The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Savannah Historic District receives frequent commendation for spotless rooms and its excellent locale, with attractions and dining just a stroll away. Guests appreciate the inviting atmosphere and comfortable beds, though some find the decor a tad dated and the common areas in need of more upkeep. The hotel's proximity to Bay Street, while convenient, brings with it unwelcome road noise; quieter rooms on the south side are often suggested.
While the staff garners praise for their friendliness, some service aspects, particularly valet parking, receive mixed reviews. The cost of amenities, including valet parking, has raised some eyebrows regarding value.

Latasha was very helpful at check-in! I would recommend a south facing room for less road noise which she was accommodating to this at check in. Hot coffee and cookies, clean smelling building. City of Savannah Parking garage is relatively close an easy couple block walk south for $2 an hour or $20 for 24 hours, there is no on site parking just valet which was a higher rate and not worth it, to me…but a nice option if needed.

Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed at several other Hilton Properties in this area within the last year, and while all were very good, this was the best of the lot—definitely a 4.5 experience. I'll touch on the minor issues first. It is going to be difficult to find a street noise-free room. Three major streets in the area make it difficult. Grits at the breakfast buffet, no Southerner would ever serve half-cooked grits, not all the staff speaks English, and walking areas for dogs is limited. It was a bit chilly for other pool so I didn't try it out. Occasional Wi-Fi issues, not sure if the problem was the hotel or me or something else.
Good things, The staff, especially the restaurant's, is friendly, helpful and obviously cares about your stay. The breakfast buffet is very well done, the fruit is incredibly fresh, the chef's take on Eggs Benedict is well done and the eggs are poached perfectly. The sausage and bacon were well-cooked but not burned. Nice selection of breads and pastries. The scrambled eggs were a bit dry, but maybe that is me.
The rooms, bathrooms, bar & restaurant and other public areas were immaculate. Having great staff really shows. The squares in Savannah are a nice and colourful walking area. They provide great entertainment value. Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat.

My husband and I recently stayed 5 nights in Savannah. This location on West Bay St with cross streets of Montgomery Street & MLK Blvd is very accessible for walking everywhere! City Market Streets and River Front Streets were only a few walking blocks. One downer is that this hotel is on the very busy West Bay St, MLK Blvd. & Montgomery St. No escaping the traffic noise all day & night!
Justin Chewey, one of the the front desk managers, was so very helpful with our accommodations. He was very professional in offering insights into some favorite local restaurants and activities that were happening around the town. We did get an awesome room #628 that had a terrific view of the Savannah River and all the tankers from all over the world going up and down was something to see. It had a most comfortable king size bed and 2 types of pillows, comfy sheets and very nice shower. The beautiful blackout curtains completely block out a ray of light.
The DoubleTree has a very comfortable downstairs...multiple seating areas for gathering and a pretty quieter area with a fireplace. They had a great coffee and tea station that was free and very clean and tidy. This hotel does not offer complimentary breakfast but I understand the onsite restaurant was very good for breakfast. The hotel is minutes from any type of tourist activity you would like. Historic Savannah is buzzing with people and the free public bus service DOT gives you ample opportunities to see many areas that may be a mile or two away. This spot is great for the mid budget traveler. Very Good experience here.

This is a mixed review, some good, some bad. The valet parking is very well run and courteous, but the price of $45 per day is a total ripoff. The front desk checked us in promptly, but neglected to give us our breakfast vouchers and we had to figure that out in the morning, after originally being wrongly charged for breakfast. I thought I could get a senior discount because when I booked the room on the Hilton Honors website, it said our age would be verified at the front desk when checking in. However, the front desk said they never heard of a senior discount with Hilton honors. And I am still trying to get an explanation from Hilton customer service, who, so far, will do nothing for me regarding the Hilton honors price. The breakfast staff people were terrific, however the food was just edible. The scrambled eggs were cold, tasteless and solid, it seemed like the same fried potatoes were served three days in a row. They were also mushy, tasteless and cold. If you get a room on the street side of the hotel, the traffic noise is horrible. We didn’t sleep well at all. Finally, the concierge lady was delightful, so helpful and detail oriented. And, overall, the hotel was clean.

So… believe it when people write that it’s noisy. We were on 6th floor and the traffic noise is ridiculous… cars, trucks, revving engines from midnight on. The sound machine in the room was unplugged and no other plugs in sight except for one on lamp and ones too far from bed. We were up the entire night from the traffic noise outside and we even tried running the a/c fan which did nothing to cover the noise. And no, there were no ear plugs and it wouldn’t have helped, believe me.
Hotel Management- There needs to be noise cancelling glass added to these rooms or warning when booking.
Hotel Management-please add plugs or extra sockets by bed area. Check plugs work. Several didn’t including desk.
The bathrooms need painting and there was a large crack in the shower and ceiling had lots of peeling paint.
Best part was valet even though it’s $42. The people were very friendly.
The front desk basically ignored us and we pushed our own luggage cart to room. No assistance offered.
This Hilton property needs major updates including the elevators which look really old & at times seem to stick.
The hotel gets two stars for valet staff and their holiday decorations.
Never again. We are exhausted.

