I would have given this hotel 5 stars EXCEPT for the hidden fees (40.00 tax for one night), the crowded parking lot, and the extremely loud road noise. Be sure to ask for a room away from the highway even if you don't have much of a view on that side. It was very hard to sleep with what sounded like drag racing all night long with pulsing music. Other than that the rooms were spacious and very clean, the beds very comfortable, the shower spotless. The breakfast was good and coffee surprisingly delicious. The service was friendly and anxious to please.

I occasionally visit Philly for appointments and I’ve stayed here in the past. For my more recent visits, I’ve splurged a bit and stayed closer to center city as I was able to get good rates during the pandemic. I came back here this time because it was, by far, the best value. This location is a bit of a walk but that’s fine with me - it is pretty close to the historic area which is nice and the riverfront views are nice.

If you’re a light sleeper, beware. The hotel is wedged on a piece of property between 95 and Columbus Boulevard. I had a corner room on the south side of the building and one of the room windows was actually able to slide open a little ways (no screen which is probably a safety hazard) and the traffic noise was deafening. Closing the window eliminated most of the noise except for some dull roars. I like having white noise when I sleep so I was fine with it.

The one issue I had was being on the 9th floor (out of 10) was that when the hotel is relatively empty, the hot water takes forever to get to the upper floors. I learned that when I tried to take a shower my first evening. The front desk explained that the best way was to run the tub faucet until it got hot. They offered me the opportunity to switch rooms but it wasn’t worth the trouble. It was fine the next morning but I’m not a super early riser - whoever took the first shower of the morning probably wasn’t very happy. Also, it would’ve been nice to be given a heads up when I checked in as the hotel staff was well aware of this issue. I felt bad wasting so much water so I ended up just taking a warm shower that first night.

All in all, I’d give this a 3.5 but I’ll be generous and round up. The hotel was clean and breakfast was decent. They used to have a free shuttle van but I never saw it this time (and I didn’t have a need for it so I never asked). Be aware that, like all city hotels, they charge for parking but it’s not as pricey as hotels downtown. In fact, the room rates here are generally pretty good and I appreciate the special rates they offer for patients coming to town.

Dear CosmoVA, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are happy to hear that you are a returning customer! Our location is pretty ideal for anyone looking to check out the local attractions or visit Center City for business/leisure. As for the hot water issue, out maintenance team is looking into ways to prevent such long wait times. This is a fairly new issue we are experiencing, we hope to get it under control relatively fast. As you mentioned, we are always willing and ready to ensure your stay is to your liking. If a room is not up to your standards, we will do our best to rectify the issue. Again, thanks for the feedback. Please reach out to us if your travels bring you back to Philadelphia!

The important thing to note about me is that my #1 priority in a hotel is that its clean and has a bed and a shower. If you are just looking for a place to sleep than this will do. I don't generally need a lot of fuss and in those categories it excelled. The location was also great because we could leave our car parked and walk everywhere. The cost for what it was though was too high as it was just a budget hotel. Also, the refrigerator froze everything ruining my salad and not just a little, it was cold enough that it caused several sodas we had in there to burst. The drain in the tub did not drain. It was not really clear whether there was daily cleaning service or not, I know a lot of places stopped doing this during the pandemic but usually its noted somewhere or they tell you. The first day they didn't come but the second day they did come in and make our beds and leave fresh towels. This was kind of an issue because there were four of us and three towels and nowhere to hang them up. The highway was a little loud but it didn't bother us.

We stayed over Presidents Day weekend and it of course is a busy weekend but the front desk staff could barely be bothered when we spoke to them. When we came to check in on Friday night the guy that checked us in was extremely unfriendly and cold. We went up to our room and in the elevator was a giant sign that said there would be a hefty cleaning fee if there were any signs of Valentine’s Day romance in your room. We got to our room and it was clean but dated. We were there for two days and parking in philly on a busy weekend is no treat so we decided to try to utilize the shuttle service the hotel offers instead. We waited over forty five minutes on Saturday and no shuttle came back to the hotel through out that time. We asked the front desk and the three people behind the desk seemed actually bothered by our questions as to how it worked. The woman behind the desk vaguely answered that it was on demand but then couldn’t tell us how to get in contact with the driver. We finally gave up and took our chances driving, when we finally came back around 10:30 and there wasn’t a spot available in the lot. Having paid $30 a night to park I wouldn’t expect that, so they had a valet that took your keys and double parked you in the lot and would move you to a space if one became available. We were kind of floored that we had to do this but figured we had no choice. We came down on Sunday morning at 9 for breakfast and the line was horrendous and almost everything was empty, the oatmeal was out, the sausage was empty, and there were no eggs. We decided to skip dealing with the crowds and lack of food and check out at that point because we were totally disappointed. This definitely did not live up to any other IHG experience I’ve had and I definitely would not stay here again. The only upside to the whole experience was housekeeping, everyone we passed in the hallways could not have been friendlier, maybe management should consider putting them at the front desk as it would create a much more hospitable and warm environment upon arrival.

