The Hampton Inn Savannah-Historic District is often celebrated for its prime location and cleanliness, including a well-received complimentary breakfast. While the amenities and renovated spaces like the lobby and breakfast area are popular among guests, some have raised concerns about parking and varying levels of service.
Room experiences fluctuate, with some guests finding them spacious and others noting housekeeping issues. Opinions on value are mixed; the competitive valet pricing is a plus for some, yet others are put off by high parking fees and inconsistent service quality.

Hotel's Favourite
My spouse and I got away for our anniversary and chose Savannah. We like to stay in Hilton properties to collect points. We booked the Hampton and were very pleased. It’s close to River Street and all the restaurants are walkable or a very short Uber ride. The concierge was very helpful and guided us to a great happy hour place The Repeal. Best $1 oysters and Asian Brussel sprouts , staff at the bar were very fun. We also loved the HH $1 oysters on the rooftop Sorry Charles . The ordinary was great for HH funky cocktails and fun atmosphere
We picked 2 nights with a king bed and sofa room and 1 night on points we had the regular room and I have to say it’s not worth spending the extra money for the sofa couch room . You get a very small bathroom with no countertop. I wanted to point that out because I did not read about any of this on the reviews you had to leave all your toiletries on the counter where you have your microwave and fridge.
Hotel was very clean and always offering you bottles of water .The complimentary breakfast was decent .
We had a rental car only 1 day but parked it in a public garage down the street for less then half the cost at the hotel .
Had a wondeful dinner at The Pink house across the street from hotel.
Hilton staff were lovely and accommodating special shout out to Maliki who we adored.
When we return we would definitely pick this hotel

We spent three nights here and loved the location, the cleanliness, and the staff. Front desk personnel were so welcoming and friendly. We chose not to have housekeeping clean the room during our stay but we were able to change towels when housekeeping was in our hallway. Hand sanitizer stations were at the elevator banks. Hand sanitizer and gloves were available also at the breakfast buffet and people were expected to use the hand sanitizer upon entering the buffet room. Coffee cups were individually wrapped to get coffee from the coffee makers. Bagels, bread, and plasticware were also individually wrapped. There was still a buffet of scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon or sausage (depending on the day) and make your own waffles. The women working in the breakfast room on both Monday and Tuesday were so kind and helpful.
Location was great- close to the river as well as the historic area. We loved walking around and not having to drive to get something to eat. We were glad that there was no valet parking and we self-parked for $20 per day in the garage. This was our first time in Savannah. We saw a lot of other hotels in Savannah when we walked around and felt we picked the one with the perfect location.
I took one star off for window and the placement of the heating unit in Room 719. The window was tiny already so we could barely see out of the window above the unit. There is no window behind the long curtains next to the unit.
Even though it was too cold to use the pool, we went to the rooftop to see the view. It was beautiful! Don’t miss going to the rooftop any time of year.

Right off the bat I loved the location. It's right across the street from River St. restaurants and shops (tho shops are nothing special). If you sign up for The Old Savannah Trolley (not recommended) there's a stop right next to the building. You can easily walk to the old town area from the hotel too.
The hotel is in refurbished old building but it appeared to be clean throughout. Rooms, though modest in size, had all the amenities you'd expect (microwave, HD TV, etc) & most importantly everything, including the bathroom, was spotless The staff was fine & the free breakfast was surprisingly varied. .For a mid range hotel in historic Savannah you can't beat this Hampton Inn. If/when I return I'll definitely stay here again.

The Hampton Inn is in the ideal location in Savannah. It is within walking distance to almost evertyhing or to transportation to get almost anywhere in Savannah. The lobby of this hotel is quite lovely and updated. The front desk staff and the concierge are very helpful and friendly. I was welcomed as a Hilton Honors Gold Member and all three people in my party were given water upon arrival which was much appreciated due to the extremely hot weather. Our room was on the second floor facing the river. It was hard to see the river over the buildings in front to the river. Also, it was quite noisey at night from the traffic on the street in front of the hotel. The hotel is clean. However, it is old and has not really been updated. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We needed to constantly ask for more towels which were provided right away. We even had housekeeping service during our stay which surprised me but I was very happy to have the room cleaned.
The pool in the hotel is on the roof. It is small but really nice. The view is wonderful and it was very relaxing after a day touring around Savannah. Many hotels do not have a pool so if you are looking for a pool this is a perfect hotel.
While there is a standard breakfast included with the room, we did not eat the breakfast as it was very crowded in the breakfast room. We just got tea and water and went out for breakfast later in the morning. However, the breakfast area was clean and offered many options. They definitely tried to make this area Covid safe. However, people were still able to serve themselves eggs and bacon.
We did not have a car, but the parking is $39 a night. That is more than some hotels in Manhattan. It really surprised me how expesnive the overnight parking was. There seemed to be other garages around the area that had overnight parking for $25 per night. Not a deal breaker but just something people should know about.
Overall, I would recommend this Hampton Inn as it is confortable and clean and in a great location.

Over the last twenty years we have stayed here four times. It has a perfect location for going to the riverfront and to walk the great Savannah Squares. They are back to serving a hot breakfast and it was a good start to the morning. Rooms are sealed upon arrival without daily maid service...but what ever you need they will promptly send to your door. Staff were ready to help for any reason. We were there for St Patrick’s day and found a city ready to become as normal as possible. Joining us was a couple escaping 3 feet of snow in Colorado. They found Savannah and the hotel GREAT!

