We were visiting the Vanderbilt and Staatsburgh mansions and FDR's home in Hyde Park, NY for a short weekend get-away. We picked the Roosevelt Inn based on the generally positive reviews on tripadvisor and our desire to support the small business. This is a motel...More
Cozy place; Stayed on second floor.
Very large room. Clean. Standard looking.
Nice breakfast room on first floor.
Bagels, cereal, etc.
Price was somewhat expensive for my taste ($165).
Overall nice place but should not cost so much.
I choose the Roosevelt Inn due to the positive comments found on Trip Advisor. I was traveling with friends/family. They took a king in the newer section. I went with rustic in the older section. My traveling companions said their room was wonderful. Mine was...More

We were very pleasantly surprised to have a very nice stay at one of the Mom & Pop type road inns in Hyde Park. When we checked in, the woman at the desk was very nice, talkative and accommodating, as we came in just before...More

Everything is very close. Drive your own vehicle to the FDR Museum and House Visitor's Center. There is ample parking. From here you purchase your tickets for your various tours. Take the shuttle bus to the Eleanor sites because parking is extremely limited there. Seriously small. The ride is less than 5 minutes from the Visitor's Center. From the Eleanor site you can walk up the hill to meet for the Top Cottage, or book a tour with the ride up there. You can only take a shuttle bus to Top Cottage, and it is about 15 minutes from the main Visitor's Center.
Can't help with the CIA. It was closed when we were there.
If you haven't planned on the Vanderbilt Mansion, add it to your trip. It's magnificent.
We stayed at the Roosevelt Inn right in town, and on a nice day, you can walk to the Vanderbilt Mansion.
