I have stayed at the Alexander twice and really like this place. It's in a downtown historic-feeling neighborhood (the gayborhood) and in walking distance of everything except the Art Museum. You really feel like you live in Philly when you stay here. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not overly chatty, so it's not like staying in a B&B,...

The Alexander Inn, which we stayed at in February 2012, radiates old world charm. It is situated in the Washington Square West neighbourhood, and within walking distance of places such as City Hall, the Reading Terminal Market, and the Independence Mall area. The decor has a distinctly vintage, almost European, vibe. Our room was compact – sufficient for stay of...

The Alexander is a charming hotel, up-to-date but with a lot of atmosphere. Our room was well appointed and the floor was quiet (even though our room was next to the elevator). The breakfast buffet was generous and, as others have noted, some fruit and pastries were available throughout the day. The staff is very engaging -- friendly and helpful...

We spent 3 days and 2 nights in Philadelphia at The Alexander Inn. Our room was great and compact with everything we needed as well as an expanded continental breakfast and discounted parking. All in all a great stay for everyone.

We have been coming to the Alexander Inn before it was "discovered". It is noteworthy because it is a reclamation project of a property that could have easily fallen into urban decay. The narrowness of the building belies its functionality. Location, location, location. In the heart of Philly's gayborhood, a few blocks from South Street at one perimeter and Walnut...

Very welcoming, reception staff always friendly and helpful. My (single) room was not huge but was ideal for me, and the price was good. Could easily walk from here to many of the main Philadelphia sights and there are bars and restauarants close by. Basic Buffet (fruit, biscuits etc) available all day - which was great when I got back...

We had a nice room on the north end of the fourth floor with an intimate view of adjacent rooftops. Located on the edge of beautiful Society Hill, the Alexander Inn is within walking distance of many attractions. Small bathroom but completely adequate. Evidence of mice.

Welcoming and friendly. The room we had was charming, and clean. The price of the parking and room was extreemly reasonable for Philly. Location is tops, and within walking distances of great restaurants.

The Alexander Hotel is conveniently located and an extraordinarily good value. The rooms are very clean and the complimentary continental breakfast is very well done. Joe Mck is exceptionally helpful at the front desk and a real asset to the hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend the Alexander Inn.

A nice little hotel, well located. Rooms are small but clean. Breakfast buffet is pretty standard. Tria just across the street runs good happy hour deals. As long as you don't mind walking a few blocks there is easy access to the subway (or whatever the subway is called in Phila) and the bus routes on S. Broad St.
