This s a small historic hotel on one of the iconic squares in Savannah. The location was great, walking distance to most of the historic district as well as the riverfront. Our room faced the Reynolds Square, but it was not noisy. Our room was nicely decorated and clean enough, but the mattress was horrible. We could see the dent in the middle before we even got in. I have never written a negative review about a hotel mattress, but this was the worst. Of course due to COVID, there was no housekeeping services, clean towels were available, but you had to go down and ask and then wait for them to go get them so you could carry them up. There was no included breakfast. They recommended Henry’s, a diner around the corner, but did not offer any coupon, nor was there a discount on the rate. The major desk manager was very unfriendly and not helpful, The other staff was nice. One of them gave us bottled water when we asked, but the rude manager charged us $1.50 for each bottle. Overall, not the best experience and we would not stay here again.

We just can’t say enough good things about this historic property! The location was perfect and we never used our car once during our stay. After reading some reviews we decided to pay a little extra for a room with a view of the square and we are so happy we did. Everything was lovely with nicely decorated rooms and a spacious bathroom. Jennifer at the front desk really went out of her way to make our stay extra special, and we really appreciated her suggestions on where to go and eat during our visit. We will be recommending this hotel to all our friends and will definitely stay here in the future!

We stayed at Planters Inn over the weekend of May 14-16. We were looking forward to the experience as we enjoy boutique hotels and nice BnBs. Planters Inn fell far short of our expectations. It is in a nice location for walking Savannah and eating along the riverfront. The service was very poor. The only exception was Roderick, one of the bellmen, who always was friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff really didn't care much about us as guests and some were quite rude. Our room had a great view over the square but any "renovation" was very slipshod, as the room was just OK but not what it was described to be. We'll stay somewhere else next time in Savannah.

We find that our proximity to River Street, Bay Street and Broughton Street is the ideal location for our guests to walk to almost everything Savannah has to offer. Their brochure says that they just had a 2 million dollar renovation. Well, it was certainly in need of a renovation. When I asked the front desk about it, the guy said oh yeah, we were going to, but COVID hit and we needed to use that money to stay afloat. The place is in TERRIBLE condition and the prices need to reflect the fact that they are not fixing it up. They charge as if it had been renovated when the paint is peeling and the furniture is damaged. The bathroom was mildewy and just all around gross. The rooms are also tiny - not at all like the pictures on the website. And they are still using COVID as an excuse not to clean the rooms. No housekeeping. But no discount.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback concerning your recent visit to our Inn. We understand that your stay was not ideal, and for that we do apologize. We want all of our guests to enjoy their time with us, and we use all of our guest’s comments to improve our operations. Prior to March of 2020, plans were underway for Planters Inn to undergo the two million dollar renovation you referenced in your review. The onset of the pandemic, and subsequent shut down, meant that the plans for renovation needed to be adjusted in order to navigate the uncertainty that was to play out over the following year. In spite of losing two thirds of our staff to layoffs, the challenge of procuring supplies and equipment, as well as the sudden and drastic reduction in business, we were actually able to accomplish quite a bit. We refinished all of our tubs and showers, replaced the majority of our mattresses with brand new Sertas replacing the old mattresses with new ones as they arrived. We also replaced all of our exterior windows to increase safety, improved street noise cancelation, to better control the ambient temperature in the guest rooms. We also replaced not one, but both of our elevators during this time. We made repairs to walls, beds and furniture, as well as repainting both guest rooms and common areas. Although he has moved on to a different property, our former maintenance man, Damon, worked tirelessly to get all of this and more done, while also assisting the housekeeping staff throughout his shift. While it is nowhere near where we wanted to be with renovations, we are working hard to make improvements to our hotel everyday, and we encourage all of our guests to come back and see our progress as we pick up steam in the coming weeks. You meantoned housekeeping services, and I assure you we are in no way using COVID as an “excuse” for not providing services to our guests. We are bound by national, state, city and industry . mandates, which have not eased certain restrictions for the safety of everyone involved. We do not demand information or proof of vaccinations, and the wearing of masks in our facility has been left up to the individuals to decide what is best for them and their unique situation. In certain situations, we may have the freedom to adopt different policies than a comparable business, certain restrictions have been put in place across the board for the health of all involved. Violating these mandates carries with them heavy fines and consequences, and could still potentially put our staff and guests at risk. If you are in need of anything at all during your stay, you can let us know, either by dialing “0” on your guest phone or stopping by the front desk. There is perhaps no segment of society that wants things to return to normal more than those of us in “essential worker” and hospitality positions. We appreciate everyone who has been so wonderful and patient during this past year and encourage our valued guests to come back and see what we can do in the future.