The only good thing about this hotel is the gentlemen Erick at the restaurant downstairs (five stars to him!). The hotel management is another story. I stayed here with my family for a volleyball tournament that my daughter was playing and we brought with us our small (6 pound) dog. They charged us their $50 pet fee which I was okay paying since they advertise the hotel as "Pet Friendly". However, they were many other families with dogs staying at the hotel and specifically on our same floor; as you would expect when there are many dogs around when one barks, the others would bark as well. The interesting part is that at check out they charged me a pet disturbance fee of $150. I find this ridiculous since they were many other dogs at the hotel and they market themselves as a "pet friendly" facility. It sure seemed like a money grab from the hotel management. If they are going to be charging guests additional fees because the dogs may bark then might as well not accept dogs at all or at least have the decency to tell the guest what their pet policy is at check in. Furthermore, there were many people coming in drunk in the middle of the night talking loudly and singing on the hallways; not sure if they charged those people some sort of disturbance fee. In any case, it was an awful experience at this hotel. Wont go back and suggest others families that are coming with children and pets to find a different hotel. But Erick is great though!

Dear 51osvaldov, We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced during your stay. While we’re glad to hear Erick made a positive impact, we sincerely apologize for the frustration caused by the unexpected pet disturbance fee and the lack of clarity around the pet policy. It’s certainly not our intention to cause any confusion or discomfort for our guests, especially families traveling with pets. Crystal was very accommodating and moved to a new room upon a minor inconvenience with a water bug that are native to Savannah and gave me a discount on my first room night. The staff continuously texted and checked on me during my start. The hotel is conveniently 2 blocks from River Street and River Walk. I look forward to returning for business and leisure.

We spent a few days in Savannah to break up a drive from NC to South Florida. Chose the DoubleTree for its proximity to the Savannah riverfront and general good experiences with DoubleTree hotels. This location did not disappoint! The staff, from the valet staff, to the front desk, to the concierge to the breakfast staff were, without exception, helpful, personable and professional! The hotel is in a great location to walk to the riverfront and has all the amenities and qualities you would expect in a Doubletree - clean, well-equipped, and well run. Especially have to give a thumbs-up for the bedding - can't beat 4 down pillows on each bed! Really enjoyed this hotel and highly recommend. Do have to say that our corner room was fairly noisy, due to the activity on Bay street for most of the night, but we did discover a white noise machine the second night that helped a lot!

This property is lovely and our room was great but the customer service was poor. We were traveling due to a death in our immediate family, so we were already frazzled and were hoping for a place to stay for the night where we could just relax. We booked a room on the Hilton Honor app which said it included breakfast for "all registered adults in the room." My husband and I were both listed on the reservation. The next morning we went down to breakfast and the people in the kitchen said, "Where is your voucher." I didn't have one so they sent me to the front desk. The guy at the front desk said "You don't have breakfast." I showed him the rate I booked that said breakfast was included. He said, "Well, you will have to call Hilton Honors, I can't help you." So I called Hilton Honors, sat on hold for 20 minutes and finally got an agent. She verified that yes, I did have breakfast. She asked me to hold, called the guy at the front desk who I was standing in front of, and told him I had booked a rate that included breakfast. She came back on the line and said she had resolved it. He gave me a voucher for one breakfast and said it was only for one person. I went back to the line to ask her to confirm it was for two and she had hung up. Now we were over 35 minutes in, and we had to get on the road and I didn't have another half hour to fight about free eggs. So, I got a breakfast burrito to go and my husband got nothing, I paid an extra $30 to include breakfast and didn't get it. My husband said the worst part is that no one said, "Sorry for the mix up", or showed any concern at all. Just everyone blaming the other person for why it was screwed up.

As a Diamond member, and after after having an horrible experience at a Hilton in Alaska, which is still not resolved, I came across this hotel in the heart of Savannah. First, they contacted me prior my arrival on the app messages to see if I had questions or requests. AWESOME customer service. They did it again on day of arrival to check in with me. Now here is the awesome part. Breakfast was actually priced lower than the food credit. They did not raise the price, like some other areas did that I keep hearing about. Food was a normal buffet and had no complaints. My one item I did not like was the Valet. $42 is a really steep price to pay, and should be lower or at least of a self park option. AS some others said, you can hear street noise, but I come to expect that in city hotels. Did not really bother me, but it was noticed. The room had more than 2 towels, which was great for a two night stay, but I continue to wonder why hotels do not put more shampoo in the room, than that tiny bottle for 2 people? If the rooms are not being serviced daily, please put more shampoo in the room. Follow-up was also done, on last day, and my final receipt was 100% accurate with my daily food credit removed without asking. Many little things make for a great stay.
