Being history buffs, my wife and I have traveled to Gettysburg, Pa., more times than I can count to take in the national military park and the charm of the town. When we stay there, we always come back to Doubleday Inn, which sits on Oak Ridge on the north side of the battlefield. We have been to other B&Bs...

We came to Gettysburg to take in the battlefield and tour the town. The inn is located right on the battlefield so you can let your imagination go wild as you drink your morning coffee. We came from Maine, and interestingly enough there is a Main Monument directly across from the Inn! The breakfast was delicious and the conversation was...

We stayed here over a weekend at the end of July. I mistakenly booked our trip for the end of August, but when we arrived (a month early) Christine was very gracious and welcomed us right in anyway. The room was perfect for us, very quiet and clean. The common area felt like home, which is not the case in...

The Doubleday Inn was one of the nicest inns I've ever stayed at. A few things to point out right away is the respect and hospitality that radiates from the innkeepers, as well as the beautiful location. I was thinking that this inn would be any old inn, but I was wrong. It sure was old (built in the 1930s),...

You can’t get much closer to the battlefield than the Doubleday Inn. It’s right on the battlefield and has some amazing views. It has a lovely living room and dining room as well as a relaxing back patio. We stayed in the Robert E. Lee suite. Very comfortable and roomy. Beware, the bathtub is quite high so if you’re not...

Staying on battlefield was special experience. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Owners are gracious, friendly and knowledgeable. Inn is beautifully decorated and rooms are cozy. Have visited Gettysburg several times and would stay at Inn again.

I stayed here a while back, and it was a pleasant experience. The family was very hospitable, the rooms were cozy and ample, and the location is one of a kind. If you're into history, this is definitely a place to check out, but even if you're not, you can't beat the location - you're only a short jaunt away...

We had no reservation because of an incident at another B&B (see my Cashtown Inn review, freaky owners), so we walked into the Doubleday and we were so happy. The owners were so kind to us and were happy to offer a room for the night. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was really large in our room....

This is the only Inn directly on the battlefield. You are surrounded by monuments and the Battlefield. The Innkeepers are extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and also any new news about local actions to improve the site. Since this is an old historic home, the guest rooms are not huge - but very adequate, with modern bathrooms...

The Doubleday Inn has become our favorite getaway. The innkeepers, Todd and Christine, couldn't be more hospitable and welcoming. The location is perfect and the "bed and breakfast" simply the best. Meeting Cooper this past trip was an extra special bonus. Can't wait to go back!
