We stayed only 1 night at the beginning of our Safari trip to Tanzania. As a first impact with this new journey it couldn't be more "real". A tented lodge in the middle of nature, you could clearly hear the noise of elephants passing during the night. To go back /forth from your lodge you had the escort of Maasai!...

This hotel does have quirky bathrooms, as previous reviewers have mentioned, but they are good for a laugh and memory. The hot water is wonderful, showers have pressure, beds are comfortable, food & service were excellent. Before we went to our rooms one of the staff explained everything we needed to know--when the generator turns off, how to access internet,...

What a quirky spot to overnight after a day in the Tarangire National Park. Smiling ladies, warm towels and cold fruit juice made for a wonderful welcome. Masai warriors for porters and escorts after dark add to the safari adventure. Meals were good, it was a treat to enjoy lunch back at the hotel - the standard lunch box of...

I have difficulty reviewing the many hotels that are like Roika. The trip advisor scoring system doesn't really apply: better to have stars and then rate then in relation to the stars they aim for. Roika is intended as 2 star and pretty much achieves it. There is no doubt that money has been spent constructing hotels like Roika but...

The Roika tented camp is situated just outside Tarangire National Park, there wild animals can walk through the camp. In the evening you cant leave your tent without survaillance from Massai. The tents are beautifull but there is a serious problem with bugs and insects. There is also a small swimming pool, but it wasnt very clean when we were there....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Roika, especially the fact that animals would roam through the lodge. A real African experience. The accommodation was very comfortable and the bathrooms were certainly a little crazy, to say the least! The one slight downside was that it was a 20 minute drive each morning into the park, meaning from a photography perspective,...

This is one the the accomodations where you say, it os ok! Tent is OK, it is very big. Many people talk about the funny designed showers, never mind, they work perfectly! The restaurant is OK, the food is good, the best tables are outside the dining hall. You do need a masai escort when you go back to your...

Roika was the first place that we stayed at whilst on safari and perhaps for this reason I'm slightly biased when I say it was my favourite of all the places we lodged at. Owned by Masai, the lodge sprawls across the bush, its wooden and stone buildings blending well into the environment. Guests stay in fixed, luxury tents, which...

Little did we know the elephant tub was only the beginning! A bachelor male visited us at the bar before dinner (FYI, we learned courtesy of some fellow guests that elephants don't like flash cameras!). Room & meals were perfect, and we needed the Masai escorts as the bachelor male elephants slept around our tent. Highly recommend!

We went here for 2 nights. The people of the lodge were friendly and helpfull. The manager did well! We got the safari driver from the lodge, Amani who was not a real recommendation. We paid a lot for the safari itself and nevertheless he only brought water in stead of soda's. Also he was not so communicable. He was...
