I like the location in the Oranges and the friendly staff which is clearly the Cambria's biggest asset. Nice big room with panoramic windows and all the comfort I needed. Kitchen was closed due to COVID measures but free coffee was available in the mornings. The staff is very friendly and pays attention to the guests needs. My room had a little bar/kitchenette with a Keurig and free coffee and tea, and the room was quite spacious. I can only recommend the Cambria, West Orange to other Travelers.
excellent stay- the manager made signs for our sports team and was very hospitable. We stayed during covid and everything was super clean. The Executive housekeeper was also very hard working and helpful.
We stayed for one night in October 2020 to attend a wedding nearby. It was the hotel selected by the bride & groom. Positive: I like the modern setup of the room and the free standing bed. The Bluetooth mirror/shower seems to be a bit of overkill. A couple of negatives: 1) Check in staff was not especially friendly, nor did they have accurate information. We asked about alternate ground floor door access and she told us twice our room key would open the ground access doors. We found out at 11 pm when returning from the event that was not the case. So we had to walk around the hotel in order to enter at the main entrance. Inconvenience that could have been avoided with proper information. 2) Our room wasn’t cleaned well prior to check-in. When we checked in we had a limited amount of time to dress for the wedding we were attending. After getting ready, we found that housekeeping had missed removing a pair of socks from a previous guest. As we were already short on time and I hate the idea of anyone accessing my room while I am not present, we didn’t notify the front desk of this cleaning oversight until late evening. We received an apology from the front desk. And that was it. By that time, i didn’t want to go through the hassle of getting another room & I just wanted to sleep. I figured it was only one night, however, it was an unpleasant mark on our experience. Additionally, this hotel uses the bulk toiletries that are locked down in the shower area. Even though the hotel itself looks fairly new, these toiletries were already showing signs of rust and grunge. No thank you. 3) Guests could be better behaved. When you check in, there are large signs in the lobby and by the elevators that warn about smoking and noise violations and eviction from the hotel. I thought it was odd that they felt they needed to have such signs. If only I would have heeded them more. When I was going to bed a little after midnight, some fellow occupants of the fourth floor decided to have a rather loud duet in the hallway. Although under normal circumstances I appreciate listening to a good voice, after midnight and for more than an hour, was neither the time nor place. Given that the front desk did nothing about our room condition, I figured a similar result would happen if I called about the noise complaint. Besides, I wasn’t about to go into the hallway to request quiet, either. Who knows how that would have been received these days? Eventually, exhaustion took over and I slept in spite of the noise. 3) Price finally charged was higher than what was quoted on the website. Another interesting thing about this hotel is that they charge your card an additional $150 upon check in in order to cover any damages in advance. I’m accustomed to the warning upon check in that your card could be charged for damages, but actually charging the card in advance was a new experience. When checking in and out, absolutely no paperwork was given, which is understandable in the age of COVID, I suppose. However, nothing was emailed to me either. So I had nothing to cross reference except for the reservation email I originally made and the credit card charge that was finally issued. In the end, after the $150 damage charge was refunded, my bill was still higher than what the reservation email originally quoted. That alone was the final straw for me.…
We chose this hotel as our preferred choice for guests for our wedding held in South Orange, NJ. I needed a room to invite make up and hair stylists in the morning to so our styling for the day of my wedding and my room worked out perfectly. It had a front room where we could get styled and then we went to the venue after that. We also got offered to use their conference room for our after party when we returned back to the hotel and that was great too! We played music and danced all night and had a cash bar. I appreciated the space and also everyone loved the convenience and layout of their room. It was a great experience to use this hotel as a preferred choice during my wedding time.