We went to see Jimmy Buffet in BB&T Pavilion across the river in Camden NJ. This hotel was clean, comfortable, and had a cute bar on the water. The best part was the ferry ride which takes you across the water directly to BB&T for only 15$ PP round trip. So much fun and lovely scenery.

Arrived on a Sunday, requested maid service on Tuesday but did not get any. Requested again on Wednesday along with needing toilet paper and tissues but told wont get any service for five days. No service on Thursday or Friday so what is the definition of 5 days? Daytime employee refused to wear a mask against state and corporate covid policy? Evening employees friendly and helpful.
Have to order breakfast everyday from a checklist. Nothing hot. Dont worry about what cereal you check off, it will always be frosted flakes. Want blueberry muffins? Order them but enjoy the chocolate chip ones that arrive. Save time every morning to thaw your frozen orange or apple juice before drinking. Didnt always get everything requested and silverware/napkins forgotten a few times. You're in a city so some noise is expected but not nightly motorcycle drag racing, atv wheelies back and forth in front of the hotel because its the only wide straight-away with limited lights in the city. Plus the trikes with radios blasting at 3am. Arent the rooms supposed to be more soundproof? Kept me up or woke me up numerous times each night; windows closed, seven stories up. Not happy with this hotel and will not waste my money coming here again.

This hotel was clean and staff friendly. Sits along Delaware River. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops on Third St. Across the street is Race St Pier, to walk out for view. Also, Cherry St Pier which offers local arts and crafts, local bands and has a beer garden with limited food and seating along river. The reason I gave this a poor rating is because it and extremely noisy location. The Ben Franklin Bridge is almost directly across from hotel. The transit train is loud and runs often. We had river view, and on weekends anyway, the road in front seems to be used as a drag strip for loud exhaust cars and motorcycles!!! Do not book river view room if you do not want woken up several times a night. The windows are very poorly insulated, it sounded like we were directly on street level, even though we were on 8th floor. This hotel offers breakfast, although we couldn't par take due to very large groups taking over entire breakfast area leaving no seats so when we saw this we did not bother during our stay. We did not know the area and were very disappointed in our hotel selection for local noise only.

This was a great hotel, unlike many others they have a self park option on site, most other hotels are valet and off site parking so that was a huge bonus! The hotel had a safe and mini fridge in the room, quick free breakfast in the morning, and nice views of the water. The AC worked great, the water pressure was ok but it was a little outdated with the decor and vibe of the room, bathroom was a little musty, could have been a bit cleaner, but it is what it is! This hotel is essentially on the border of New Jersey so it is quite the hike if you want to walk downtown. Also it is located on major highways, so it is very noisy at all hours.

Our team was booked at this hotel for a sporting event. I was a little concerned about this hotel because of noise complaints in other reviews. The hotel it’s between I-95 and the river. To be expected, the noise from the highway was pretty bad but not unbearable. The hotel walls are thin and you can hear everything going on in the rooms around you. If you like a quiet hotel, this is not the place to stay. With that being said, our room was clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff are polite, especially the gentleman working breakfast. Parking is easy and secure. We felt very safe. It is walking distance to lots of attractions and restaurants. If you can handle a noisy hotel room, there are a lot of great reasons to stay here. But believe the reviews about the noise. They aren’t exaggerating.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Penn’s Landing for two days. Our room was very clean and very inviting. Our hotel was close to many of the sites of downtown Philly. We even had an amazing view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Breakfast was served in a bag due to Covid restrictions. Overall, I would love to stay here again!