Stayed here for a long weekend. Value was reasonable, rooms were basic. This property is a few blocks from the river. Though we found the walk to City Market and the waterfront to be manageable, if you can't handle that, you'll be better off staying elsewhere. Parking is available for a fee; we chose not to rent a car because it really isn't needed and you'll pay to park wherever you go. We did Uber on a couple occasions when it started to rain or we were carrying stuff. The properties closer to the river, as you might imagine, cost considerably more.
This property did have the typical Hampton complimentary breakfast, which some properties eliminated during COVID. That was very welcome. Staff was unfailingly friendly. Concierge was helpful.
I did have a complaint with the in-room refrigerator; it was so loud I needed to unplug it. When I advised the front desk the next morning, nothing was done. When I advised a second time, they sent someone up while I was gone. They plugged the unit back in which wasn't particularly helpful. Also, housekeeping is available only upon request. I did request and the room was made up one day but not another. Neither of those issues ruined my stay, they were just mildly annoying.

My husband and I recently stayed in the Savannah Historic District Hampton Inn. The staff was helpful and kind. Our room was clean and our beds comfortable. Upon arriving at our room, we found that the room door had a "Seal of Clean" attached to it. This made us happy amidst the pandemic. We definitely would recommend to others and hope to return soon for another visit.

We always choose Hampton Inns for our stays. This one had the perfect location right across the street from River Walk. The only one we’ve ever been in with a concierge and a small bar in the lobby. The breakfast were delicious, different each morning and the staff made my waffles and also came around and cleared the table. Everyone was more than cheerful and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel

This Hampton hotel was just perfect. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights beginning Christmas Day. Price was fair for this expensive town.
Dolores at the front desk greeted me warmly, the lobby was festive and firelit, and turns out parking across the street was free for the holiday. We were given welcome bags of bottled water and maps. Nice! I appreciated Dolores telling me housekeeping would be on a request basis only and would I like it. Yes, Ma'am I would and it was very good. She also had a list of all the restaurants which were open Christmas Day. The other employees and even guests were smiling and friendly. Area felt safe at all times .
Rooms were fine, everything worked.
Breakfast was in a very pleasant cafe with floor to ceiling windows directly onto E Bay St. Offerings were waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, potatoes, grits, breads. bagels, cereal, yogurt.
Location is outstanding. Perfect walking town. Everything was just a street or few near the hotel. Funny to see very expensive hotels just a short street away. Lovely area and I am very glad I was not staying on River St., which is too touristy and situated deep below the town so you have to use very steep stairs or a ramp to get in/out. Visiting for a stroll along the shops then river and dinner was fine but I doubt I would visit there again. The main part of town is so charming and looks like tons to explore.
Weather was very cold but sunny and we were dressed for it. I think Dec is the perfect time to visit.

I spent a night at the Hampton in mid-April and found the property average as it relates to hotels of its class. I attempted check in at about a half hour before the appointed hour and was initially told that “my room” wasn’t available. (I had requested a King). After what seemed like an extended time of typing and computer search, the front desk staff member eventually unearthed an alternative 2 Queen Room which I accepted. The Front Desk staff was not all that accommodating, friendly or outwardly pleasant in my observation. The room itself was typical of Hampton Inn quality but altogether forgettable. I would say that the overall condition of the guestroom/bathroom was acceptable, although I wasn’t a fan of the room’s old fashioned, dark furniture décor. It wasn’t a contemporary style. Also, the television was too small for the room and the reception quality was terrible, (not a high def signal). The rooms on the front side of the building, (Bay Street), do face a busy thoroughfare that sees a lot of traffic, including truck traffic. Do expect some level of city noise, especially on lower floors. The guest rooms do have a loud wall unit AC that effectively provides some effective White Noise to mask traffic.
The breakfast offering in the AM was again pretty average. It will fill an empty spot. The hotel’s rooftop swimming pool was still closed for repairs. Past hotel reviews show the closure has apparently lasted for an extended time. It’s unfortunate that the hotel couldn’t at least open the pool area for sunning and socializing, while covering up just the pool itself, if it’s out order. The entire area was closed off to visitors.
There’s no doubt that the Hampton location is the top selling point of this property as it sits in the absolutely perfect Historic District setting with ideal access to local attractions. The million dollar question is whether paying a sum that can approach $300 per night during the high season, (with tax and parking), is a good value proposition. One can stay at a Hilton Head oceanfront resort for a similar amount. As Savannah is very walkable, there’s absolutely no need for a car in the Historic district. If you’re flying into Savannah and decide to splurge and pay the premium price to stay DT, skip the car initially and then rent a car downtown at a lower rate at the conclusion of your DT Savannah stay….if you plan further out-of-city touring, and then return the car at the airport.
Bottom line, the Hampton was acceptable, but there are better, nicer options nearby.

Massachusetts, United States112 contributions15 helpful votesHi! Is parking still valet only or is there a self park option?
As one exits the hotel, directly across thr street is Self-Parking.
If that one is Full, walk 1 block to the left through the square.
The second Self-Park is on the same side.
No, but would suggest contacting the hotel directly as most info would be heresay.
I was in 219 next to the stairs. I looked at an end one also but they looked smaller. I opted for the room with only one side adjoining another room.
No - we do not have safes in the room
Sorry, I don't recall. You might need to contact the hotel directly.
