The SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown/Historic District offers a prime location close to attractions, which guests appreciate, though some suggest better value can be found elsewhere. The hotel's friendly service receives compliments, but travelers often report dissatisfaction with the cleanliness, particularly in the bathrooms, and note the property and its amenities, such as the pool and elevator, are in need of updates and maintenance.
While the rooms are recognized for their size and comfort, the outdated decor and cleanliness issues are drawbacks. Guests have mixed feelings about the separate toilet layout and overall hotel atmosphere.

I stayed here for one week during their renovation on the 6th floor. Luckily, the sound didn't bother me while I was working. I care about fast, reliable internet when I'm traveling for work and I'm happy to say the internet was top-notch here. They even have an ethernet outlet if you want to bring your own cable (but I did not need to use it). The toilet is located in a different room than the shower/sink (which can be awkward if you're on a couples trip I guess) but very useful for families. They also have restrooms on the first floor. I was super happy with my stay and I found the staff pleasant at all times. Poor staff shouldn't have been subjected to the horrible construction noise though - noise pollution is real! The breakfast was standard - nothing horribly special, but very on brand for Marriott-and I never got sick from the food! The room was very clean. The shower was quick to get hot. Very quiet.

The staff was great as was the location. We were able to park and walk everywhere through the historic district and Riverwalk area. We did not like the sliding doors on the bathroom and toilet rooms - both had glass on the doors. Whenever someone used the toilet or took a shower the light through the glass doors would light up the entire bedroom. There was also a closet between the two rooms which was odd and inconvenient. First night there we noticed the tub wasn’t draining properly but maintenance came and fixed it quickly.

Wow, this was disappointing. The hotel needs some maintenance. We stayed 5 nights, and only one elevator was working the entire time. Daily parking is valet only and $40 per day!!! Convenient public parking garage a few steps a day only $20 per day. Some public area carpets are worn, housekeeping was not the best I have seen at other Marriott properties. Breakfast was fine, coffee was always hot, although the breakfast area was quite crowded between 8:30 - 9:30. Staff was courteous and efficient. The owners need to invest some $$$ for upgrades. Room was nicely sized and comfortable.

I booked this hotel for a couple day rest from a road trip. The exterior is nice looking and it's in a good location walkable to restaurants and entertainment. I gave two stars only because of the location and hardworking, professional staff. Aside from the lobby (not new or shiny but decent), the interior needs to be gutted down to the studs. Walls, ceiling, rugs, tile, furniture, bathroom, loud ineffective AC; all worn, tattered, discolored or dirty. Not housekeeping's fault, stuff is just really really old. Compares to motels along 95 but with a fairly comfy Marriott bed. If it wasn't for traveling with my 91 year old mom who needed immediate rest, I would have ran out the door to another hotel. If on a budget, it's good enough for a brief stay, though way overpriced at about $300/night so not cheap. If you are the least bit discriminating, this is not the place for you. Lastly, it's way under-resourced. One person in the restaurant as bartender and server during prime evening hours, They only offer valet parking at $38/night and always only one attendant. I'm being ripped off for parking and have to wait 30 minutes to get my car or leave my keys because he's always overwhelmed with volume, huh? Marriot is just milking this place and not reinvesting, so take your hard earned dollars to a brand that values your hospitality experience.

My friends and I came down to Savannah on a girls trip. We stayed at the SpringHill Suites Downtown Historic District and we had a wonderful experience from the time we check in to check out. Avery the valet assistant was great; nice friendly young man always had a smile on greeting us took our bags brought our big bags to our rooms and park our car within 5 minutes. The front desk assistant Jamie was so nice and sweet; she helped us with everything. Overall it was a great girls trip and we will be back soon!

Very nice hotel conveniently located for easy walking. Room was spacious and I liked the idea of having the toilet in another room separate from the shower/sink. Front desk staff was great - extremely helpful and always cheerful. They don't do housekeeping daily which we were fine with. We did run into housekeeping the first morning who asked if we needed our room serviced so that was a nice touch. Room is desperately in need of more hooks or towel racks! There was one hook and one towel rack for three people. Breakfast was good though the powder eggs got old after a few days. We were really hoping that we might have bacon especially since it was a Saturday but it was sausage. We loved Savannah, the people and really enjoyed SpringHill Suites and hope to return next year after they've updated the hotel (and added hooks and bacon 😀)

