I’m surprised by how much I liked this hotel. The rooms are small, but the space is utilized very well with a cozy feel. I never had any noise issues and had a nice city view from the ninth floor. Housekeeping came every day, which feels more necessary in such a small space (small enough that a couple days’ worth of dirty towels would be annoying). Floors felt really clean (no carpet and no drapes either — ideal for allergy sufferers) … And every single staff member was friendly and nice.
I think that to me, rooms this size would be too tight for two people. Maaaaybe with your significant other would be ok, but definitely too small for friends. Aside from privacy preferences, the small room size means not a lot of room for luggage, clothes, etc. even for one person.
The rate wasn’t bad during my stay. It was quick to order at the coffee shop and the prices weren’t bad. Note this is the only way to get coffee in the hotel as there’s no complimentary coffee and no in-room coffee maker although there is a fridge. (No microwave). Margaritas in the restaurant were really good but everything else felt a bit overpriced to me (except at the daily happy hour!) and service was hit or miss out of a few visits during my stay.
Great location walkable to a lot. My only suggestions for improvement would be 1.) I felt like the room needed a third lamp; i love low lighting, but the provided lamps were just not quite enough to really be able to see. And, the WiFi seemed spotty? Maybe it’s my device, but I kept having to go in and re-select the network.
Enjoy Philly!

The place to stay! We loved being within walking distance of Jenni's Ice Cream and Rittenhouse Square. Nice walk to Reading Market. Inexpensive Uber or public transportation to get to Phil Museums. So many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Great option for those on a budget! Thanks to Mo, at the front desk. She was so courteous and helpful. Super clean room and a comfy bed! Would definitely be our choice again on a return trip.

I stayed at the Motto of philadelphia for the first time, as a Hilton member i wanted to see what was different about it, i was there for a weekend out and this was the first micro hotel i’ve stayed in and LOVED the concept , it’s minimal, clean and in the perfect location to have a day out at museums and a night out at some bars. unlike other hilton brands it was great on price , specially in rittenhouse plus the staff was also so kind to us, made us feel like we can go to them for any recommendations in the area. Definitely will be coming back next time i need a weekend away from home!

We had an amazing four-night stay at Motto Philly! From the moment we checked in, the staff was super friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was a bit small but very comfortable, and it was clean and quiet. All of the appliances were in great condition—and the AC kept us plenty cool in the July heat. The hotel's location in Center City was perfect, as it allowed us to walk everywhere—to numerous bars and restaurants as well as parks and museums. We also felt very safe. There was a nice coffee shop in the lobby (try the mocha), and the Mexican restaurants (on both the ground floor and rooftop) were first rate. We will definitely stay here again!

This is our favorite place to stay in Philly. The parking is easy with a reasonably priced parking garage directly across the street. The rooms are modern and aesthetically pleasing. The attached restaurant and rooftop bar have a great vibe, food, and drinks. The attached coffee shop is open at 6am for us early risers with great coffee choices. We love the Rittenhouse area for its central location to UPenn, shops, eateries, culture, and Old City. We have been before and will be back again.

I stayed at the Motto looking for a hotel with a good cost that was close to everything that I wanted to visit. The Motto fits that bill. As the woman told me when I checked in ‘the Motto concept is for people that don’t want to spend time in their rooms’, meaning they want to go out and do things. Which I wanted to do.
The room was small but had everything I needed for my stay. It was comfortable and clean. The bed was perfect and I got two great night’s sleep. The mattress was firm and soft and provides excellent sleeping.
The bathroom was small but the shower was excellent and I like that the hotel does not do the single serve amenities anymore which are so bad for the environment. The ones provided were really nice and I smelled good after my long days of walking around.
The hotel’s location is perfect and you can walk to everything from the colleges to city hall. You do not need a car or taxi. You are a couple of blocks to all the sites.
The service at the hotel was wonderful. The staff could not have been nicer. I lost my hotel key in the street and panicked. I had visions of some homeless guy sleeping in my room. The front desk woman calmed me down on the phone and deactivated my key and issued me a new one. She told me this happens all the time. She also worked with me on my last day so I could go out and enjoy the City on my last day.
I had a great stay and the price and location are great and I highly recommend the hotel.

