they didn't know about it and they will give us another room for the next night. The second room (the room number 12) was okay. The breakfast was aslo a big disappointement! We highly suggest you to find another hotel in the city of Mammoth!!

This was our second annual motorcycle ride out to Mammoth Lakes. I decided to try the Holiday Hause because of its location and lower cost than where we stayed last year. I arranged for 5 rooms for our group well in advance and the staff said we could check in around 2pm. We got there a little after 2pm and all of the rooms were ready except for one. No big deal. As is our custom, we settled into the rooms and passed around a few cocktails and were standing around the rooms socializing. Now keep in mind, we were a group of 9 with an average age above 50 I would say. Were not a loud bunch of biker trash as most of the group is made up of business owners. Well we hadn't been there 10 mins and the lady that seem to run the place, we'll call her Broomhilda, for review purposes, came out and told us all to not hang around the rooms as it looked bad. She didn't seem to care about the mountain bikers whose kids where speeding back and forth across the parking lot on their bicycles, go figure.

So we walked into town and as luck would have it, got to enjoy the Tequila festival and dinner. Upon returning, 4 out of 5 of the rooms we had found out they had no toilet paper. As we one at a time went to the front office to acquire some, each of us was greeted by Broomhilda telling us this was our fault for checking in early. Keep in mind, they were done servicing all of the rooms but one when we checked in.

The next morning we continued to be disappointed in the laughable breakfast offering. Hope you like a piece of bread with your coffee because that was it.

Well, in spite of this place and the manager, we had a great trip. I guess next year I'll keep on reading the reviews and see if we can find a winner somewhere else.

We've stayed here for many years on annual fishing trips to the Mammoth Lakes area and have always enjoyed the good value and central location. It's been "well-worn" for a number of years but always served our purposes just fine. Now last summer they completely renovated the place and it has really improved with room prices still one of the best deals in the entire Bishop to Lee Vining area. Having only 15 rooms, it's a small motel but the rooms are very large and two are big enough "cabins" (still just large motel rooms to me - not free standing cabins) that they have complete kitchens with full frig, stove, etc. They now also have a free, very adequate continental breakfast and free wifi in the rooms which are nice additions. Located on Main St. it's still in a quiet section but within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, etc. Set among the trees and down off the street, it's a little tricky to see from Main St. if you're not familiar with the area. Just look for the distinctive large sign hidden somewhat in the trees but close to the street and then a sharp driveway down into the place. Parking is limited for the number of rooms but adequate. New flat screen TVs with a large cable selection is also new and welcomed. All in all, a good place to stay whether fishing, skiing, biking or whatever in this beautiful region of California.
