this is my second time at the historic Belton Chalet. great location in West Glacier right across from the Amtrak Empire Builder station, which is convenient but may feel a bit noisy with trains throughout the day & night (freight mostly, which is interesting if...More
We just had a shockingly unpleasant one night stay at the Belton Chalet. After 3 nights and 4 days of back country hiking and camping in Glacier National Park, we arrived at the hotel expecting to enjoy a nice comfortable bed, hot shower and a...More
We stayed at Belton Chalet because of its history. We found it to be nice, clean, convenient, and with a friendly and efficient staff. The ambience is wonderful and we had a great stay.

The station is right across the street from the Belton in West Glacier. Next door to the station is a little ranger station with a very helpful ranger. He sold us a great trail map. Remember, getting to the park will cost you $5 on the shuttle which only goes once in the morning and once at night. Same for leaving the park to get back to the Belton. Next time we plan to either bring our bikes take the shuttle into the park when we arrive and stay inside the park where the shuttles are free. Four of our favorite hikes were Trail of cedars to Avalanche Lake. St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls are amazing and both on the same trail and the views of the mountains are spectacular. Logan Pass visitor center has two good trails that start there. The trail to hidden lake usually affords views of wildlife and when we were there lots of snow. Highline trail is very popular, but only my husband did it as the steep and narrow path wasn't my cup of tea.
