Wow this is a fabulous place. It is in a beautiful setting off the beat and tracks while still being just a 10 minute drive to the Glacier Park entrance. It is also just a short ride into Columbia Falls.

Everything was perfect from check-in thru check-out. We stayed in one of the suites and it was just awesome. Just a huge area with everything so tastefully done. Had everything we could need including a gas fireplace, large comfortable bed. desk and chair, lounger. There was also a separate area with double sinks, a large bureau to store your cloths, coffee maker, microwave and small frig and finally in a separate space the bathroom. Outside the rooms patio doors there was a table and chairs for enjoying sitting outside and looking out onto the fabulous view. The WiFi and TV worked great which is not something that is typical for a remote area.

The hosts, Larry and Bunny were friendly and efficient. They attended to our every need. They also put out a fabulous breakfast. The spread included home made waffles or pancakes with huckleberry syrup (a local specialty), eggs, toast, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, ham or bacon, and a different home cooked scone or muffin. Bunny also served up a different hot dish each day such as biscuits and gravy or breakfast burrito. Wow what a way to start a day in the National Parks. The entire lodge is gorgeous and meticulously maintained.

The Great Bear Inn was an absolutely lovely spot to stay. I went with my parents and we really had the best time there. Every detail at the great bear inn was really thought out and you can tell so much love was put into it! We had an amazing breakfast every morning and we were super cozy every single night. It’s in a perfect location as well. This is the perfect spot for visiting glacier national park! The ultimate cabin vibes and the bed was so comfortable!! Highly highly highly recommend! ❤️ thanks so much for a great stay!!!

My daughter found this beautiful inn for us to stay in while we were in the Glacier NP area. You go down a bunch of dirt roads with nothing in sight and wonder where you're going to end up and then you come upon this "castle" in the middle of nowhere. The lodge and the cabins are beautiful as is the area surrounding them. There are rooms in the lodge, but we got a cabin since there were four of us. We spent two nights here and went to Glacier during the day. Our hosts couldn't have been any more friendly and welcoming. They cooked breakfast for us both mornings at the time we told them we'd like it. (And since we were the only guests, we didn't have to negotiate or compromise with anyone else :-).) And it was excellent. They even sat down and chatted with us while we ate and we really enjoyed that.
There is internet (Starlink) in the lodge, but it doesn't reach to the cabins. They've been trying to find a solution for that and have had a couple of vendors out there that claimed they could provide a solution, but they hadn't been able to deliver; at least at the time we were there they hadn't. But that wasn't much of an issue for us. And when someone wanted to check something or call someone, all they had to do was walk up to the lodge and hang out in the beautiful sitting room for as long as they liked.
As far as the cabin itself, it was pretty crowded for four adults. The dining area was filled by a picnic style table and the living room was tiny. The bathroom was plenty large but needed more towel bars. The downstairs bedroom was barely big enough for the bed and what space was left was filled by a chair and a large dresser. I understand wanting to provide decor, but it would have been a lot more practical to at least replace that huge dresser with a low table where one could place an open suitcase or two. As it was, we had to put our suitcases on our bed and open then when we wanted something and then close them and put them back on the floor when we were done or wanted to get into the bed. The other beds were up a flight of stairs in an open loft. I never went up there but it is open so there is no privacy if that's of any concern.
Of the 11 places we stayed on our trip, if you average the property itself and the location, The Great Bear Inn comes out on top. It was in the top two on location and the top three on quality of the property. I recommend it to anyone that's in the area and looking for a place to hang your hat.

I recommend the Great Bear Inn to anyone traveling to Glacier National Park for its ideal location and enjoyable amenities. There’s a lot of driving once you get inside the park, so we found being minutes away from the West Glacier entrance gave us optimal time to enjoy the park. The smaller of the Inn’s two cabins was perfect for our family of 4. Two teen boys in the loft and their parents on the ground floor separate bedroom enjoyed having their own space when needed! Breakfast each morning was delicious, and our hosts were so helpful and welcoming. They thought of providing essentials like loaned bear spray and coolers that in other park visits we’ve had to find on our own. We had access to the Inn’s deck and game room to play pool and board games. It was a terrific stay! Thank you!

Wow - we LOVED our stay at The Great Bear Inn! Such lovely hospitality, a giant room with so much space (we stayed in a grande room) and the best water pressure I’ve ever experienced. The breakfasts were delicious (both the buffet and packed breakfast for early days) and everything was spotless and squeaky clean. The location was excellent for our long days in the park. I can’t say enough good things about our 5 day stay! We’d return in a heartbeat. Make sure to stop at the fairy houses if you have littles - or even if you don’t!

Thanks so much, Bunny and Larry!

We loved the Big Bear Inn. Check in and check out was very easy. The property owners have taken extra care to provide all the supplies needed for overnight stays. The breakfast was delicious, but the conversation with other guests was even better. We’d love to return at some point.

