We were driving from DC and stopped at Mount Vernon. We wanted to also see at least part of the Fredericksburg battlefield. The RJI was perfect. Just a few miles from the Fredericksburg Battlefield and Chatham Manor, it was a great fit for our purpose. In addition to the beautifully presented inn, lovely room, great breakfast, and kind staff.....it was...

Book early if you want to stay here as it is very popular. A fully renovated property that survived both Civil War battles, each room is themed and period decorated. Breakfast is included and its reported to be legendary. Sadly the cook was sick the two days we spent there, so breakfast was good but not legendary. Great location in...

This was our first time staying at this Bed and Breakfast and it was delightful!Quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It is right downtown with free parking out back. This makes it easy to walk around town and visit the many antique shops. We stayed in the Virginian which is a street facing room. Not a good idea on the weekend as...

We love small towns and Fredericksburg was a treat. The Richard Johnston Inn was lovely - -our breakfast, delightful and the staff, helpful. A positive experience for us as everything was A-1! The decor within our rooms and other rooms were lovely. The dining area was unbelievable - - very tasteful and grand! Easy access to Washington, D.C. via train....

The location is great as you can walk to all of the shops in the town. Great restaraunts nearby. Looking forward to staying again in the future. Definitely worth adding to your list!!!!

My wife and I were traveling and wanted to stop in Fredericksburg on the way home... maybe see the downtown a little and have a nice dinner. Well, while on our vacation, we had a death in the family, so we had to leave early and couldn't make a stop. I called the hotel, not asking for a refund (we...

In a recent visit to Fredericksburg, Virginia, we decided to stay at an historical bed and breakfast and made a reservation at the Richard Johnston Inn. The reservation process was easy, and we did it via phone. The follow up email with all information was very helpful. Flying into Washington Reagan Airport, we made a very quick trip via Metrorail...

We are so very grateful to you for sharing your experience with us . . . not only about The Richard Johnston Inn - but your entire experience! We are very blessed that we are so centrally located - to the train, off I-95, history, dining and shopping. Not to mention the Rappahannock River! And yes, there is a "big...

I truly wanted to give this an outstanding review; however, I must be honest in a couple areas. First the innkeeper Cheryl, is a kind, very friendly lady. The staff is also very friendly and so sweet to my two young grandchildren. The issues were with the property itself. First, the parking is in the back of the building under...

Thank you so much for your kind words and praise - we truly appreciate it. With regard to your concerns - parking and air conditioning . . . .the elements of nature and the mind of a machine is a bit out of our control. We attempt to make our guests as comfortable as possible and to that end, we...

The Inn is a wonderful, welcoming romantic spot. You can't beat the location, walking distance to many sites and restaurants. Cheryl is a wonderful hostess and breakfast was delicious! We stayed in the Old Town room, with an exposed-beam ceiling, a delightful king bed. Would love to stay again!

We just completed a trip to the Richard Johnston Inn with my daughter, her husband, and our granddaughter to celebrate my daughter turning 30. We would HIGHLY recommend this inn. The location is absolutely perfect. Easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants of historic downtown Fredericksburg. However, the inn itself is so nice you may not want to...