Pros: The room was fine for our family of 5 for one night as we explored Savannah and headed to the airport the next morning. The toilet room was separate from the shower room, which was nice for usage. The breakfast was really good, something for everyone! Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, waffles, bagels, etc. The air conditioning was great, and we were comfortable all night. The water pressure from the shower was also good. The staff were extremely kind and friendly, and we felt welcomed from the moment we walked in the door. Plenty of room for everyone to sit and relax while in the room. The location was amazing, we could get on a trolley tour, walk easily to the Riverfront and Leopold's - everything we needed within reach!
Cons: I'll preface this by admitting I am used to slightly higher end hotels in the Marriott brand. I wish there were 2 toilets (a second toilet in the shower room would make sense). The couch pullout bed was uncomfortable, you could feel every spring and there were crumbs of something on the mattress before we put the sheets on. There was what looked like mold in the shower room, and the finishes were rusty. The toilet room has a sliding door on it, and when closed you could see what looked like dried urine and dust behind the door. You can only see this when the door is closed and you're inside, so I'm sure the cleaning crew misses it often. Also, when the door was closed, there was a gap large enough for anyone walking by inside the room to see you sitting on the toilet. The areas of the room that are more inconvenient to clean (corners, etc.) were not that clean.
Overall, this hotel worked for what we wanted - a safe place to sleep for one night while we explored and made our way to the airport. If the cleanliness in the room were better, I'd have no hesitation to stay here again.

This was the worst Marriott property we have ever experienced in 25+ years.... We are thankful we didn't spend over $200 for the night. We used points instead. The parking fee was a joke at $40 for overnight. We loaded and unloaded the car ourselves. However, the personnel in attendance were friendly enough. The check in was okay, albeit not a very warm and welcoming experience. Our questions were answered and that was about the extent of conversation. The next day, a young lady was wearing a mask to check us out. I believe they should not allow them because it affects customer interaction such as smiling. I thought she was nice young woman, but extremely fearful of customers. It's a free country, so far, but some behaviors are not really appropriate in a service oriented industry. There should be a policy discouraging them. She was not the only employee sporting one. The room was in desperate need of updating. It was worn down and not clean. The hallways are not airconditioned. They are smelly..like an ashtray. The simplest improvements such as light switch installs, toilet paper holder install, replacement of the door to the room-all neglected projects for improving appearance. Those are just a few. The rates are not conducive to the quality of accomodations. There was construction starting at about 6:30-7 outside our window. I was informed by a friendly concierge that money has been allotted for refurbishing the property. It can't happen soon enough. Breakfast was not up to par with limited selections and not necessarily fresh. So. While awaiting major renovations, we suggest looking elsewhere. I'm sure you'll find better for the money!

We stayed at SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown/Historic District for 4 nights in October 2023. The hotel does not provide any safes inside the rooms so we left our PC, earbuds and smart watch on the table inside the room. On our last day and just after check-out we realized that we did not have the watch with us and that it was inside the room. We informed the hotel who claimed that could not find it but that they had find a charger, i.e. the charger that goes with the watch. We went through the entire chronology of our stay at the hotel and concluded that the only place the watch could be was inside the hotel room and that (i) either someone stole the watch while we were still staying at the room or (ii) someone stole it just after we checked out.
The hotel does not want to take any responsibility and claims that the watch is nowhere to be found. Moreover, the hotel refuses to respond to any emails despite several reminders. We have requested that the hotel share the record of all key cards used to access our room while we stayed there. Still no response. We should have read through previous reviews on this hotel before booking because then we would have known that thefts are common at SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown/Historic District.
The hotel is also extremely rundown. There were stains on the couch, there were broken tiles inside the shower, and the desk carpet was dirty and full of stains.
And the breakfast was the saddest breakfast we had seen, everything is served in plastic and there are basically five choices: eggs, sausages, bagels, porridge and waffles.

This is supposed to be a Hilton hotel but it falls a long way short of the standards one would usually expect from the brand.
Our first contact was with the parking valet (Nate) and his barked, curt instructions on how to park the car were not what we expected or wanted after a 21 hour journey, there was no welcoming words from him whatsoever and his demeanour and dirty appearance left a very sour taste.
The reception staff were little better and "forgot" to tell us that the rooms we'd paid top dollar for didn't actually get cleaned/have fresh towels/have the bins emptied. This is not acceptable and neither was the attitude I received when I pointed out that the bill was wrong on checking out. I asked to see the manager as the receptionist had zero empowerment to resolve the issue but was told nobody was available until 10am, long after we needed to be at the airport.
The rooms have furniture with various rips and stains and the overall cleanliness is questionable. I had to move the one bedside table to access the wall socket only to find a disgusting, dirty ear plug, some crumbs, fluff and other food detritus. Ah yes, the one bedside table - why isn't there one on the other side of the bed? The room's aircon unit is unbearably noisy if one wants to sleep so I tried to open the window instead only to find it doesn't open at all, it's permanently sealed shut. So much for enjoying some fresh air.
The hotel is quite tired and in desperate need of both more/better trained staff and a complete overhaul. One lift was permanently out of service which resulted in long waits for the one that was actually working. I hope its displayed safety certificate expiry date that said 06/2022 was in error....
All in all this was far below expectations and did not represent value for money.

Hi Brandi,
Our pool is open year round. We do have a heated hot tub that's available. Our pool is not heated but we do have some warmer days in the winter so we do not close the pool.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you.
Dear LarryL982:
Thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful review. We are open for breakfast, and the minimum to book a group would be at least 10 rooms. Pedi cabs are available, and our concierge can arrange.
Warmest regards,
Leonard Massey