We chose to stay on the west side of GNP and chose The Great Bear Inn as our lodging needs. It has everything that my husband and I love about a wonderful place to stay: clean, awesome location, spacious room, but most importantly..exceptional hosts.
Bunny and Larry were welcoming, and caring and made sure that all their guests had everything they needed.
Our room was HUGE, the king size bed so delightful and I am not making this up: the hottest shower and best outflow from their shower that I have ever experienced! Each night after hours of hiking, their shower was fabulous! Bathroom heater was a nice plus, breakfasts in a delightful dining room with windows that look out for miles, and of course meeting your fellow travelers and sharing tips over a yummy breakfast!
We had our hosts pack us a boxed lunch for the 2 days, and they were ample and delicious after a morning of exertion. I highly recommend asking for lunches if you plan to be out and about! My only disappointment was I wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy their outside patio and lawn and revel in their luxurious property.
If you are ever looking for accommodations close to the west entrance to the park, make a reservation at the GBI! It was truly a wonderful place to end our vacation! Thank you Bunny and Larry!

My husband and I stayed at the Great Bear Inn for our honeymoon and we were in absolute heaven all week!!!! The B&B is gorgeous inside and out and you can tell so much thought went into all the decorating and small touches inside in the rooms and the main area. The lawn and landscaping are groomed perfectly. The breakfast every morning was amazing and always a good variety/spread. We had a great time mingling with other guests over hot coffee and huckleberry pancakes. The room is HUGE compared to other hotels and there is a fireplace that makes the room very cozy and romantic. The bathroom is also very large along with the shower. Everyday our trash was emptied and towels were replenished as needed. There were wine glasses available upstairs to enjoy a glass in the room or on the patio/deck outside. Bunny was kind enough to lend us Bear Spray throughout our stay. The last day we had no more groceries and with so many places closed (end of session) we were having trouble finding lunch. Bunny and Larry made us sandwiches, snacks, and a water for just $10 each! We decided next time we would just buy lunch from them all week! Another great part about the Great Bear Inn is the location.. if you stay in Whitefish or Columbia Falls the drive to the Going to the Sun road gets a little far! From here you can be in Apgar in 15 minutes. Bunny and Larry- thank you for such an awesome stay!!!

We definitely recommend this place. Larry and Bunny are great hosts and always made a fresh breakfast for everyone that came in. The breakfasts while we were there included french toast, huckleberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice, fresh fruit, fresh-baked goods, and more. You are not going to go hungry here! The rooms were super clean and we found out that Larry (a former logger) had made a lot of the bedframes and headboards as well as other furniture. Bunny was a former teacher and I couldn't believe the thoughtful detail. (Towels especially for wiping off muddy stuff, coffee in the room, fridges in the room, blankets, 2 types of pillows to choose from on each side of the bed, little chocolates, nice towels, etc.) I loved that they lent out bear spray so you didn't have to buy it (who else does that?). It was close enough to the park that it was convenient, and if we came back to GNP, we would stay here again. I recommend that you explore the grounds and look for the fairy house that is so creatively built, plus you can appreciate how much time and care they put into not just the inside, but the outside, too. I love the energy that Bunny and Larry created and the other guests were friendly and fun. We ate a large dining table that was big enough for us all to eat together yet spread out. It was a great opportunity to talk to other guests and get updated info on the park. Parking was easy and free. It was a delightful stay!

Staying at the Great Bear Inn was a fantastic experience for my family. We were warmly welcomed by Larry and Bunny who provided homemade blankets and furniture for our cabin. They made delicious breakfast for us every morning to enjoy with other guests, my favorite was the biscuits and gravy. It was really fun to chat with the others about what we saw yesterday and what our plans were for today. My children loved playing in the game room and played chess and billiards with new friends from CA.

My family wanted to get away and not focus on our devices, so we appreciated there was no wi fi in our cabin, but for others it might be better to stay in the main house that does have wi fi. During our hikes, drives, and bus tour we were able to see a moose, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and a snake. Pretty exciting for a family from the city.

We loved our time at the Great Bear Inn, I hope we can return and see the snow someday!

The mini grand is located just down the hall from the common area. During our stay it was very quiet. There is a room across the hall from the Mini grand and I believe there is a room located above the mini grand. We were very pleased with this Inn.

It could easily accommodate 20. The eating area is a huge table so you could eat together. The inn only provides breakfast, though so if you want meals at lunch and dinner you have to go out or get food and bring it back. We did that a lot.

Earlier this afternoon I wrote responses to recent reviews. Your response should show up in the next few days along with others. You will note that I thanked you in it for your positive suggestions and noted the changes we will be making. However, when people are dissatisfied regarding issues which are clearly stated on the website prior to their bookings I am simply reminding them and letting others know that they should familiarize themselves with a website prior to booking.
