Booked online. Based on description and price... Upon arrival I swear the staff was high. We were further shocked by the accommodations. Our room was exactly that, a closet... The toilet? Shared with 6 other "rooms"... The shower? Same deal, except worse... 1 unisex for the entire floor... Honestly it's a hostel NOT a hotel

I’m very sorry to hear that the accommodations were not to your liking. You mention that you booked online. We have gone out of our way to make our room descriptions as specific and clear as possible. You'll find that on our external booking websites the description of the room you booked is as follows: “Standard single room with shared... More

Loved it. Friendly staff greeted us with a beer tasting. Awesome location right on the river walk. Comfy beds and a very relaxed atmosphere made for a great stay. Breakfast was at the street 14 cafe which is attached. We will definitely be back!

We were a little wary of renting a hotel room with the bathroom down the hall, but we are so glad that we did. The finishes are high-end, including classy tilework and marble in the bathroom and great linens. The historic charm was obvious, parking was easy on the street outside the hotel, and we were walking distance to several... More

I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome our stay here was. The place was really clean and well decorated. If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, this is a must stay while visiting Astoria. (They do offer rooms with without a shared bathroom as well.) The staff members were laid back, very friendly & welcoming. I enjoyed the hip, relaxed... More

The restoration and transformation of this boutique hotel is a real delight. As my 3rd stay I believe I have enough perspective to both endorse the hotel's concept, and request some changes. I could tell the street facing windows are noticeably quieter. But the ear plugs provided in the night stand are needed and appreciated. The squeaky floors are an... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the Commodore Hotel in downtown Astoria. I was in town for some family business and to do a running race along the Columbia River. The location is prefect for taking in the numerous Astoria eateries and craft brew spots. I chose a suite with an in room bath. The room was spacious and well... More

We stayed a night here after hearing good reviews about it. The lobby and decor are great! Since we and the other coupe we were traveling with, were each staying in one of the small rooms, with the shared bathrooms, we went back down to the lobby to hang out after checking in. We enjoyed great music next to the... More

This hotel is great. We really loved it here and would stay again if ever in Astoria! The shared bathrooms had us a little nervous but they are luxury and impeccably clean. I never encountered anyone else! Our room was comfortable and unique. I loved the windows. The front desk staff was so friendly and she invited us to a... More

We stopped in Astoria on an impulse on a road trip to the Oregon coast. We stumbled across the Commodore after being discouraged by the prices at the Elliot. Kimber greeted us and was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She showed us three types of rooms (including one with private bath, which we took) and she offered us a discounted rate... More

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday a part of our trip between Seattle and Portland. The place is new(with a great history) and very clean. It is not for everyone but we loved it. The GM and wife are very friendly and helpful. There can be some street noise and chatter through the walls but it wasn't too... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of the Astoria Downtown Historic District, the Commodore Hotel occupies the 1925 Lewis Building, designed by John E. Wicks, Astoria's most influential architect. The hotel operated from 1925 until 1968, first as the Barton Inn Hotel and then as the Commodore. Shuttered for 40 years, the Commodore reopened in 2009 after an extraordinary renovation. Retaining the original doors, windows, woodwork, and fixtures-all meticulously rehabilitated-the Commodore is now a shining example of the highest standards of contemporary design and construction. The Commodore shares the historic Lewis Building with the legendary Street 14 Coffee, which you can enter directly from the lobby. Downtown Astoria is overflowing with sensory delights-dining, shopping, hiking and more are at your fingertips. Take a romantic stroll along the scenic Riverwalk. Take a ride on the Riverfront Trolley. Take a swim at the Aquatic Center. As our guest, you have access to a curated selection of films available on DVD from the front desk. Watch Goonies in the town where it was filmed. Spend a blustery night curled up with Chinatown or Magnolia. Put together a personal film festival by choosing from over 100 available titles ranging from 3 Days of the Condor to The X-Files. The Commodore understands the importance of sustainable and Earth-friendly business practices. We recycle-and we encourage our guests to do the same-and the hotel is kept sparkling with eco-safe cleaning products. Our commitment to sustainability is recognized by the Travel Oregon Forever Network. Free parking is readily available within a few blocks. Short-term street parking in front of the hotel is usually an option for check-in. The front desk can guide you to long-term parking near the hotel. ... more   less