I don't write many reviews, but I'd be careful about this "bargain" hotel because it certainly wasn't worth what we paid for it. Main positive is that it's in a great location in Philly, but I'd be careful staying here if you'll have more than one person sleeping in each bed or if you prioritize having a good night's sleep!
The beds at this Motto are very small and uncomfortable (sheets that didn't extend the length of the bed, terribly thin blankets, and a very lumpy mattress). We booked a "queen room" but on arrival discovered it was a full/double mattress. When we asked to move to a room with the correct size mattress, we were informed that Hilton considers a (less than) 54-inch wide bed a "queen" and that Motto doesn't have any larger beds. The staff were extremely rude and dismissive when we raised this concern, so we requested to move to a bunk bed room with twin beds. In that room, the mattresses were similarly uncomfortable and the bed frame continuously squeaked throughout the night.
Overall, slept terribly throughout our time in Philly, which very much colored our trip...would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, especially regarding the bedding and service experience. Our goal is always to provide a comfortable and welcoming stay, and it's disappointing to learn that we fell short in your case. We understand how important a good night's sleep is, and we regret that our room setup and mattress quality did not provide the comfort you were expecting. While our rooms are designed with a compact and efficient layout, we acknowledge that bed size and comfort preferences vary, and we appreciate your perspective. Additionally, we sincerely apologize if our team’s response to your concerns came across as anything less than helpful. Providing excellent guest service is our top priority, and we will be addressing this internally to ensure better communication and assistance in the future. We truly value your feedback and would love the opportunity to make things right. If you're open to it, please reach out to us directly so we can further discuss your experience.

The hotel was perfect for what we were looking for which was a comfortable but less expensive place to spend a long weekend in Philadelphia. We wanted a place that would be within walking distance of many places so we wouldn't have to move our car for the entire weekend. We also wanted to stay in a place with a vibrant street scene both in the daytime and in the evening. This hotel did not disappoint. We had a very small room with what was advertised as a queen bed. We have a queen bed at home, but this one was definitely smaller than ours at home. So maybe it did qualify as a queen bed, but it did seem smaller to us than a standard US queen sized bed. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well both nights we were there. We loved the modern vibe of the place and the finishes in our room. The shower had a good amount of water pressure and plenty of hot water. We were able to walk everywhere and had a great time exploring the Saturday Farmer's market at Rittenhouse Square, walking in and relaxing in the park both during the day and in the evening, dining at Spice Finch and Monk's Cafe (for our dinners), Green Eggs Cafe (breakfast), and the Old Nelson Food Company (deli lunch and snacks). We also had wonderful cocktails one night at the restaurant bar attached to the hotel, Condesa, and the second evening at Andra Hem on 16th street. The rooms don't have coffee makers, but good coffee is just downstairs in the lobby at, Le Cafe. We also did some shopping while we were in town. There is a large variety of stores within walking distance. We also enjoyed spending an hour or so at the Rodin Museum. It is a wonderful little museum with a good garden and outdoor sculptures.

My college dorm bathroom was bigger than this one. Call a tiny, bare-bones studio apartment (not even a table in the room) a "boutique" hotel room and you can charge $250 a night for absolutely nothing. No coffee pot in the room, so definitely no coffee before 7AM, when most working people are either getting ready for work or are on their way to work. Coffee in lobby for a fee (and they'll add a tip and a "kitchen fee" whether or not you wish to add a tip. $8.00 for medium coffee and 3 oz juice, neither of which is available until 7AM. No fridge in the room, either, so forget taking those yummy lunch leftovers back to the room for later. Every smell in the hallway found its way to my room but no way to open the windows. Awful scented spray when I walked in the room, probably to cover up the smells. Great location, just too cramped and too pricey for no amenities.

The hotel is very conveniently located in Central Philadelphia. It is a rebranded Pod hotel, which is a type of microhotel with bare bones accommodations. Overall adequate relative to what you're paying. The adaptation is modern and clean, and the bar and lobby area look pleasant and inviting. Did not have the time for the rooftop bar but pictures were attractive and If I had more time I would definitely visit. First impression was not the best as the doors were locked at around 9pm and no one responded when I repeatedly pressed a button. Fortunately the Hilton digital key worked, this is unacceptable and should be fixed. Parking is across the street but park yourself otherwise you will be charged $50, I paid less than half of that.

I felt pretty safe walking around the neighborhood, but it's quite a hike to the train station, and I don't know if there are any pedestrian bridges over the river.
You might want to take a cab/rideshare or transit to the hotel.
